“Good location between Los Gigantes and Arena”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 8, 2013

We stayed here half board for 2 weeks, returned home two weeks ago. The area is beautiful, peaceful, a good intersect as to Los Cristianos and Puerto de la Cruz with excellent views on the way. The hotel reception is a 4 star one, but the apartment we had in block F on the third floor was very basic; the furniture and the kitchenette were worn-out. But everything was clean, the rooms spacious, however, take care yourself they change your towels at least once a week!
The balcony was towards the hills, so we didn't have any sunshine there. The sunbeds were always reserved early in the morning, but in the afternoon we could easily find ones for ourselves.Summa summarum: we liked it there. The food offered was good, the restaurant staff were friendly. The things we could complain about were some people making too much noise, especially, at night.

Room Tip: Higher floors, rooms looking towards the sea are sunny.

This could have been a relaxing week away walking in the hills.
In the event the night times were pure hell with extremely noisy groups returning home at all times between 2 and 5 in the morning and making certain that everyone else knew about their arrivals with shouting, screaming and banging doors and furniture. Did the management do anything? Not a thing!
The walking was good however.

Stayed here all inclusive for 1 wk Feb 15th, Hotel rooms pretty basic but very spacious. (Rooms cleaned every day) Few problems but reported them they were sorted within a matter of minutes. Great view over the pool. The pool area was great although the pool was very cold BRRRR. Slighty miffed at only 2 drinks a person policy as we were a family of 3 so bit of a pain the majority of the time, but when staff got used to us they seemed to be ok giving out 3 drinks. Overall we all had a great time, hotel was really nice, we was surprised how good the food was. We did eat out a couple of nights highly recommended is the San Francisco Bar and Restuarant. The village itself is very small but hey if its peace and quiet your after this is the ideal place. Would definately go there again and for a longer break.

I stayed 10 days in this hotel. And I will never again.

Sleeping:
First 2 nights in an extremely noisy room where I could not open any window: front window was at street level at a place where touring buses took extra gas in order to take a hill - so all the fumes got into our room. back window was at pathway of the hotel where until late at night people were passing and early morning the cleaning ladies gathered for their 7 o'clock gathering - so very noisy.
The other 8 nights I demanded another room which was a lot better (noise and fumes)... But:

Cleaning:
Cleaning was done every day between 8 and 9... I explained the cleaning lady several times she should not come on a daily basis if this is her fixed schedule since we really wanted to sleep longer. Holidays are meant for that, no? But she insisted in giving a knock on the door every day and entering every day to shout out 'ola!' and then to find us in our beds... It was very annoying. Especially that she always came in the room after knocking and not waiting for us to answer. If we were up and running already we might have been naked or not ready to receive 'visitors' like this since she gave no time at all to answer. She knocked and came in. Daily. Around 8-9 o'clock. The cleaning was not well done, but sufficient for the price we paid.

Food.
The restaurant is not worth calling restaurant. I would say: a canteen underground. Although there were 4 windows, it was dark, loud, noisy, too small for the group of tourists and extremely ugly which drove us mad (yellow walls and piles everywhere). The food was a disaster. Every morning the same: greasy sausages and a yellow thing which they called 'eggs' but it was a kind of starch with yellow colour next to the greasy bacon. I had no feeling of being in a Spanish country, let alone the Canary Islands. The food was the worst version of an English cuisine. Also at night. No fresh items except tomatoes, lettuce and cucumber. All the rest were vegetables too long cooked, sometimes rice too long cooked (dry without flavour), every day chips as dry as crisps, no fresh delicious Spanish bread, but instead this spongy bread which is only good for toast and is very sweet and unfrozen 'croissants' and 'sandwiches', liters of mayonaise... really the worst buffet I have ever seen.
There was a cockroach climbing on their breakfast buffet... luckily I only saw this the last day otherwise my whole 10 days would be a disaster. I took a photo of it.

Wifi.
I took 10 days the same hotel (not of my habits) because I needed to do some extra office work wherefor I needed wifi... What do you guess? Wifi was unreliable. Sometimes yes, mostely not.

