Got a touch of rain (what else is new!) but the views are great. Apparently some Nepalese sherpas recently re-paved the whole trek.

Romsdalseggen should be done as a one way trip. Start with the bus at 09:30 from the train station in Åndalsnes. Tickets to be purchased at the Tourist Office there prior to departure. Walk up the hillside in your desired speed. This is the easy part :) If you suffer from heights - take the "Family Trail". But you may certainly also challenge yourself and take the "Normal Trail". You can crawl the most challenging parts if you like. There are chains to hold at selected passages. It is well worth to visit Blånebba (1320 masl). If you do as I did - Blånebba first, and then down again to the Family Trail the total hike time for the day will exceed 8 hours and you will add another 4-500 height meters of decent and acsent. Be patient for good weather - this trip is dreadful in rain and strong winds. The views are som magnificent that it is well worth all the pain that the rest of the hike may involve! The decent to Åndalsnes centre is steep from 700 meters and down, but take your time - let the rooftops come slowly closer :) ENJOY!

I LOVE walking-trails, and this stands pretty top on it. The best part of this trail is that you can choose the duration and length based on your stamina. The view from the top is unexplainbly majestic! Its a must do trail for those who love nature and outdoor. My no. 1 recommendation in Åndalsnes!

Magnificient views at the top but careful if you suffer from the heights better choose the 'family'one to avoid the ridges. Althought it's called family you shoud be fit and experienced, definitely not for beginners! Not to be done on a rainy day.

One of the most amazing hikes I´ve done!
So exhausting but so rewarding, too. Weather was ok, not too hot, not too cold either, especially if you move (keep moving! The wind can be really nasty up there!).
It took us 6 hours, without the extra trip to the one summit.

Descend was like a cruel punishment from former lifetime crimes, down down down, my knees hated me, down down for 2 hours. I was so exhausted and angry at the last 2 hours or so that I almost didn´t care. I tried to hike and run away the pain and it almost worked ;-)
Defo worth the hike, though!

Bus from Andalsnes to start of the hike is so ridiculously expensive!!! 130 NOK per person!! You don´t really have another choice though, so we sucked it up and took the bus anyway.
We stayed at Andalsnes Camping (see my other reviews!!) which was great!
