“Good for a laugh, dont take cabo too seriously!!!”
Reviewed September 25, 2009

I have just returned from a fantastic break in cabo roig on the costa blanca. Cabo roig isn't an actual town or even a resort, its a strip with bars and restaurants and high rise apartment blocks where english people come to holiday. The restauarants are all lovely and really good value, our favourite being aberdingangus half way down the strip with the most beautiful steaks, ribs cooked literally fresh off the bone with very attentive and polite staff- please note however, in this restaurant and the only place in cabo roig i noticed- the staff are all spanish speaking and have very limited english. I conisder myself on a conversational level in spanish and struggled in this restaurant when they described the food to me. However, stunning food.
There is also a lovely mexican restaurant on the way to bushwacka with lovely staff and good value for money again. Italian affair was very good too.
In cabo roig, there is also some great bars and normally (just not when i visited) great weather. Bar liquid and Bushwacka are very good bars with good music and a lively atmosphere, the first night we visited la bodegita bar because the music was excellent and the staff were great. But then every other night, they were playing the balck eyed peas elephunk album on repeat, mmmm. I think we'll leave that bar for now. Amazing shots at 1euro each though-Good times!!!
That said, if you like scenery, experiencing spanish culture, shopping or walking then this part of the coast is not for you. Cabo roig is a bit like an english community in spain. Infact it is. Lots of bumbags, bermuda shorts and socks and flip flops, need i say any more??
also, torrevieja up the road is beyond foul. The spanish costas at their worst, the place doesnt even have nice beaches. How it got to the size it is i will never know. so stay in cabo roig/la zenia/playa flamenca because this is the best area around. beaches are ok. Slightly builders sandish and a little bit blackpool-esque with the deck chair parade that invade this area. Margate with guaranteed weather.... what more could you want?? umm.

So did i have a great holiday? Yes i did. Would i cry if i never went back there? No. Will i go back there? well my friends have access to a beautiful little house in the area and flights are cheap, and i do love the bars and restaurants there.

I hope this demonstartes a little more about the area as information on thsi part of the costa blanca is very limited,

“Cabo Roig from a resident and holidaymaker!”
Reviewed September 7, 2008

My dad has lived in Cabo Roig for 5 years and i have been every year since then. It has changed a lot over the years but i love it. It is about 15-20 minutes away from Murcia airport and under an hour from Alicante airport. Torrevieja is close by about 20-30 minutes away which is a big town with a good market that is on most nights of the week.

Cabo Roig itself is basically a long strip of bars and restaurants with lots of apartments and villas around. There are lots of beaches near by within walking distance. As i said, lots of restaurants to suit all tastes. Green Chilli is a great indian there, there are a couple of wok buffets over the road from the main strip, lots of italians and pizza restaurants and some cafes and chip shop type places. If you cross the main road and walk down a bit u can get to the more spanishy areas which is also a bit cheaper! There are loads of bars there with a karaoke on every night in most places, you can always find one! The Trinity Pub located just down one of the side strips is a favourite of locals and holiday makers and The Bushwacka keeps getting bigger every year, literally! They are extending it now to make it bigger and better! It is my favourite place to go!

Cabo Roig is conveniently located by lots of places. Campoamor is the next urbanisation over which is a bit more spanishy. Just up the road is La Zenia which has some good bars and a bit further up the N332 (i think it is) is Playa Flamenca (Flamenca Beach) which has lots of good bars too. Villa Martin is also a bit further down and has a good carvery restaurant. There are lots of big supermarkets located close by and taxis that arent too expensive. On the strip there is a British supermarket which sells everything (at the back of the strip) and there are also chinese nick nack shops! Near by is a go kart track and quad biking and there are various watersports a the beaches you can do.

I have holidayed here and also lived there for a few months this summer so i have perspective from both sides. I would say the main season starts mid-june and can last until end of sept mid oct. There is lots to do for a holiday and u cant really get bored of the strip in a week. We ventured more to Playa Flamenca when we fancied a change, but we always ended up back at Bushwacka until kicking out time at about 3.30 then went to Trinity until 4am. There is also a Pacha club in Torrevieja which is open in summer til 6am.

You could also take a day trip to Benidorm where its cheaper and has lots ofthings to do. Terra Mitica is great. Terra Natura is good for kids with dolphin shows and sealion show and parrott shows and lots of animals etc. Mundo Mar is a huge water park there too. There is also a water park in Torrevieja called Aquapolis.

I'd say this place is ok for families because all the accomodation has pools and beaches nearby and there is a big shopping centre in Torrevieja called the Habaneras which is great and there is a cinema and arcade so theres something to do. The Calypo Bar across the main road is great for kids (not great for teenagers or young adults!!!) but bars that allow smoking inside dont allow kids in after 9pm or 10pm so that can be a problem.

All in all its a great place to visit. Also my dad does airport transfers and does a taxi service to supermarkets etc and can also get accomodation so drop me a message if you want any details or have any more questions!