I could keep on complaining, but I think you get the picture...

Room Tip: If you really need to stay in this hotel, ask a room in the right wing of the building, under the so...

I can't believe how picky some people are... You go on holiday to ENJOY yourselves not go around looking to be dissapointed! We've recently come back from this hotel and we would 100% go back again, rooms cleaned everyday even mattress changed one a week (wich I've never seen before) the staff were friendly some more than others but still, food was lovely both at the bar and restraunt! The only thing is out card wouldn't work a couple of times and being on top floor was tireing but good exercise! VERY happy :)

stayed here all inclusive recently for two weeks, what a disappointment.Firstly most of the reception staff rude.We had to change rooms as the first one we were allocated was shocking, stunk of smoke and was damp.Ok to be fair after the receptionist was rude she reluctantly gave us another room in A block on 2nd floor. This proved to be in the noisy part of the complex we were kept awake every night until 430am in the morning so suffered for two weeks with a lack of sleep.SO DONT AGREE ON (A) BLOCK WHEN YOU ARRIVE.The food in the buffet restaurant started ok but quickly deteriorated over our two weeks here.As previous reviews any food not eaten was represented the next meal time with some garnish to make it look different.I/e breakfast eggs not eaten were served up at lunch as a spanish type of frittata.Hard boiled eggs from breakfast were added with mayonaise and other not nice things,so we steered clear of these.Veal was served up later as veal stew, shellfish not eaten was put into a paella. They were clever in trying to disguise things to get them eaten but we were not born yesterday. The plates were frequently dirty as previous reviewers have stated. When we arrived we were given a sheet with the all inclusive items supposedly we could have well it stated tea and cake in the afternoon but the cake was non existant, you couldnt have coffee throughout the day only with breakfast.Other things on the list all inclusive you looked for but could not have so very misleading we feel. The restaurant manager WAS ALWAYS RUDE.We ordered picnics under the all inclusive plan for the next day, when collecting them in the restaurant bar the dark haired lady who is always working in the evening at the bar made us wait till 9PM, we were polite to her,but she would happily give the picnics to other nationalities no problem. After this happened a few times my wife and I complained to the restaurant manager who just laughed in our face. The second week we clearly witnessed another unhappy holiday maker complaining about the food presented and the manager just laughed at him too!The room wifi which cost 20 pounds a week proved useless was only slightly faster than the old style dial up internet in the uk,it never got any faster than 76mpbs i could only basically send slow emails couldnt surf the web pages never loaded,so stick to the free wifi in reception DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON ROOM WIFI LIKE I DID.The roof safe at 25 pounds a week is a rip off,the safe is only made in flimsy metal we didnt trust it and carried our valuables with us at all times which was a little foolish we know but I wouldnt have peace of mind trusting the safe. The room was very tired furniture seen better days needs upgrading, I had backache for two weeks as the mattresses were poor and urine stained. The beds were not changed all the time we was there,no double beds only singles so pushed together would easily pull apart, the towels were only changed twice in two weeks. Some previous reviews state the barbecue is great and you can get kebabs etc under all inclusive.WELL YOU CANT we were only allowed hamburgers which were overcooked and cheap sausages all other items it clearly states on the menu above the counter are to be paid for,and as others have said the pidgeons contantly feed from the counter and the tables. The man serving at the barbecue was rude to us,when we arrived not sure what to do he just pointed to the trays as if to say get on with it dont disturb me!The drinks are served in small plastic cups so its an effort if you wanted to get drunk,if you like a drink. The club on site is tiny mainly for children and their parents not much room inside so we sat outside as its the only place to get a drink after 9pm.as the other bar closed when the restaurant closed. Some night we went out to the restaurants outside as the buffet that poor.
As our first abroad holiday in a hotel and we both 50years plus it was a bad experience and a sour taste in the mouth,so others beware when you book Tamaimo Tropical in Puerto de Santiago. And as other have said whichever way you walk its HILLS STEEP HILLS so a good way to keep fit....

Room Tip: Dont get a room on A block being the opposite side to reception very noisy Beware..
