“Surprise - good value for money”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 30, 2014

Overall nice stay there!

First of all - the hotel had interesting offer (maybe with small mistake of price or because of booking in advance). 6 people and we had 2 rooms - so two appartments with 2 bedrooms (just one with sea view). The another one was not so good - terrace next to the corridor. A little bit dark.

We had halfboard. Good choice, but so many fried food (because of englisgh guests?).

Puerto Santiago and Los Gigantes is fabulous, not so many people there (like in Play de las Americas or Puerto de la Cruz). It was our third visit in this area. And sometimes, we will come back.

Stay - june 2012.

I stayed here on a family holiday and it was quite nice. The apartments are big and clean, the only problem was there was not enough cutlery/bowls/plates etc, but this wasn't a huge deal. There is street parking, and as it is a quiet area the cars are safe. There is an ok selection of restaurants in the area but avoid the Mexican! We were waiting an hour and a half for our starter, a portion of garlic bread! There's a very quaint little bar about 20 meters up the hill from the hotel, bar dorto, which is lovely and very cheap! The pool is nice with plenty of deck chairs, although it was winter when I visited, i imagine it would be much busier and crowded during the summer. The beach is approx 500 metres away and Los Gigantes is about a 5 minute drive. The wifi is a bit hit and miss and only available in the lobby, but overall I would be happy to stay here again.

the worst thing that happened was that they had bedbugs in all of our beds! My children,me and my husband are bit
everywhere! The room itself is clean but the mattresses and pillows are old and have bugs in them which is horrible, also we had full board and we had to pay for mineral water!!!!very big mistake!!!!never again.

We stayed here for 10 days self catering. It was a large apartment and spotlessly clean.
The kitchen utensils were a little strange, amongst other things there were no teaspoons.
TV was Spanish except for Discovery and Disney channels, but then again I didn't go on holiday to stay in so that wasn't a problem.
There was free wifi in reception which although it didn't work on a couple of occasions was quite good and not slow.
Even though the hotel was quite busy, the pool never was.
The beds were comfortable and the aircon worked well.
The chambermaids came regularly and worked fast although they did leave quite a shabby towel one day but it did get changed when it was pointed out so no problems there.
The water supply did dry up on a couple of occasions for a couple of hours but that got sorted.
All in all a reasonable hotel at a good price in a great location with a nice sea view.

Have recently returned from a weeks stay in a one bedroomed self catering apartment in this hotel. Check-in was easy despite the fact that we didn't arrive until 10.30 in the evening. The young lady on the desk was very helpful and efficient.

The room apartment was large enough for 3 of us, with plenty of storage in the form of drawers, wardrobes etc Everywhere was spotlessly clean. The kitchen was basic but adequate for our needs. I would agree that the water is very hot and some of the decor a bit tired.

I was concerned about previous reviews regarding the food but as we self cater it didn't worry me unduly, however due to our late arrival we had breakfast in the hotel the first morning. The only criticism I could make is that they don't have proper English tea. There was a wide variety of hot and cold food, fruit, cereals, yogurts, rolls etc plus different types of juice, coffee and tea.

The staff were very approachable, willing and helpful. We hired air con for a very reasonable price and the safe for 2 euro per night plus deposit for safe return of remotes and keys.
The Ritz it isn't but it is a good hotel - we would stay there again.

What a tired looking place, with staff to match. They say first impressions count, so we we're depressed on checking in!! We're a couple with 3 children.
WARNING: THERE IS NO TEMPERATURE CONTROL ON THE WATER. Our 7 year old used to bidet to clean his bum when we arrived and and got so badly scalded he needed to see a doctor. He then spent the whole holiday with cream and dressings on his bum.
When we got in the apartment the kids ran about playing hide and seek and one returned with a pube on his shoulder!!! So had a good look round and the place was dirty everywhere. So first task was a trip to the supermarket to get cloths and disinfectant. After WE cleaned the apartment, things looked better and wasn't too bad for the price. However it was frustrating that everytime the cleaner visited the room while we were out she left long black hairs around the sink and apartment.
I think she must have also used the pool as that was full of hair too!! I'd suggest you don't use it as was very small and the cloudy water hid the dirt that lurked at the bottom. The overflow grate around the edge looks like it hadn't cleaned for ... well, I should say just hadn't been cleaned! Black mould and all kinds of dirt was in there. As for the pool's surroundings, it probably looked good when the place was built and looks like that was the last time it was maintained. Good news for swimmers is the beach is lovely and just a short walk away.
The laundry consisted of one machine costing 5 Euro, and one dryer costing 4 Euro. These are tucked away round a long dark corridor, so don't go alone if nervous. Oh yes, there's no security staff either.
We looked at the all you can eat buffet in the hotel as it looked reasonably priced. The only good thing to say is food in the area is nice and we highly recommend the tapas bar near the beach. The hotel buffet looked so bad we didn't risk tasting so can't comment any more on that.
There was a lovely view from the balcony on the 7th floor, however due to the drainage in the area there was also a constant hot public toilet odour wafting across.
A few faults on the apartment, radio didn't work, phone plug on wall in master bedroom was hanging off, there was bare wires on the lamp in one of the smaller rooms, oh, and the only plug was next to matress in one, so to use it on the side table meant trailing the wire across the bed!!! as the wire was too short to reach the side table going underneath, fridge leaked, plates and utensils were short in numbers for 5 of us, both doors to patio required a good slam and strong hands to lock.
The towels were changed a few times while we were there, but they all looked years old and were threadbare. Sheets got changed twice over 9 nights.
So in summary, if you go don't except a 3 star hotel / apartment, it's not. One certainty is we absolutely won't be going back.
