The hotel was clean and well looked after, but was quite far from Las Ameriacas after Thomas Cook had told us 15 min in a taxi, which was a lie!
Rooms were a good size and very clean.

Buffet style, all inclusive with decent variety, but overall average.

Good for a mid price range/ late deal holiday.

This hotel is centrally situated. It's slightly dated but spotlessly clean. The staff are very helpful.
The food is always fresh, varied, healthy and lots of it and was 'home cooked'. I'm bordering on veggie and there were always chick peas and puy lentils, always fish and always cheese (& biscuits).
The dining room was very well organised and although we were there over the busy Easter period it never seemed TOO busy. The food was regularly replenished and was never just 'stood'.
We enjoyed the 20 mins. walk down to Las Arenas and in the other direction to Los Gigantes but other than that there's not really much else to do.
I wasn't overly impressed with where the evening entertainment was situated. It was a relatively small room, with a small bar, with one member of staff (hence queues at the bar) and all entertainment that we got to see was very amateurish.
On most nights, instead, we used to walk up to the Barcelo hotel. The entertainment was brilliant, very professional, we'd sit in a big (proper) entertainment room, with a wicker table & chairs, with speedy waiter service for drinks. Although it's a 4* hotel the drinks were very reasonably priced. They do a great cuppuccino with whipped cream on the top! Something that you couldn't get at the Tamaimo .......... the coffee machines were only switched on for breakfast. I really missed being able to sit and have a coffee after my lunch or after my evening meal.
Also red wine and lager were on tap in the dining room, but only in the evenings. Not at lunch time.
I liked having the microwaves to use in the dining room in the mornings ..... ideal for warming up croissants!
The only other draw back for me was there was absolutely nowhere to go at night other than the small, very loud, very packed entertainment room. If you wanted to sit in a nice social area with a drink there wasn't anywhere. Again the Barcelo had a lovely big, bright, modern bar area with tables and chairs and waiter service for drinks. It was much more upmarket!
We also found an English bar across the road from there called 'The Courtyard'. Although it was a bit cheesy the acts were good/funny and the kids loved it. We met lots of other English people in there too.
I loved the free internet access. Free WiFi in reception (get a code) or computers to use, which you pay for.
The rooms were extremely basic but again very clean and nice hot showers.
The rooms were very noisy but after around midnight the whole hotel became very quiet until morning.
The beds and pillows were relatively comfortable.
Our towels were changed every two days and sheets every four days.
The only other downside was that over the Easter bank holiday weekend the place was all of a sudden inundated with Spanish tourists. They talk about 'Brits Abroad' ........ my goodness. They were SO noisy! At one point we had to complain as a group of younger lads were BLASTING music from there apartment, which overlooked one of the pools. They took over. The hotel did act upon it. I also complained to the life guard one day too, as they were being so rowdy and the life guard acted upon it straight away.
We'd heard rumours (may or may not be true) that the majority of them had come over from Gran Canaria on our equivalent 'Sun' newspaper voucher deal. The rep. commented that the hotel were fed up of them all ............ WHY PARTICIPATE THEN?!! This apparently occurs every Easter so maybe something to be aware of if that's the time of year you're looking to book.
Overall we had a good holiday. However, I must admit that after 10 nights I was starting to get a little bored with the monotony of being all inclusive. We found out that we could have stayed at the 4* Barcelo on Half Board for a similar price to what we'd paid to stay here all inclusive. Barcelo, for me, would have won hands down.

We have just been back to the Tamaimo for a week 27th april-4th May 2012. We had not stayed there for 2 years as we decided to have a change for our winter sun holiday. We did Sharm el shekh (Royal albatross Moderna) which was very good and this February the so called 5 star Hilton taba Resort which was disastrous !Problem with egypt is that the light starts to disappear around 4pm so makes for a short day. When a last minute Thomas Cooke All inclusive package came up for Tamaimo we jumped at it and so glad we did. What a wonderful week in the sun.
The Tamaimo has only changed in one respect. They have now got security fencing all around the perimeter of the hotel. It does not look pretty but I can understand the reason for it. We had never had any problems with break ins or security at the hotel in the 6 times we have stayed their but I have read on Tripadvisor that others have. The fencing can not be seen from any of the rooms that I am aware of but it has blocked the extra 3 or 4 entrances into the complex from off the street. This means that all visitors enter and exit via Reception...problem solved.
It was good to see so many of the old staff still there. They are all, polite, helpful, happy and very very hard working. It was a quiet period for them so they were renovating the main restaurant and doing maintenance on the big pool area. Neither of these work programmes interfered with our holiday. It was good to use the smaller Morocolla restaurant for a change. There was never a problem getting a table and the selection of food was as always very good. I would rate this hotel the top end of 3 star.Breakfast always had "full English" and then continental breakfast choices. Hot drinks are self service from a dispensary machine with good quality coffee and chocolate etc.Lunch and Dinner had a good soup each day, salad bar and fish, roast meats, pasta, meat "stews" something for everyone. .oh, and chips of course.
Drinks outside the restaurant are served in plastic cups for the obvious reason that people are drinking around the pool areas and outside the nightclub. I would rather stand on a plastic cup than broken glass thank you ! Wine and spirits are of a reasonable standard and no shortage of filling up your drinks again.
The area of Los Gigantes is as peaceful and timeless as ever. The walk from the Tamaimo over there takes about 15 minutes and well worth it
.Evening entertainment in the hotel was good. There were 4 professional acts on during the week we stayed and the other nights have karaoke, quizzes and bingo. The entertainment team is enthusiastic and keeps the atmosphere high. Of the professional acts we saw, Robbie Williams tribute act and proper flamenco show were a must.
We were in a 1 bed apartment which was clean and had comfortable single beds. The sofa bed in the lounge was a bit dodgy and I wouldnt fancy sleeping on it for long. There was noise at night but coming over from the music bars outside the complex. They have to stop a bit before midnight so not too bad.We had ear plugs with us ! However , we knew we could ask for a move and it would be no bother if it became unbearable'...which it didn't. It was so quiet through the rest of the night that we were sleeping in till about 8 o'clock
Since we were last there, there has been an extra bus added to the Titsa service. It is a fast straight through (?) run down to Playa de Las Americas which I understand takes about 45 minutes. Don' t know how much dearer it is than the usual route bus (but must be cheaper than a taxi I would think )if you fancy a night down in the bright lights.
We are already booked to go back in July ,which is the first time for us to go in the summer months.Obviously we are paying twice as much because of the time of year but still think it is worth every penny for this little gem of a no nonsense value for money hotel. Why did we ever go anywhere else grrrrrrrrrrrr.

Room Tip: We stayed in block H and will request the same room when we go back in July. The reason for this is...

We stayed at the Tamaimo 17th April to 24th April all inclusive, for a 3star it was good value, food was reasonable if sometimes a little repetitive, accomodation was good and kept clean but a little dated, some upgrading of the hotel was taking place as we left, very friendly and efficient staff, one downside of the all inclusive was drinks including tea and coffee were dispensed in small plastic glasses even in the bar,a little off putting at times, proper cups were however used at breakfast and glasses at lunch and dinner.
The area is very nice with walks to nearby Los Gigantos if you were able to cope with lots of hills, otherwise there were many reasonably priced taxis and regular local buses to most of the Island which made trips to other resorts very easy, all in all a good holiday.

Room Tip: All rooms on the four floors have pool views, we appreciated being on the top floor and located on t...
