Just got back after a weeks stay at this wonderful hotel. Each year we go away somewhere different all the time hoping to find that ideal place and guess what .....
A short drive from the airport to the hotel in a nice small but tidy mini bus and we were first drop off
Straight into the hotel to check in but unfortunately it was 11.50 and the room wasn't ready but we were offered a room to change in if we wanted and asked to call back in 1hr. So off we went to explore
Down to the port side and as we were thirsty decided to call for a drink at Dinkums ( as we had read about it on this website) and we were welcomed by an english guy who provided us with free brochures and made us feel welcome immediately
Back to the hotel at 1pm and our room was ready. A sea view with balcony and very very nice , little short on storage but hey we were only there for a week
We got changed and headed off to the Sky bar to hit the sun loungers and spa pools. There was plenty of room and we unwinded (if thats such a word) through the afternoon in the glorious sun
At night down to the buffet meal which was superb. Ignore what others say about it being boring. There is plenty of choice and all well cooked same goes for breakfast in the morning although I must urge you all to try the sausages Mmmm yummy !
If I had anything to moan about it would be the bar staff service which is very snail pace at times but you are on holiday and whats the rush
The staff are all nice and thsi hotel for me gets top marks
I could go on and on but there is only so much you want to read
What I must say though is leave the hotel at night and go to the waters edge outside the hotel look to your right and you will see the Musica bar which is so welcoming and again so relaxing.
The word Musica suggests in your mind loud music but let me tell you its quite the opposite with quiet spanish music playing in the background and at night if you request someone will get the guitar out for all to sing along to
We have been on a lot of holidays and never gone back to the same place but this could be the exception next year

Room Tip: Make sure you pay extra for a sea view - its worth it

We stayed a week on B & B basis: breakfast was excellent - Cava on offer every day if you wished! We cannot therefore comment on the quality of other meals. The roof top Blue Sky Bar provided a good service during the day - we rarely used either bar area at night. There are many lovely bars and restaurants within a 5-10 minute stroll away. The fact the hotel is adults only ensures a quiet relaxing break. As others have mentioned there is a lack of drawer space in the bedroom but the wardrobe is large with plenty of shelving so with a little imagination and organisation the lack of drawer space is not a problem. All staff especially those on reception are very helpful and efficient. Our door lock failed to work one day, by the time we got back to our room the "maintenance man" was there fixing it! Overall a very enjoyable stay. If your budget stretches to it I would certainly go for a room overlooking the sea - we will next time!

Room Tip: Sea views appear to be worth the extra.

This is definitely a very good 4 star hotel but there are some down sides, The rooms are very modern with large rain shower. Our room overlooked the pool and the balcony was furnished but really too small to sit on, I think a sea view would be well worth the extra but still quite small balcony.
The staff in the restaurant worked very hard and were very pleasant and welcoming; The staff in reception were also helpful.
The dining room has a beautiful outside seating area overlooking the sea. the breakfasts were very good. hot and cold food served. from traditional British fry up to pastries breads fruit meats and cheeses. you could also have freshly made omelets crepes and fried eggs cooked whilst you wait. there is even sparkling wine if you wish. Evening meal was still quite good but could be improved. wonderful salads and salad bar including king prawns. good choice of deserts but the main meal slightly let it down. the quality of the food is very good but you couldn't always find foods to make a meal of. lots of fish and stews.
Pool area is closed in on all 4 sides with rooms so was very compact but beautifully laid out. very little shade only about 4 umbrellas.some greedy older people took up to 3 beds each one in the shade one in the sun and one with an umbrella!! management did not do anything about this. The roof top area is stunning, with fantastic views. it has 5 jacuzzi s and plenty of loungers. BUT THERE IS NO SHADE. there is a pool bar that does not open until 12 o,clock but is well stocked. there is also a fantastic seating area.
there is no real outside space to this hotel but it looks very impressive.
wouldnt recommend all inclusive because there are lovely restaurants in the local area. i would return again

Room Tip: treat yourself to a sea view its worth it

I have great expectations on this hotel, and they were not fulfilled. The hotel is a new building with new and clean rooms. But the staff is not helpful (there were always problems when you ask for something, although it is written in the desk front that you can ask for anything...).
Average breakfast buffet, with terrible coffee.
And the prices are high, really expensive for the service the offer. About 200EUR per night and it is not valuable at all...

My wife and I booked a last minute holiday 24/5/14 to 7/6/14 at this hotel , being part of the Barcelo chain we didnt hesitate as usually they are excellent hotels . The setting for this hotel is wonderful alongside the Mahon estuary there are boats and cruise liners passing by regularly and the walk down the quay to the estuary mouth delightful .
The hotel has been recently modified and the rooms are modern ,minimalistic and dare I say a tad impractical with no bedside drawers under table chairs that there is insufficient space to sit on them as the rooms are quite small . Bedlinen changing seems a little hit and miss and also albeit tea and coffee facilities are advertised both on line and in brochure ,when this wasnt provided daily we were told by reception staff that this applied only to "all inclusive" even the Thomson rep wasnt aware of this! The pool is quite small but beautifully formed and half of the surround is in shade till noon. Pool bar coffee tepid but you can have it microwaved !
The reception lounge bar is where the evening entertainment is held they had some really, good acts on and then completely age inappropriate acts .The drinks service in this area both during the day and evening was very slow almost non existent ,it also got very warm in there which we found uncomfortable.
Now the food, breakfast could be quite good if the the cook wasnt doing omelettes and you wanted freshly cooked bacon and eggs ,she needed help as she struggled every morning for two weeks as management wandered around oblivious to it . The general standard of "hot" food was poor and looked unappetising salads all the way ! There was very little cooked fresh ie. steak ,grilled fish chicken etc.
Aspecial mention must go to the lovely Spanish activities lady Nuria it was hard work for her as most people were not interested but she persisted and her smile and personality could melt snow at 50 paces .
This hotel has the possibilities of becoming 5 star but they must address the understaffing ,misuse of staff ,poor food quality and the ability to be able to communicate with their clientele . I would visit this hotel again and concur with other reviewers that it would be on a bed and breakfast basis rather than half board.

Room Tip: Try to get rooms over the pool as they get the sun all day ,the rooms overlooking the estuary do not...

Having just returned from our 2nd holiday, at the hotel, we were again very disappointed with the food served up for dinner. The holiday was again fantastic but would be greatly enhanced if guests could be offered the bed & breakfast option. We're convinced more guests would return if the bed & breakfast option could be made available by booking through tour operators including Thomson. At present the only way of booking bed & breakfast is by arranging your holiday with the Barcelo direct. The Hotel Manager would be very pleased to speak, to tour operators, regarding the full range of board options including bed & breakfast. We would like to go back, next year, & can only hope that these discussions take place ?

Room Tip: Superior sea view room is a must - Fantastic views overlooking the bay in the Port of Mahon.

rooms modern and very clean .Location spectacular with views of harbour. Kettle supplied, shame no coffee, tea ,milk or water. Needed to visit nearby Spar shop! Breakfasts large and varied,.buffet dinners had good selection of salads and hot food. Pool rather small,no garden area.Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel. Value for price paid. Some other guests seemed to delight in hogging sunbeds every day, quite sad really.

Room Tip: Upper rooms pleasant.
