Description: With just ten tables available for evening dining, AQUA is one of the most intimate and romantic restaurants in Tenerife. Its awe-inspiring views over the ocean and La Gomera completing the experience. This is a place to come for that special occasion — a date night, a birthday, an anniversary, or simply to celebrate life, love and food. AQUA is the brainchild of Tenerife’s most celebrated chef, Lucas Maes who owns and operates three restaurants on the island, each with its own distinctive style, underpinned by Lucas’s unique personality. Originally from Belgium, Lucas grew up in Tenerife, where he developed his passion for creating flavour combinations and visual styles in dishes made built around local ingredients. After 3 years’ study and 12 years working in Michelin star restaurants abroad, including Scholteshof restaurant in Belgium, Lucas returned to the Canary islands. In his restaurants he expresses his creativity, using the many exquisite fresh ingredients to be found in the mountains, fields, shores and ocean of the Canary islands. After an evening at AQUA you will understand why Lucas has won so much acclaim, including the Best Foreign Chef award in 2004.

An excellent and high class meal with a beautiful view.

We could not fault the food and service. Delicious starters of cheese/ risotto. Followed by Steak/ fish of the day and ending with delicious desserts!
The red wine was served cold, which although I know is the way here, I still can't get used to it!!!

It was fairly cold towards the end of our meal... it is afterall an outdoor restaurant, but the waiting staff offered a blanket, which my mum took advantage of! There were also heaters that gave some heat, but they were not close enough for our liking!

The waiting staff were lovely, kind and could not have been more attentive. A lovely birthday meal to end our lovely week in Los Gigantes. Thank you.

This restaurant is on a terrace facing los gigantes.

The view is amazing. It caters to witness the sunset on the ocean with the backdrop of the cliffs on your right. Fully open balcony with heating (if needed) and glass all around.

Food: great home made bread. Different flavors, dips and sticks.

Starter selection was the best part: from truffle risotto, to scallops, to tuna tartar. Very much enjoyed it.

Main dishes more 'mainstream' but still good. Both wife and I had a sea bass with prawns. Desserts also fairly standard (I had a chocolate sablee and my wife had a creme brûlée)

Why 4 stars: was expecting more from the main dishes. Fairly low key from the type of place.

All reasonably price given view, treatment and location. Starters in the 10-15 eur range. Mains around 20-22.

We tried out the Aqua Restaurant a day or two after it had opened with a lot of hype in September last year - it was appalling and we sent our food back. However we thought we would give it a second try and we are delighted that we did in April. It really was superb. The setting is idyllic - 400 feet up above the town and harbour wit fantastic views of the island opposite, the sea and the sunsets, which have to be seen to be believed.
The welcome and service could not be faulted, the menu is wider and more varied, there is a different chef, and the whole evening was absolutely delightful and romantic. We went back twice more in the one week.
I was scathing in my comments last time, I cannot speak too highly of the Aqua this time. If you are in the area - try it. But make sure you book first! It is good - very!

As above the food is well worth the visit and it felt like an event to eat here which isn't always easy when you are eating out every day. The service was all over the place and needs organising maybe giving waiters responsibility for a few tables rather than everyone trying to cover everything as we were offered the starter soup on 3 different occasions!!!!

It's hard to find good quality places in Los Gigantis, Aqua fills the gap nicely.
Great views, great food choices, well cooked.
Around great place. Nibbles were presented free and they were very, for main I had the sirloin with pepper source, supper peppery well made. The food is great.
