The last reviewer saved me a fair bit of typing. I agree with every single thing the reviewer said. Have just returned from a week at the Agamenon and would say that it is a good hotel which appears to be resting on it's laurels. The repeat business seems to have made it a little complacent and whilst the food I thought was nice and hot, that's all it was, "nice". Presumably those grotty flats overlooking the hotel were built after the hotel was, so it's difficult to blame them for that. As for the abandoned cars in the car park, that is a downright disgrace, but again, not a lot the hotel can do. We invited friends to visit when we stayed and were quite embarassed by the location.
One suggestion I would make to the hotel is to put an immediate stop to the people reserving sun loungers from 6am onwards. I do feel the hotel is reasonably good value for money, and may go back sometime.
Well done Agamenon, for the free internet, and the reasonably price safe.

There is no way that this hotel can be classed as a 4 star property. At the best it could just get 3 stars on a good day.

Firstly then good points
Location – Very quiet and peaceful location convenient for Es Castell, Mao and for discovering the joys that the island has to offer
Setting – The hotel sits in beautiful and immaculate gardens
View – The hotel has one of the best views of any hotel I've stayed in, overlooking the Mao harbour, you never tired looking at it.
Cleanliness – Every part of this hotel is immaculate and well cared for
Staff – With the exception of one member of evening staff who was far more interested in updating her Facebook Profile that to even acknowledge guests the staff went out of their way to make you welcome and to ensure that they made your stay as pleasant as possible.

Now the bad
Location – Yes I said it was good but it is in the middle of a residential area, so there isn't much close at hand
View – The other one! When not looking at the sea the view was of run down flats, a car park with abandoned vehicles and waste land.
Rooms – Very basic and compact, plenty of wardrobe space but a distinct lack of drawers, in fact they were non existent. Bathroom was very small.
Bed – Although firm (which I prefer) the use of plastic mattress protectors is beyond ridiculous, making sleeping very unpleasant
Lift – One lift that was so small it can barely take 2 people and luggage. The lift is also very old (don't expect automatic outer doors when you've gone beyond reception) and it wasn't an uncommon site to see the lift engineers van parked in the car park and an out of order sign on the door.
Restaurant – Breakfast was adequate with all the usual offerings. The evening meals were not the worst I have eaten but they were a long way from being good. The menu was very repetitive, lacked any imagination and any flavour would have been a novelty. After 3 nights we gave up eating in the hotel and ate out.

Having been so critical I do have to say that we did really enjoy our stay at this hotel which was mainly down to the professionalism and enthusiasm of the great staff which are the biggest asset to the Agamenon.

Location: Excellent, about 25 minutes walk from the main town of Mahon, Es Castell harbour is only 10 minutes walk and is one of the most picturesque places I have ever seen. Very quiet location, I would suggest you try and get a room overlooking the pool towards the harbour, as the views were lovely and is very quiet. The other side of the hotel has a sea view, but overlooks a side road, which is not busy, but you will inevitably get noise from cars/deliveries etc.

Rooms: Small and minimally furnished, equipped with: television, safe, hairdryer, bath with shower attachment and air conditioning. All rooms have a balcony with sea view, again getting a room as close to the harbour as possible is best. Rooms are extremely clean, everything is spotless. Internet use in reception, 0.50 euros per 10 minutes.

Communal Areas: Extremely clean and tidy.

Restaurant: Large dining room with lovely views of the bay of Mahon. You can sit wherever you choose, breakfast is served between 07.30-10.30 and dinner 19.30-22.00.

Food: We went half board and the food, which was buffet style, was great. Food was all well cooked, with at least six options for the main course, as well as salad selection, fresh bread and soup. Desserts were lovely with lots of choices. Breakfast was also very good, with fruit salad, cereal, pastries, cold meats, cheeses and cooked eggs, bacon etc. They also provide a pool bar, which has a good selection of snacks, although a bit pricey, so I would suggest walking to Es Castell harbour, where there are plenty of reasonably priced restaurants with great food.

Pool: Absolutely lovely, very peaceful and plenty of sun beds when we were there. You could either sit by the poolside or on a small paved terrace overlooking the harbour, which I would definitely recommend.

Staff: All the staff were extremely helpful and friendly and all worked extremely hard to ensure great service.

All in all, the hotel was great, extremely peaceful with fantastic views, food and staff, what more could you ask for? Holiday was only slightly marred by the weather, which for late June was unexpectedly unsettled. I would not recommend for children, it is a very grown up hotel and there are no facilities for children, other than the pool. The clientele were predominantly mature holidaymakers, we are in our mid 30’s and this was fine with us, as this meant a peaceful holiday with wonderful service.

The only reason I don't give this hotel a 5 star rating is because the rooms are a bit Spartan in their size and decor. Having said that they are very clean and have all the usual facilities. The food is good - but occasionally a bit repetitious - and all the staff are extremely efficient and friendly. It is the most relaxing hotel we have ever stayed in and there is absolutely no hustle and bustle. We would certainly go again and recommend it to anyone (except perhaps for those with young families). Value for money ? - yes, but the bar prices are a bit expensive.

We chose this hotel for our first visit to Menorca and couldn't have wished for better. The hotel has a fantastic location on the edge of Mahon harbour and we could watch the ships come in from our balcony. We were on 5th (top) floor but all rooms have great views. The staff were friendly, the public areas and rooms clean and the food was very good - extensive choice for both breakfast and dinner. It was our anniversary while we were there and they gave us a bottle of bubbly at dinner that evening - nice touch.
Although there is a good local bus service, we like walking so we walked into Mahon several times - takes about 40 minutes. Mahon is a lovely city and the harbour area is full of swanky boats. From Mahon we caught the bus to both Cuitadella and also to Fornells. The rest of the time we walked - 12 miles one day all the way to Binibequer and back!
If we decide to go to Menorca again in the future, we will definitely stay at this hotel again.

I was recommended this hotel by a friend who stayed here few years ago and was not disappointed. Wonderful hotel, amazing staff, awesome location, spectacular views over the bay We had a room the car-park side and furthest away from the bay and still had an amazing view so I dont know what people are complaining about as all the room balconies are slanted to they look out over the sea.. Will def return.
5 min walk to convenience store and harbour. Restaurants at the harbour were a bit pricey but hey your on holiday and food is first class. There was a restaurant at the end of the harbour up a flight of steps which overlooked the bay and served a wonderful paella.
The capital Mahon is a 10min bus ride from outside the hotel for 1:60e where is lots to do. You can get to the other side of island by bus from mahon for less than 5e, its very easy to get about, all the drivers speak english and well worth exploring some of the other big towns.

This hotel is excellent. Good food, spotlessly clean and exceptionally friendly, polite and helpful staff, particularly Rosa on the reception desk. Rooms have good views, able to watch all boats and cruisers entering and leaving Mahon harbour. Nice pool area with no problems with sun beds!! and a lovely terraced garden area with shade overlooking the estuary. No nightly entertainment or "rowdies" an excellent relaxing week for adults! Lounge-bar area and the restaurant maximise the views. We were unable to hire a car because of a shortage of vehicles, but 10 mins walk there is a bus to Mahon bus station 1.60euros per person each way. Buses then go to a majority of the island.
