“Always imaginative”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 17, 2013

Menu of the day never disappoints, its creative, tasty, well presented and excellent value. The chef is superb and the staff are always professional and polite. Its not in the best location as its on the main road and doesn't overlook the sea, but it has to be one of the best restaurants in the area for food and service.

“A bit underwhelmed ...”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 19, 2013

On the basis of several enthusiastic recommendations we booked a table for six on our last evening before returning to the UK. We sat. And waited. And waited.... After 20 minutes we managed to attract the attention of a waiter and drinks then arrived reasonably promptly. There was a large and extremely noisy family party, which attracted a lot of staff attention at the very time we were trying to order. Clearly, we had arrived at an I opportune moment. We were seated near the door, and the chain-smokers sharing their smoke with us did not improve matters.
Melon and Serrano ham was excellent, as was the fish soup - tasty with plenty of fish. The tomato soup, by contrast, lacked flavour. My main course was beef goulash, which was nicely presented and the beef was slow-cooked and tender. I would have liked it to be a bit more peppery, but I accept that some diners would have found that overdone. You can't please everybody. Chicken breast with curry sauce was enjoyed too, though the curry sauce was very mild. Pork medallions were well received, as was the chicken. By then the bedlam had eased somewhat, the chain-smokers had departed and the staff became more interested in other diners. I really looked forward to Apple Strudel, and I have to say that the filling was delicious. But the pastry - oh dear. Flabby, doughy and simply awful. To be fair, the raspberries with ice-cream looked nice and were well received.
Prices were reasonable, and the wine list short but representative.
I have a feeling that we may have caught this restaurant off guard, and a repeat visit might have been enjoyed more.
Will we go back? Perhaps - but that awful apple strudel lingers on....

“You must book”

What a fantastic restaurant this is. Only problem being you have to book in advance but it is well worth it.

“What is there not to like......”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 31, 2013

Eating at Juan Lanas for Sunday lunch was a splendid experience. We stopped by chance and got one of the two remaining available tables, an indication of just how popular this restaurant is. The service and choice of menu was quite outstanding and the quality of food as well as its presentation was testament to a highly skilled chef. . This restaurant is a gem and easily out performs many others in the area. Unfortunately we returned to the UK before having the opportunity to return but next year it will be our first choice.
