My family and I have just returned from 8 days at this wonderful hotel and here's our unbiased opinion:
1) The Splendit service is fantastic and worth the extra cost, with a gold wrist band, everything is free, fresh beach towels each day, free mini bar - replenished daily, selected seating area in the restaurant, choice of pillows, free paper delivered each day - it's a long list.
2) The staff are extremely attentive, helpful and very professional especially Patricia and the team on reception.
3) We reviewed food/bug comments on here before choosing this fabulous hotel. It's a hot climate with a huge food hall. If you stick with food which you are used to and from the hot plates, there really isn't a problem.
4) We have re-booked for Christmas 2013, our girls (12 & 8) insisted that this was the best holiday ever!!

We stayed at this hotel from the 12th-19th April for one week, there was 6 adults and 1 2 year old.
We had a fantastic time, we even got vouchers each to use the spa free of charge, it was fantastic and def recommend going.
The hotel rooms were very clean indeed. They were the best rooms we have stayed in.
Plenty of room, separate bedroom and living area, 2 large balconies and lots of wardrobe space.
Entertainment on every night which was good.
No problems getting sun beds and umbrellas, you can use there pool towels with a small refundable deposit but we all had our own anyway.
None of us had any problems with the food, we read before we went that people were ill with sickness but we were all fine.
The weather was good and we would all return again to this hotel.
This was our daughter's first holiday abroad and she cried when we had to leave, she loved it there!

We have just returned form the Luabay Costa Los Gigantes, or Holiday Village, Tenerife.
Had the most amazing week, with two kids age 10 and 13.
Staff were friendly and helpful, hotel very clean, staff always cleaning all areas. Hotel room very spacious and maid service daily. Pool great, very clean.
Food in buffet restaurant was very good, a great selection for children as well.
Went to the speciality restaurants, food was fab!! All part of the all inclusive.
Loved it so much hope to return later in the year.
Oh and no signs of any sickness bug!!

Room Tip: Block L faces the main pool area. Great with kids.

Four of us spent a week at the hotel recently.

The accommodation was absolutely first class; the room was more like a suite with two sleeping areas. The standard was on a par with many other five star hotels we have stayed in around the world.

The restaurant was not like a conventional all inclusive dining area. The standard of the food was extensive and of very high quality. In addition we ate at special a la carte restaurants on a couple of evenings.

We particularly liked the bar areas which were very well designed and had relaxed atmosphere. The bar staff were always very friendly.

We tended to spend our days around one on the quiet pools which was well served by a snack bar. There was also a family pool with a large slide which appeared to be fun.

Two of our party visited the on-site spa and I was informed it was excellent.

It is our 25th wedding anniversary in August and we have booked a 10 day trip for FIFTEEN people. That's how much we enjoyed it!

This is the first time I have ever felt a place deserved a Trip Advisor recommendation and if I could have given it 6 stars I would have done.

We visited the Luabay from 5th -16th April 2013. After staying here in April 2011. A family of 4,, with two kids aged 15 and 10. I was so looking forward to the "PROPER" coffee machine just like Costa's but sadly they took it out nearly 2 years ago when First Choice took over. We used to get the beach/pool towels changed daily,, not any more, every two days now,, Apparently to save water LOL.. I guess we had these expectations that it was going to be as good as last time, maybe it's not the same when you visit any hotel for a 2nd time ? But we still had a good time. Food in the A La Carte restuarants definately not as good as it used to be. We tried all three menus,, Mexican, Italian and The Grill.. We thought that the grill was by far the best. Good choice of facilities for the kids,, high wire ropes, tennis court, 5 a side pitch, crazy golf etc, etc, They used to have a free kids event night on a Wednesday complete with Rodeo Bull and other fun stuff.. That's all stopped too. I did complain about having no hot water at some of the gents toilets, levels 1 and 2 but the same toilets had no hot water for our complete holiday. One other problem we encoutered was that the glasses were never cleaned properly, this was in the bars and main buffet restaurant, Constant lipstick marks and remains of fresh orange etc.. I started to use the disposable plastic cups more often. Regarding the sickness bug, we were all fine although I was very surprised at the stupidity of some people, mostly adults who queue for food and use ladels, ice cream scoops etc and then lick their fingers. How disgusting and no wonder these bugs are spread so quickly. All staff very nice and polite, entertainment not bad, probably average for a 4* hotel. This is still a good hotel but feel that a few corners have been cut to save ££££'s. Buffet food was never very hot unless you got it as soon as it came out of the oven. Would we visit again ? Probably not, as the little extras that have been taken away make all the difference to your holiday. If you've booked this hotel i'm sure you will still have a great time. REMEMBER,, NO LICKING FINGERS IN THE QUEUES ,,LOL..

Myself, my wife and 2kids (3 and 7) stayed here for 10 days recently and had such a good time we’ve already booked to return in December for 10 days.

Our children were entertained from early in the morning till late at night with the kids club doing a variety of activities from t-shirt painting, cookie making, water balloon fights, pirate days etc. than into the evening where they done a mini disco followed by a show which went on till about 10.30pm, if this didn’t keep them entertained they then had the soft play area, playground, mini golf, high ropes, water slide/inflatable and pony rides.

The spotlessly clean buffet restaurants had a wide range of food and even a fussy eater would find something to eat, tables always available and if it got busy they would immediately open the overflow, which was fantastic. The dessert section was the best I’ve ever experienced! The speciality restaurants were all gorgeous and in our 10days we got to experience all 3 (Italian, Mexican and grill) The only complaint was that there was only one kind of white or red wine which was served in the all restaurants and it was bitter.

The bedrooms are a great size with 32” plasma TV’s in both the living area and the bedroom room and a mini bar that gets stocked up every day with beer, coke and water.
The pool area was clean and spread out meaning people weren’t on top of each other. The pools were sometimes a bit on the cold side, especially down at the waterslide. It was easy to get sunbeds.

The all-inclusive package is very good and includes most drinks, cocktails (NOT from a machine!), soft drinks, slush puppies and ice cream, my kids especially loved that they could go help themselves to drinks and slush puppies at the pool bar.

All in all this was a great hotel and we have no major complaints or gripes. Our kids loved the hotel mascot, Luby, so much that they literally haven’t stopped talking about him since we got home… in December. It’s now April!

Having seen all the latest reviews, regarding illness and food hygiene i decided to make contact with First Choice and directly with the Hotel, the only reply was from the Hotel and is a followed.

Regarding your air conditioning, we would like to inform you that it is working all day. However, we would like to clarify that all the windows and doors must be closed in the room. Otherwise, it will not work properly.
In reference to the sickness , I would like to inform you that it is NOT caused by the food and/or hygiene standards of the hotel. The bug is spread all around the island and effects not only the people in the hotels but also the residents of Tenerife itself.
I am pleased to tell you that the amount of reports regarding this sickness has become less. We immediately disinfect the room and its surroundings since we have been reported. Furthermore I can assure you that we remain to handle the hygiene procedures that are being taken in the hotel, which are certified.
For further information, do not hesitate to contact with us.
