“Quality steaks, but you pay for it!”
Reviewed July 20, 2013

This popular steak house certainly attracts the punters, and for a quality steak in Empuriabrava can't be beat. However while the staff work hard, the standard of service is not the highest and they're normally too busy to spend time with each customer and occasionally glasses will remain unfilled or things such as water are not brought.

But don't let that put you off, because for a meat-lover's paradise this is definitely the place to come - and the wine list in particular is well recommended (and individually chosen by the owner). Prices approx 70 Euros for two people including wine.

“Make sure you are hungry”
Reviewed May 31, 2013

This restaurant is quite large with ample seating available. You can sit outside over looking the canal which is very pleasant. The staff are very friendly, polite and welcoming and are able to speak several different languages, effortlessly changing from English to German or French when serving at the tables. The food is very good, super tasty and the steaks are certainly huge so its worth being hungry when you go. Free WIFI is available if needed.

“2 visits that were totally different”
Reviewed September 12, 2012

We visited this restaurant twice as we loved it the first time, on our first visit the food was lovely and the staff were very accomodating and friendly (we went as 7pm when it opened in a group of 3 adults and one child) on our second visit we went later around 8.30pm with 6 adults in the group and it was very busy, the staff were forgetful, took ages to bring drinks, food was disappointing, it is obvious they work better when not so busy which is a shame. The portions here are huge too, far too much and on the first occasion there was alot of wasted food.

“The most humiliating experience”
Reviewed August 3, 2012

We had been dining a few times at El Dorado last year and 11 of us went back yesterday evening. Whilst the meat was still very good and the prices reasonable, the way we were treated by the restaurant staff was unbelievable and simply appaling. Last year, the place appeared to be run by Germans, hence polite and efficient service, but this time we had to cope with rude and arrogant Spanyards refusing to make any effort to speak any other language. To cut it short, this was potentially the most unpleasant and humiliating experience ever - civilised manners are obviously not on the menu!
