This path is easy walking, offering well-made flat paths. There are walks both ways out of the village, about a mile in total. Lovely scenery with some items of interest

Along the river Coquet at Rothbury, we really enjoyed walking in both directions from the car park at the bridge. Good footpaths.

Lovely walk along the river, especially at sunset, when it is generally very peaceful. Friendly local cat will come and check you out.

We stopped in Rothbury for a couple of hours to take break up a long a drive and to have something to eat. A walk along the river was always on the cards too. The first inspired thing to do was not to park in the town - where a reasonably sized pay & display car park is located but to carry on the through Rothbury towards Thropton. Firstly, on the left hand side there is a free car park next to the river or if you want a longer walk continue further towards Thropton. At the first point I mentioned, steps take you down to some benches which would be ideal picnic areas. There is a well maintained footpath along the River Coquet which is ideal for getting into Rothbury if you have time to kill. Plenty of pubs, cafes, tea rooms etc in Rothbury so you won't go hungry!
