We stayed at Gorilla Mist Camp for two nights while tracking gorillas at the Ruhija trailhead. It was beautiful and the service was the best that I've encountered in a long time. I would highly recommend this place.
When we arrived the first night, we were greeted with fresh juice and a 5 course meal that was delicious. I had notified them ahead of time that I was a vegetarian and they created a menu for me that was still delicious and fancy. Staying in Uganda for some time, the shower was hot, perfect after a long day of tracking (you just have to alert them 5 minutes in advance so they can prepare the pipes). After tracking, we just hung out in the lodge, reading and having a beer. The hot water bottles provided in the beds were a perfect touch-- Ruhija is cold at night!
The one thing I would alert travelers coming here is that the road from the turn-off on Kisoro Road is terrible. It's bumpy, turns frequently, and there isn't a guardrail. Furthermore, it's a rainforest and so it rains a lot. Good views, but make sure your driver is skilled! We made the mistake of coming into Ruhija after dark and that was not advisable. Similarly, I am glad we stayed the extra night so that we could leave in daylight hours.More
