This was our third visit to this hotel, this time with our 8 year old and 18 month old girls.
If you are looking for a Brits abroad, English food and predominantly English clientele then this isn't the place for you. If you are looking for a quiet location, child friendly( but not in your face child friendly) direct access to a beautiful beach, friendly staff( if treated with the respect they deserve !!!!!) facilities suited to young children, not so good for older children as no water sports and nowhere to really have a wander to, then this is the place for you.
We read the odd dodgy review before our latest visit so were a little apprehensive but the doubts were unfounded as our visit was the best so far. The hygiene standards are excellent and we have never had any problems with the food and our daughters have been well catered for food wise !!!
If you are a young family looking to chill, have family time with good food and drink( wine and beers sold by the bottle not from a pump as we have experienced in other all inclusive resorts) then this is a well located beautiful chill out week.
I must however point out that we have always visited at the quieter half term time, not sure how it would be at high peak times !!???

Room Tip: Make sure you avoid the block above the entertainment area !!!! As a family we have never been booke...

we stayed at the barcello from the 28th august to the 4th september. from the moment we arrived, we were very impressed with the whole place. we stayed on the 3rd floor, with a fabalous sea view, room was spotless, and was cleaned to a very good standard throughout our stay.. we had half board, so had breakfast and dinner at the hotel every evening. food was very good, with a great choice. the only fault was the orange juice, which was not of a fresh whole orange.
the entertainment was very very good, and the entertainment staff work so hard to make your holiday unforgettable. they are the hardest entertainment staff that i have seen in any resort, as they were there all the time, and very talented . top marks to them all.
it was very easy to get around the resort, and magaluf was only 5 euros and about 5 minutes away in a taxi. there was a regular bus service going into palma every hour, and very reasonable at 3.50 per person
it was the best holiday, and its a hotel that we will definitly return to in the future.
credit is due to the management and the staff, who ensure to give everyone a great holiday

Having read a lot of the reviews on here we werent really sure what to expect for our holiday. I have to say we were pleasantly surprised. We had a fantastic holiday, i have never met so many different nationalities in one place ever. The language barrier wasnt an issue we all seemed to get on and communicated as best we could. We stayed in block 3 and had read reviews saying it was very noisy but to be fair we found it to be just fine, unless of course you go to bed at 10pm each night!! The food was very varied but they are catering for such of lot of different nationalities, i thought they did a tremendous job. We went all inclusive and the drinks were superb value with many branded drinks being available. The sunbeds on the beach were 5 euros per day each and there is a sign up stating the price so i dont know how people were saying they were charged 12 euros - unless of course they had 2 sun beds and a parasol!!! The staff were really friendly from the cleaners to the bar staff and animation crew - everyone was excellent. I wouldnt hesitate in recommending this hotel and we will definitely be returning. Just a tip if you are going into Magaluf then i recommend getting a taxi it is only 5 euros and it cost us 6 euros on the bus for 4 of us!! You can walk it in about 30 minutes but there are a couple of "killer hills" especially on the way back!! Enjoy

This is the second time we have visited the Barcelo Cala Vinas in so many years - so they must be doing something right? The hotel is only a 20 minute walk from Magaluf [which is full of hungry teenagers ... but actually has the most amazing beach, nice shops and good restaurants - doesn't deserve the bad press it's had in the past]. The bay of Cala Vinyes is fairly quiet - the sea is wonderful and the white sandy beach is popular with locals. There are only 2 hotels which over look the bay and beach, so whilst it is busy, you do have your own space and it doesn't feel chlaustrophobic unlike other beaches on the island in the height of season. The barcelo is built on the side of a steep hill/rock face, so there are plenty of steps which take you from the reception at the top to the bottom pool. There is a lift but during meal times that can get busy. The room was spacious and clean but I could class them as 3 star rooms not 4! The Barcelo does come into it's own if you have kids as the entertainment team work so hard during the day and evening to keep things lively. There is a top pool which is quieter but that hosts the kids club [which is great] so you may struggle if you're looking for a relaxing holiday. The food is very good, albeit a bit repetitive. We went all-inclusive and all the booze is good quality. There is a small cafe style bar overlooking the beach, which belongs to the hotel - we enjoyed nipping there every afternoon for "a couple" to get out of the sun for an hour or so. As my mother always says ..."if the kids are happy then so are the parents" - that's why we would probably go back. If it wasn't for the kids, then I think not.

Room Tip: Block 2 is nice and quiet - ask for that block!

First of all, the hotel staff are very friendly & cooperative. Also the location is quite nice. But there were some negatives as following:
1. No assestance to take your luggage to & from your room (help your self).
2. No water in the shower for not less than 2 times.
3. No voice isolation between rooms.
4. Toilet is in the middle of the room surround with sanded glass not wall, so when someone use the toilet during sleeping time everyone must wake up because of the toilet's light.

But still very good for it's location where it looks to nice calm beach and near Magaluf where you can spend nice evening there.

We've just returned from a one week half board stay at the hotel

We booked through cosmos, never again, nightmare company and rubbish service.

On arrival the hotel looks very impressive, really nice reception area and very inviting

There are 3 buildings and depending upon which one you are in then you either get no views, views of the bay or views and noise from the entertainment.

We booked a family room because we have an 18 month old and 3 year old. So the bedroom had a sliding door so you could put the kids down and still stay up to have a drink / watch TV etc. the only problem is all the 'walls' in the room were smoked glass so you go in the bathroom and turn the light on and it lights up the bedroom! I'm sure in the design stage it sounded really good but not that practical really. Room layout could have been better.
We were in block 1 so just round the corner from reception which was great because we were very close to the kids swimming pool so we could pop back to the room when the son was at its highest and the little one cold have an hours sleep. So we couldn't complain although we didn't have a view - only of the kids pool!
We also had a leaking sink in the bathroom which they came back to 4 times but couldn't fix!

We went half board which was perfect for us but lots of people were all inclusive. The food selection was really good and catered for all tastes so couldn't complain. Although there was always a massive queue for the ice cream!

Entertainment for the kids was fab as long as they want to get involved. They had they on stage playing games, dancing, singing etc. our kids loved it. This was from about 8.30 until 9.45. Then the adult entertainment started then, we didn't see this because we took the kids to bed.

They have two adult pools, one kids pool and then small 'pool' but not really a pool if you get me!

No problems with staff or service. Drinks were reasonable price. You get bigger drinks if you are paying for them compared to the all inclusive

The beech is 1 min walk, nice beach and calm sea but they charge 12 euros for a sun bed!

The hotel is on the far side of the bay to magaluf so it must be more like 2 miles to magaluf. There is a small supermarket 1 min walk away. Other than that nothing else to do locally. S you are a bit isolated if you like to go for walks etc.

We went to marineland which has dolphin shows, parrot shows etc. not a bad day out and this has its own beach so you can spend all day there.

Transfer was 1hr 45 there and the driver dropped us a the wrong hotel! It was about 1hr 30 on the return journey

The hotel is looking tired in places so not up to the 4* standard to be honest. But it's a big enough hotel to have a bit of variety

Hope you find this useful!

We had a great time in this hotel. Great food, nice rooms, 2 swimming pools, overall employees were very kind. The only thing that have to be improved is the sound isolation which is very very bad. I had to get some noisy drunk british people moved away. I will come back for sure !
