We stayed for a fortnight in the Royal Sun Resort from the 20th of June until the 4th of July when sadly we had to return home, all good things come to an end!
I agree with all of the previous comments about the spectacular views, the massive balconies and the very well equipped apartments. The kitchen is perfect for anyone who prefers to board on a self catering basis, I have never had an apartment so well equipped before. The resort is spotlessly clean throughout with towels being changed daily.

However the biggest asset of this Hotel is its staff. Without exception everyone works very hard to ensure that you have the best holiday experience possible. On that note thank you to Vladimir and Candi on reception, very friendly and helpful, thanks also to Jose, Corina, Mary, Luiz and ? Jorges and all the other Restaurant staff who served us during our stay.
Alex of the entertainment team worked very hard to get people involved in activities throughout the day and welcomed feedback on the evenings entertainers. He is a lovely guy and worked way past his finishing time one evening when everyone was enjoying a karaoke night rather than pack up and go home. Thanks Alex (I don't think I can ever show my face there again!)

Last but not least, Richard, the Quality Control Manager who works night shift, what can I say it just wouldn't be the same without him. He does his utmost to make sure everything is more than ok for you and asks for feedback before you leave and is always loking for ways to improve things. He too is a lovely guy with a wicked sense of humour.
This Hotel will exceed your expectations, it looks great from the photos but in reality it is even better.
Missing you all and hope to return next year.

Just back from a nine day break at The Royal Sun. The hotel sits just about as high as you can get in Los Gigantes [ not Puerto Santiago as Travel Republic has it] as such you get magnificent views of the cliffs and resort as a whole.
All rooms / apartments have a sea view and have massive terraces, as each floor is set back from the one below you get great privacy. Terraces have tables and sun loungers.
We had a one bedroom apartment for a party of three. This had a large living / kitchen dining area with the sofa made up in to a bed. There is a kettle , coffee maker, toaster , hob , fridge / freezer and dish washer. You would have everything you need if you wanted to eat in.
The bed room was reasonably sized and bed was comfortable. There is reasonable storage and a further wardrobe in the living area. The bath is very big and shower one of the most powerful I have seen in this type of accommodation.
Only slight drawback is the lack of air con but the living area and bedroom had a ceiling fan.
There is a safe [ at extra charge] in the bedroom. The flat screen TV only had BBC world service which in my opinion is not great for keeping up with news at home. We used the WIFI and that
worked well for us.

All the staff we met were excellent. Reception were really helpful and sorted out the WIFI for free and organised a boat tickets and a taxi for the Masca trip. We had a few minor maintenance issues and they were sorted out very fast and efficiently. We ate a couple of times in the restaurant and waiter was 1st class. The food excellent but the menu was perhaps a little restricted. I suspect if you were on half board you would be fine with what was on offer it certainly beats the usual buffet. And what a view as you dine.

As others have mentioned it is a steep walk downhill in to the village but it is not that onerous we are on a bit of a health kick and when we went out for a meal we walked down and back up, on a couple of days we did it both ways twice.
Some of the people we met did refer to the resort as a village and in truth it had that feel about it. There are lots of great restaurants and many boat trips on offer. As you walk about you may be approached by people offering you trips or inviting you to dine at their establishments but I have never encountered such laid back touts, they honestly were a pleasure to speak to rather than a major hassle.

The only other minor issue is that a few of the establishments down the hill have live music, by this I mean cabaret rather than bands. In the village itself it doesn't sound loud but it seems to carry very well up to your balcony of an evening. For us that is no problem after all you are sitting with a stunning view a glass of something cool and you get free music as well....

Highly recommended

Stayed at the Royal Sun Resort from the 14th - 28th June and had a fantastic time. The apartments are all sea facing with stunning views of Los Gigantes. The apartments are a great size and have a full fitted kitchen area with everything you could need if you are self catering, the living area is also very nice and spacious and leads onto the balcony area which is huge and have sun loungers with table and chairs (also a maiden feature for washing). The apartments are cleaned every day except Thursdays; the cleaner was really good and did more than is probably in her job role to be honest.

The hotel on the whole is fairly new as it was renovated and re opened in Oct/Nov 2012. Every morning the cleaners are outside cleaning the pool area making sure it’s clean and tidy. Everyone at home warned me about the cockroaches in Tenerife and in the Royal Sun i didn’t see one bug it’s that clean. The restaurants are all really nice and you can enjoy eating your breakfast and dinner on the balcony taking in the views. The menu was really nice for half board and i think it will be changing soon including more options; the local fish the restaurant was serving was always really nice. All the staff are very friendly and always happy to see you, Richard on reception was really great and willing to go the extra mile to make sure you have a nice time. I would definitely recommend Siam Park and Loro Park...they were a great day trip out, also you can get to los Americas on the local bus which takes about an hour.

When we arrived they had just started evening entertainment, a different show every night (Magic show, acrobats, singing acts). Alex Gabrielle who works with the entertainment team was an absolute star and was a highlight of my holiday, great fun round the pool playing water polo, water aerobics etc and always chatty and happy. The hotel also has a great squash court and is brand new and air conditioned; Alex was a really good teacher and would recommend people to use it. The guy on the pool bar was also brilliant always up for a laugh and a pleasure to talk to.
This hotel is really nice for couples and the bay is fairly relaxed which is lovely, completely recharged after two weeks. Will definitely be returning to the Royal Sun and would recommend it to anyone.

THANK YOU! The resort made our Valentine's day!!!
Had an unforgettable trip together with my b-friend. Fantastic food, in fact the best restaurant in Los Gigantes. Fantastic pool area with a great view, and every day we were thinking whether to go to the pool or to the beach! Transfer to the beach as well as own rent-a-car with parking included. Locker for a small extra price.. Rooms look like a superior.. amazing view from any terrace! Normally you have to pay more for such view, but here the price per night is very attractive. We will sure come back again soon!!!

We stayed at the Royal Sun Resort at the end of June 2013. We thoroughly recommend this hotel and resort. The hotel sits up on the hillside of Los Gigantes. It enjoys truly stunning views of the ocean and the resort of Los Gigantes itself. If you wish to walk to the resort it takes about 15 mins. Beware, it's a steep walk coming back that requires a little energy, but a €3 taxi if you don't fancy it. Resort is fairly quiet but enough to entertain with restaurants, bars, live music and boat trips to see dolphins & whales (fab!). Every room at the Royal Sun has a large sun terrace with sunbeds and stunning ocean views. Plenty of sunbeds for everyone by the pool too. Only minor criticism was the lack of aircon in the rooms but to be honest, Tenerife cools off nicely at night and Richard on reception kindly offered us an aircon unit which we didn't really need. Hotel clean, friendly and without question the best in Los Gigantes. If you're reading this unsure where to book like we were then go for it. We loved it and we will be back!

Room Tip: All rooms enjoy ocean views. We were 4th floor which is level with the pool so recommend this for ea...
