Excellent cafe - worth a visit.
Coffee was excellent & scones were home made with decent quality jam.
Staff were attentive and charming - would deffinitely recommend.
Will be going back with the family to check out the home made burgers as they looked really good.

Called in here whilst touring Northumbria. Clean, good service and nice food. Highly recommended. For the size of Rothbury this is a large spacious place with an extensive choice of food. Would definitely come back again.
The flapjack is especially worth a try!

I recently went to Tomlinsons to have lunch with a friend. We sat down and were greeted by a scottish lady, she took our order quickly we asked a question re offer she was not sure so went to ask in the kitchen. While we waited for a reply a man came out of the kitchen. He was quite close to our table we both said hello to this man, he turned looked straight at us he said nothing, looked us up and down, curled his lips tutted and walked away. My friend and I looked at one another in astonishment. Saying "did you see the way he looked at us". It made us feel very unwelcome as we were the only customers in it was clear he wasn't tutting at anyone else. I have to say we got up and left after that without eating. We have been before and the food is ok not spectacular. There are better place to eat in Rothbury. We won't be going back.

We only called in for a coffee but spent ages talking to the owner, such a lovely lady. It was lovely that she spent the time to talk to us, as we were tourists she told us a lot about the area. Would defiantly stay here if a group of us went walking or cycling in the area.

I stayed with a group of friends in the bunkhouse. The room (number 2) was cramped for the 7 of us. It had a ensuite but no other toilets. This meant quite a queue for the toilet when getting up. We'd ordered breakfast and this was at 9am, which is too late if a full day is wanted hiking or biking on the hills in winter. There is a alcove with a fridge, kettle, microwave and also cutlery and crockery but nowhere to make a meal.
The cooked breakfast was fine and I can see why the cafe gets good reviews. There is a nice common room with a lovely fire and large TV. There is easy parking onstreet outside the door.

Room Tip: Avoid room 2, the other 2 dorms are more spacious.

The accommodation was clean and tidy but our room in which 7 people slept was too small. It's size was more suited to a maximum of 4, especially as there was only 1 shower and the lavatory was not separate, never a good combination. It made for a very cramped space and a lot of time spent waiting to use the facilities. Also note that the breakfast room was not open until 9am and the meal not served until 20 minutes later, a major consideration if you're wanting to get an early start for a long walk in the nearby Cheviots. Furthermore be aware that the nearby church clock strikes every quarter hour right through the night and may disturb light sleepers

On arrival in Rothbury at lunchtime today coming from Hexham on the B6342 we came over the refurbished River Coquet Bridge and we saw a delightful looking cafe that allowed access for dogs. We parked in the centre of Rothbury and we walked a few yards back to the cafe. When we went into the cafe we sat at a nice set of table and chairs made of solid wood and the place was bright and very clean. Me and my wife had jacket potato and salad and a lovely hot drink of latte and tea. While sitting in the cafe we scanned through a book which was on the window cill of Northumberland and Durham and we remembered seeing that type of historic buildings at Beamish Museum a few days earlier. Because we were very relaxed we decided to have another hot drink and a cake to finish having a lovely time in this wonderful cafe. The food and drink was excellent on a day the weather was a bit dreary outside in the lovely village of Rothbury in Northumberland. Me and my wife live just a couple of miles outside Durham City which is about 50 miles away from Rothbury.
