The reviews for this hotel are mixed, to put it mildly! My experience was also mixed. Would I go back? No.
We booked 3 rooms under the Groupon deal, and upgraded 2 to the loch view rooms. This was well worth it at £12.50prpn. Even in poot weather the local counrtyside is stunning. The hotel had obviously had quite a bit of money spent on it a number of years ago - huge conservatory, double glazing, wonderful patio - but now there are plenty of signs of lack of maintenance and resulting decay.
Our experience had quite a few down points :-
shower door hanging off wall
shower not working
rooms not cleaned on day 2
public areas unhoovered
all the dearer options on the menu were "off"
food on the restaurant menu was truly awful
poorly trained staff
initially refused to take a dog
poor quality breakfast ingredients
There are, however some good points :-
fantastic position - it must be incredible in the summer
bar food was fine
the staff were friendly
all areas were warm
the soups were excellent
the residents lounge was cosy and relaxing
the bed was comfortable
If you arrive with low expectations, have a "make the most of it" attitude, and don't get too hung up about the hotel's little blips, then you will have a reasonable stay.More
