My husband and I spent 11 nights at this hotel in June and I must say we had a Fabulous holiday, we'd booked a superior room and the views where fantastic, the staff all worked very hard and nothing was to much trouble for them , the maid service was excellent ,restaurant staff were always pleasant and the food was always good quality and hot . There was a problem with the towels on sunbeds ( so when in Rome ) but I must add we used our sunbed all day apart from when we went to the restaurant for our meals, some people reserved beds then didn't use them until late afternoon ( So unfair ). The spa was so relaxing , the location of the hotel is more for the relaxing holiday a few bars and shops and not much for children to do so i'd say more for adults we have already enquired about going back next year well done to all the staff at the barcelo

Room Tip: its worth paying the extra for a superior room

We have stayed at this hotel on several occasions as a family of four, booking with the hotel direct, the staff always ensuring any specific requests are met.
The hotel boasts one of ,if not the best, views I have ever seen from a hotel balcony. I stayed in a junior suite delux, which looked directly onto the cliffs of Los Gigantes, which provided the "wow" factor daily. Rooms are cleaned daily with towels being replaced daily. Bedding is changed every two days. The overall standard of the rooms cannot be faulted . Cleaners work extremely hard ensuring all aspects of the hotel, including pool area are cleaned thoroughly.
Food is plentiful, varied and of a high standard. Staff within the restaurants are very efficient, polite and courteous at all times. They go out their way to talk to you and quickly get to know you, ensuring your stay is enjoyable.
Overall I cannot fault this hotel or indeed the staff. The hotel is classed as four star, however it beats and exceeds some of the five stars I have stayed in recently.
I have no hesitation in recommending the hotel, excellent stay.

Spent a very pleasant 2wks at this hotel. On arriving we thought what have we booked. The entranceis very dark & dingy & in need of freshening up. Once inside, the reception area was much better as was the rest of the hotel. we were greeted with a glass of Cava, which was welcome after the trip from the airport.
We booked a superior room which was in the main building. Thus giving us tea/coffee making facilities, water, gowns, slippers & a room higher up with a sea view. Although it looked like most rooms had a sea view. The room was cleaned everyday, sheets & towels changed regulary & toiletries replenished. The room was fine with plenty of storage, arm chairs & a mini-bar.
Being "All Inclusive" we could not fault the food or drinks, all were plentiful & the food of good quality & always hot. All the staff wer friendly & accommodating. By the end of the first week they knew what drinks we wanted with our meals & in the evening.
The entertainment staff worked hard all day & night. On the summer solstice they took us to the beach after 11p.m. to see how the locals celebrated it. They had a bonfire, all went in the sea & had a jolly good time. There were several professional act performing too.
I used the spa which was in a very calming, quiet atmosphere & relaxing.
There was an issue with sunbeds but this was being resolved when we left.
There is not much to do in the area, so you need to go on trips. We went to another island La Gomera that was a long day but well worth it. And saw the north of Tenerife & Mount Teide. But if you want a relaxing sunbed holiday this is the place to go

Room Tip: Floor 6 & up are the superior rooms.

Recently had a weeks stay here with friends and between us five 16 year old boys. Can only say good things about this hotel. Arrived just before 10pm and we were all ushered towards the dining room for dinner, had expected to go hungry that night so a welcome surprise. Hotel and pool area were very clean, staff were very friendly and helpful, lovely quiet location and (for some the most important bit) the choice of food in the restaurant was excellent-after a week never felt samey. In addition at certain times of the day you could have food at the pool bar again a good choice. Certain meals at the pool bar and some drinks in the bars weren't included in the all inclusive but very clearly marked so never a problem. Had read that it is best to avoid rooms on the lower floors because people walk past your room, well we were on floor two and yes the promenade ran close by but didn't find this a problem though perhaps if you like to walk around your room naked it might be!! Worth exploring the local area and walking down to Los Gigantes. Nice harbour area and a few shops to wander around and on the way back you pass a lovely sea pool 'walled' into the bottom of the cliff, fabulous for a swim. If I found one thing to criticise would be usual policy of early morning/back to bed sun bed hoggers being ignored though lovely life guard will go and move unbrellas from unused beds for you. Would definitely recommend and would happily go again.

Room Tip: We asked for a sea view which most rooms seem to have. Higher floors (above floor 5) have some rooms...

Just returned from a weeks stay, and I cant fault the hotel. You can expect table service at all bars with friendly staff, good food in the restaurant and snack bar and plenty of cocktails to choose from. Our room was floor 2 and we had our sea view as detailed when we booked. As with all hotels there were the usual sun lounger issues however on several occasions we went to the pool after 11am and found loungers…. if you are prepared not to be directly by the pool. The pool bar drinks and snack menu was clearly labelled detailing if it’s all inclusive or an additional charge. All local drinks and various cocktails are inclusive, however if you want brand drinks for example JD you’d expect you pay around 2.50euro.

Breakfast was served till 10.30am, lunch 1-3pm and dinner 7-10pm, snacks available in between.

Things that would have been useful to know before I travelled:

- No tea/coffee making facilities in the room
- Bathroom towels changed daily
- Toiletries provided (shower gel, shampoo, soap)
- Full size hair dryer in room
- iPod dock in room
- Pool towels available for 12euro each (refunded when returned)
- Safe 3euro per day (if you are paying cash a 10euro deposit is also required)
- Bottled water available at bars
- Several shops opposite the Hotel
- Reception bar open till 1am however after 11pm all inclusive guests are charged

Resort is generally quiet however Route 66 opposite has a live band every night and is well worth a visit!

Would definitely return in the future

Room Tip: The higher up you go the better the room 8th floor was amazing

We arrived at the hotel too late for evening meal but a cold meal had been left for us in the dining room well received. The gentleman who booked us in was charming but I don't know his name. He took us to the dining room. When we got back to the room I realised I had left my suitcase key at home he said no worries and had the security guard up at the room within minutes with a hammer and small wire cutters. He was unable to break the lock with these so disappeared for a few minutes and came back with huge bolt cutters and large hacksaw, only took him a couple of minutes with these tools. We had room 909 which was lovely with a view over the Atlantic and the island of La Gomera. At the welcome meeting we asked the rep where the bus stop was he told us outside to the left and up the 100 steps. Take no notice if they tell you this. We did climb the 100 steps but when we came back from our trip out the bus stop was just at the end of the road. Think the reps must take great joy in telling us this. The food in the hotel was much of a muchness nothing to write home about. While we were there there seemed a shortage of sunbeds but one morning the lifeguard went to all beds with towels on that had been left for over an hour put notices on them and after the hour he bundled the towels into bin bags and took them to his station. That evening there was a note put under the door to say there was to be no saving of beds. It worked as there were no towels down in the morning. Be warned your towels will go if left.
