Cairn Rigg, nice little cottage up a hillside road above Rothbury. Had everything you need for a week's break and a welcome bottle of wine. Really quiet evenings though every daytime I was out exploring all over the area which is second to none as far as I'm concerned, I love Northumberland (recommend Cragside N.T. and Brinkburn Priory E.H. for starters which are both very close by). Rothbury itself I've visited before but a pleasure to stay there, pretty place with a few friendly pubs/hotels and a decent chippy! Lovely visit all round.
We really enjoyed our stay. A great deal of attention has clearly gone into the decoration and fitting out of the cottage, and it was immaculately clean. Well kept garden in the back. Good internet connection. Rothbury itself is a pretty village, a convenient driving distance from the coast and other attractions.
The location couldn't be better - up the lane to the moorland for walking with or without the dog! and only a 10 minute walk down the lane to the village. The cottage is extremely well equipped with everything you could possibly need, much thought having gone into this by the owners, Graham and Dorothy. There are several cafes and pubs for meals and some interesting shops in which to browse, but it's the friendliness of the locals which makes Rothbury a pleasant place to stay. We've been coming to Cairn Rigg for several years now!!!
Cairn Rigg was a wonderful property with everything we could need to hand. The perfect size for 3 people and a cat and a wonderful base to explore Rothbury and the surrounding area. The walk up the hill was worth it for the stunning views!
Very peaceful and relaxing. The garden was particularly beautiful. Would definitely book again.
