“Nothing Special”
Reviewed March 18, 2013

Returned from two weeks half-board at Bahia Flamingo. Not impressed when shown to a ground floor room, because of lack of privacy. However, gradualy realised it had some advantages, mainly not having to use the stairs! Sun loungers immediately outside the doors
and noise was uncomfortable. Pool was very cold, and at times the food was at best tepid.
Staff tried hard and were always helpful and pleasant. Value for money - Just!!
P.S. To management -have a look at the height of the wardrobe rails- you would need to
be at least 6ft 6" tall to hang clothes.

Room Tip: Go upstairs if you are young and fit.

I echo the comments of most of recent customers to this hotel, staff are all young and very helpful and polite , rooms and pool kept very clean, food was a bit hit and miss ,lunchtimes food was on again in the evenings potatoes and veg used in soups and salad ,we stayed 2 weeks fully inclusive, big mistake never more than one person serving any of the bars ,small drops of coffee, ale and lemonades in tiny plastic cups, its a shame really because it could be ever so much better if the management solved some of these issues Be aware there is no chemist in Playa Arena its about half an hour walk to Puerto Santiago, and about an hour walk to Los Gigantes which is well worth a visit. There is a bus service a few minutes walk in either direction to Los Gigantes and LosChristianos.

Room Tip: No lifts so people with chest problems should stick to the ground floor.

We got a great deal for this hotel for partial board and were a bit apprehensive about it considering how inexpensive it was and also because of some of the reviews that we saw. So, with limited expectations, we were delighted with this hotel. We had a big spacious 1 bedroomed apartment although we were only expecting a bedroom. It was quiet at night which meant that we slept very well. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The pool area was lovely and everyone occupying the sunbeds were very considerate of other people so it was possible to snooze the day away under the warm sunshine. There were many young couples with babies and small children but they didn't disturb the peace either. The hotel was well positioned near the beach (with black volcanic sand), bars & restaurants. We enjoyed the breakfasts but we did get a bit tired of eating dinner in the hotel all the time so we ate out on a few occasions. We wish we could have stayed longer and we wouldn't hesitate to book this hotel again. Anyone could find fault with the best and most expensive of hotels and if we wanted we could look for fault in the detail but the overall experience was great and we feel that this hotel deserves a lot more good reviews. We got fantastic value for money and really think that reviewers should bear this in mind when they are tempted to write negative reviews.

First the good points, Rooms were clean and tidy, TV in our room wasn't brilliant. All rooms had good views and good size balconies. The swimming pool was a good size and there were plenty of sun beds, most people got up early and got their towels on the new batch of sun beds nevertheless the older sun beds were still comfortable. There wasn't much natural shade but parasols were available. The pool bar was well run and had plenty of choice.
Being all inclusive the quality and choice of the food is highly important. There was always plenty of salad and fruit. Hot food was hit and miss! Sometimes only just warm not hot. One thing is for sure there is plenty to go at, we all have come away a few pounds heavier.

Bad points, sadly the evening entertainment was a total let down, we spent two evenings in the bar / entertainment room. The first night there was a poor attempt at Karoke and music! This only made enjoyable by a hen party in the room. If left to the host - compare it would have been a disaster. The second evening was a large folk, singing and dancing local group which got some members of the audience up and dancing.
The entertainment board details didn't encourage us to go back for a third night hence we ended up taking a short walk to a pub, The Blarney Stone which had entertainment and a friendly welcoming atmosphere. Nevertheless, having paid for all inclusive this did mean paying out for drinks.
Overall, I thought the Hotel had huge potential but with a bit more thought and a different approach it could be a real winner,

Just back from here. The staff are very nice and any problems are seen to straight away. The room are basic fairly roomy but the bathrooms are very shabby. The cleaner came each day she changed our towells daily as there was no way to dry them. They don't seem to use any cleaning products the bath was scummy and the sink. dirty paintwork I cleaned the door with a dettol wipe as it was really stained. The floor I think was just wiped over with a dirty mop as when I walked over the floor in bare feet the state of the soles of my feet said it all. Also no aircon only a fan so the room smelt musty. The food for me was the worst iv ever had in a three star hotel it was just slops. Soup made from leftovers called chefs special. !! Bacon dripping in oil. Very rare to have potatoes. Chips and rice. All the food was in a liquid of sorts even the salad was wet. Very poor choice of deserts and melted ice-cream. The drinks were fine but only in tiny plastic cups and when asked for coffee it was half a small praetor cup had to ask them to top it up. Had to have two cups to make one. Wouldn't stay in this area again as not a lot going on the beach is tiny and waves huge. But if you would like a quieter holiday away from the big resorts you may like the area but I would recommend paying more for a better hotel.

Room Tip: I would ask for a higher floor. We were on the ground floor due to my arthritis but you get people w...
