We stayed at the Royal Sun Resort at the end of June 2013. We thoroughly recommend this hotel and resort. The hotel sits up on the hillside of Los Gigantes. It enjoys truly stunning views of the ocean and the resort of Los Gigantes itself. If you wish to walk to the resort it takes about 15 mins. Beware, it's a steep walk coming back that requires a little energy, but a €3 taxi if you don't fancy it. Resort is fairly quiet but enough to entertain with restaurants, bars, live music and boat trips to see dolphins & whales (fab!). Every room at the Royal Sun has a large sun terrace with sunbeds and stunning ocean views. Plenty of sunbeds for everyone by the pool too. Only minor criticism was the lack of aircon in the rooms but to be honest, Tenerife cools off nicely at night and Richard on reception kindly offered us an aircon unit which we didn't really need. Hotel clean, friendly and without question the best in Los Gigantes. If you're reading this unsure where to book like we were then go for it. We loved it and we will be back!

Room Tip: All rooms enjoy ocean views. We were 4th floor which is level with the pool so recommend this for ea...

I was in tenerife last week in this hotel and it was really nice.
We loved it, it has incredibles views, the best service I've ever had in other hotels, even the pool group, I think its name is Agalaf, was really funny and full of good people, I remember Alex, a good boy who was always trying to make his job the best he could, and he did it! My wife and I spent a lot of fun with him in the pool, we made aqagym, waterpolo....
Maybe the taxes could be a little bit cheaper, but is not a bad tax actually.
Royal Sun Resort deserves a 9 star puntuation

A last suggestion, the prices of the menu and the drinks were a little bit expensive.

Nice hollidays at this hotel. Recommended to everyone.

The Royal Sun Resort apparently started life as a private apartment complex but the apartments never sold. Recently relaunched as a hotel, the complex offers stunning views over the Los Gigantes bay area. Quite simply, this is the biggest and best equipped room we have ever stayed in. Even though it was a basic room it had a fully fitted kitchen, nicely fitted bathroom with a corner bath, separate bedroom and a comfy lounge with a big Telly. The balcony was absolutely huge. Literally, you could throw a party for 20 people on the balcony/terrace alone.

I say a hidden gem, because there's none of the getting up at 6am to beat the Germans to the pool stuff. We had a late breakfast and went to the pool at 11am and still had no problem finding 2 sunbeds. Obviously this will change as word gets out. I can't comment on the food as we were self-catering, although we did hear it was very good. We considered going to the twice weekly barbeque but at 20 euros a head it seemed rather expensive.

Finally a big shout for Luis the pool barman. This guy needs a pay rise as chatting him at "5 o'clock club" was an entertainment in itself. Top chap.

Absolutely brilliant. Couldn't believe how good is was when we arrived. We were made to feel special the whole time. Clean and very well equipped apartments. Balcony the had table chairs, sunbeds and canopy over part of this massive balcony with amazing views. Food was excellent every day with waiter service. We were half board. Food available at the pool was also very good and not expensive. The pool was nice and warm, not much for children that I saw. Richard on reception was a star, he was so funny and couldn't do enough for us. The bar staff were friendly and seemed genuinely pleased to see us.
The resort was lovely although we were high on the hill side, but the free taxi passes we were given were a real bonus.
45 mins from airport, bus took just over an hour.
I cant imagine anyone would be disappointed with this hotel and staff. We would return.

Room Tip: we upgraded to a one bedroom apartment and it was massive

Fantastic Hotel, marvelous rooms with the largest balconies you could imagine. All the staff are just great, and cannot do enough to help you, and Richard on Reception must get a special mention for going the extra mile to ensure you have a happy holiday. Stayed half board and all meals were served a-la-carte, first class food and service. So much to praise it just sounds repetitive.
