Lovely 3 bed villa, just 15-20 mins from airport and really easy to find if driving. Parking right outside the door. Booked through Monarch but all dealings after booking were with villa owner / management team (Mauter Villas).

Typical holiday villa, large lounge, 1 decent size double bedroom with en-suite, 1 large twin and 1 smaller twin with 1 large separate bathroom. Fully equipped kitchen. Good reliable wifi (even out by pool) and great aircon plenty of space outside so you can lie in the sun or shade. Pool initially looks to be on the smaller side, but OK for playing around in and deep enough to plunge into properly (1.5m - 1.6m).

We had a problem after a few days where the pool went cloudy so we rang the service team. They turned up within a couple of hours to sort it out. It happened again towards the end of our stay but again was resolved within a couple of hours, so can't fault the service response.

The beach is about 10-15 minutes walk away down a very steep slope (10 mins there - 15 back up !). It is a lovely sandy beach, but very busy during the day so you'd need to get there early to get a bed / shade or you can take your own towels / sun umbrellas and sit a little further back. The water is really clear and you can snorkel to see some small fish. Restaurant on the beach (Los Barriles) served lovely pizzas and less than 10euros each.

There is a road alongside the villa, but it is very quiet and the pool / sunbeds aren't visible from the road.

The villa is about 200m from the local supermarket and another 200m to a range of lovely restaurants. We tried lots of restaurants over 2 weeks and found all the food to be good quality and not expensive (about 20 euros for starters & mains and a 1/2 bottle of wine / soft drink). Most weren't large restaurants and we had to wait 5-10 mins a couple of times to get a table (we went out around 8.30 and there were 5 of us, but we had a drink first so it wasn't a problem). , The only issue we did have was very slow service in one restaurant (La Salamandra - we only went there once), all the rest were fine,

There are regular markets and entertainment in the main resort square, but we went to Sa Paisa most nights, where they had various tribute-band type entertainment from 10-midnight. Best ones were Adrenalin and Temptations. A couple of other restaurants had occasional events but Sa Paisa was the main one. Karoake is on at Aloha on Tues and Fri, from around 10pm, preceeded by a music quiz at 9pm. All good fun and you don't need to be a great singer but the quiz is tricky.

All entertainment is outside, so hopefully you'll have the same dry time we had !

The Irish Bar has a pub quiz on a Thursday evening, again you don't need to be a genius to join in, lots of the questions are 'tip of the tongue' annoying.

A few of the bars also have swimming pools, so you can use these if you don't have a pool or don't fancy the hike to the beach.

Spanish Law prevents open-air entertainment after midnight, which is why everything then goes quiet.

There is one late indoor bar (Rehab) but that was more or less empty most nights we were there so we tried the famous night club in a cliff - 'Cova d'Xoroi'. It was at the edge of the resort, about 20 min walk from the centre, and 30 euros to get in on a Friday (can get cheaper if you book online the day before) but this includes one drink. Expensive, but worth it as an experience. Lots of different nationalities in there. You can also visit during the day for 9euro each, again including a soft or alcoholic drink and the views are superb.

Everywhere in the resort is walkable, but a car is useful for jaunts out to other parts of the island. Max drive is about 1hr from east to west and about 40 minutes from north to south. Everywhere is well signposted, but they do like one-way systems in towns ...
The church at Mount Toro was pretty and the restaurant there was good value (had half a Roast Chicken and Swordfish Steak for 9 euros each, including a glass of Sangria) and the Lloc de Minorca zoo was worth a visit (couple of hours max, but again restaurant was good value - large pizzas and burgers just 6euros each).

We visited the Mahon Gin Factory (more of a shop than a factory) and went on the Yellow Catamaran (1 hr trip round the bay on a boat with a very cheap bar) - 12 euros each but you can book online the day before to save 20%

A family orientated resort, very relaxed and safe feel about it, but enough to keep you occupied until midnight.

We booked this holiday with Monarch. We couldn't find any reviews on the villa prior to departure but weren't unduly worried. From our holiday experience I would guess that this year is the first time Monarch have used this Villa.
We arrived at the airport and needed a keycode the rep said she didn't have one but there would be someone at the villa to meet us. There wasn't so had to ring London customer services to get the code to get in, not a good start!
The villa inside was spacious, clean and had almost everything you would need, great wifi, good book and game selection. A couple of issues - no shower curtain in ensuite shower meant the bedroom flooded every time it was used. The wardrobe in the main bedroom smelt musty and damp so was unusable. But on the whole we were happy with it.
The outside was a different story.....
The patio area was dirty.
The seating areas were dirty and needed repainting
The BBQ needed cleaning
The pool was grimy around the waterline and around the steps. There were only 2 of us and we didn't use the pool for these reasons.
There was no umbrella around the pool
There was an area full of last years rubbish, broken table/sunchairs and the missing umbrella!
By the state of the outside it looked as if it hadn't been cleaned since the end of last season.

We expected someone to call to see if all was ok and to clean the pool. 4 days into the holiday no one had been so I had to email regarding the issues. Monarch were quick off the mark and did say they would send villa agent round but he never appeared as promised. The rep came the day after and agreed that the state of the outside was unacceptable and it should have been cleaned prior to our arrival. They did offer to send someone round with a jetwash but as it was now our last day we refused as that was the last thing you wanted on your last day.We just hoped they would return to put things right before the next guests arrived.
We did complain again on our return and hope Monarch have now addressed all the issues because it could be a lovely villa if the outside is up to scratch.
