“Could be so much better”
Reviewed February 13, 2014

Booked this in all good faith after reading a glowing professional website. The apartment 313 is spacious. But extremely tired. If you do not wear slippers whilst in the apartment you will have to wash your feet several times a day! The cleaning is done as best as the young girls are able with the equipment and time at their disposal. The pool advertised as one of the only heated pools around was so cold it took your breath away, and the baby pool was even colder. The snack bar was closed almost all of the time. We arrived at 8.30pm and the place was in darkness. Fortunately the odd job man saw us and unlocked the reception and took us to our room.
New to the area it would have been useful if reception staff had been present to tell us about the Supermarket behind the complex so that we could have bought something for supper!
This particular apartment is not that well equipped for the price that we payed.
We like the area and will be returning next year, but will be staying at La Rosa down the road which we believe to be more professionally managed and the facilities provide better value for money.

Looked good online, we reserved this through RCI Weeks, but our room (305) was nothing like shown online.
Los Gigantes is for me, one of the most beautiful areas on the island (I like rocks!). I was expecting to enjoy the views of the coast from our room; what a disappointment!! It was 2 levels up from reception, but close to the street at the back of the resort. It is in the rear building, at the corner of the V shape of the building; this location gave us only a view of the concrete wall of the first building, a tiny balcony, NO sun at all, and a very dark, cave-like apartment. That combined with the infestation of bugs (ants, I think, they were microscopic but plentiful!) made our stay in the room unpleasant. We tried to get moved, but they were full of course.
It is a combined timeshare, rented, owned facility that we heard the owner was trying to sell. Felt like he had already given up. We actually stayed away from the apartment as long as we could, because it was so depressing.
The kitchen was very poorly equipped; 1 knife, a non-functioning coffee maker, but lots of ants....
We had difficulty sleeping on the rock hard beds; the 2 mattress pads they had were 'in use'. We had the trash bin emptied several times, but the apartment was cleaned only 1 time during our week stay, with one change of towels.
The staff was not very supportive or helpful (although I did get my 10 euros back for the wifi not working - if you can consider this a positive point!!)
We did learn a lesson from this; in the future I will attempt to get a schematic of the resort layout to see where we will be located. Reasonable places will provide this.
We went to see Las Rosas, just down the street and it looks wonderful; our next destination.

Room Tip: If you get room 305 - do not even look at the room - insist on something else!!! The rental rooms I...

Service is terrible, staff are rude. Room was infested with ants and in baby's cot. Not had hot water in 3 days and had to ask for clean towels.. This is the worse experience I have ever had being on a family holiday. Booked a room with a sea view, only view we have is of big building in font, no sea!!! Have to go through a dark car park to get to our room.. Struggled to find our room on the first night asked staff of they could show us but still no help!! My parter is an athlete and is in training, Advertised on the website there is a gym on site which is of the main reasons we booked!!! This is the worse place I have Ever stayed and been treated so poorly.. I would not recommend this to anyone definitely one to be avoided.

This comples has the potential to be good. The apartments are spacious and the pool area is clean and well looked after. However we were told that the management company had changed about 4 months ago and it is obvious that they are simply NOT spending money on the place. Our apartment was reasonably well furnished but the amount of crockery, glasses and cutlery for the four people who were there (the apartment sleeps 6!!) was insufficient. Although it states quite clearly in the booklet in the apartment that it will be cleaned twice per week, the reception staff informed us that this has now been cut to once per week as the number of cleaning staff has been cut. When the apartment was eventually cleaned, after two requests, I'm afraid the cleaning was a 'lick and a promise'. This was probably not due to the efficiency of the cleaner but rather the lack of time she had to clean each apartment.
Although a Pool Bar/Restaurant is advertised, it too has been closed!
An RCI consultant who called on us informed us that the new management company were putting a great new marketing plan into place as if this would sort out all the complex's problems. Money spent on actually cleaning up the resort, equipping it properly and staff training would be much
more advantageous!
I certainly would not stay here agin, nor would I advise any of my fired to do so.

If you have read reviews on el marques palace, you know its excellent. The main thing other than nice accomocation and good location, stunning cliffs in scenery, are that the pool and facilites are amazing. The location was not that busy compared to los christianos, and we found that as we had a car, it was only 40 mins to anyl theme parks like aqualand and jungle epark etc. loro parque is 1.5 h or so which was quite hard. close by is masca, although we didint do it as kids were too scared ! probably do that one next time when they are braver. There aere at least 3 nearby beaches, e.g. los gogantos harbour there there is one, playa de la arena which was brilliant due to large waves which my kids loved! so make sure you find that one earlier. opposite that beach and a little further up the road there is also some very cheap supermarket.

in short, if you want to make your family happy and you can afford 2/3 bed apparment with washing machine and all mod cons, this place is the business and so are th kind staff who are most welcoming and accomodating.100% would come here again if i could ..

My family (husband and 2 daughters 21& 23) and I stayed in a 2 bed apartment with fantastic view over the sea to the island of La Gomera. The apartment is very well equipped with everything you need, including a washing machine. Everything was spotlessly clean. There are two modern bathrooms. The terrace is very spacious with a table and chairs and two sun loungers. The living area is very comfortable with plenty of books to borrow, a large flat screen tv with satellite programmes (mainly English - ITV, BBC, SKY) and a choice of dvds.
El Marques Palace is within easy walking distance of a variety of restaurants and the supermarket is literally across the road (at the back so your view is not spoilt). It is situated on a hill so not for those with mobility problems, although taxis are not expensive.
There is a lovely little pool bar where you can get drinks and snacks until 6:00pm. The pool is large and there is a baby pool. There are plenty of sunbeds and when we were there we had our choice of spots each day.
Reception staff are multilingual and very helpful.
Terrym@birlingsbarn who arranged our stay and pick-up from the airport was exceptionally helpful, from our first enquiry to our return home.
One of our best holidays. We will definitely return.

Room Tip: The higher the room the better the view - there are lifts!

Lovely clean apartment complex on the third floor with exceyllent views out to sea and of the gigantes rocks. The apartment block is located in the heart of puerto santiago area with several local eateries near by, alternatively, you can stroll (15mins) into the playa arena area or los gigantes for a wider selection of restaurants, however you will need to tackle a hill on returning to the complex though its only 3 euros in a taxi from either areas.
