The 1st meal we both had was excellent, the 2nd meal a week or so later was bad and we had to complain to the manager who told us a different chef was on. He cut the cost from the bill

Found this restaurant to be very short of the reviews we had read. Service was relatively slow and the food of a poor standard. One of our party tried Kingklip, which is generally a juicy, cod like fish. Not so here, very dry and obviously pre-cooked and warmed up. A great disappointment

The Woodsman was a welcome sight at the end of my 45km bicycle ride up the R536 from Hazyview. Christopher, the manager, gave my support team (my partner and 19-month-old son who had followed me in the truck) and I a very friendly welcome, and immediately got out a high chair for the boy and suggested a quick meal for him while we perused the menu. He also was very kind and gave us a coin to operate the kiddies' ride for him!

The facilities, including the separate baby-change room, were very clean. The service (Gift served us) was prompt and extremely friendly too. We were both happy with the food we ordered and would definitely recommend The Woodsman as somewhere to stop a while for food and refreshments if you're in Sabie (and on a warmer day you might see a group of motorcyclists enjoying themselves there too).

If you want to watch a big game (rugby to those who thought it may be one of the Big 5), have a meal or just sip a few cold beers then here is the answer.

Varied menu with good food servered by polite and caring staff. House wines very tasty - plenty of choice if you want a bottle but we had to drive back to our accommodation.

Ample portions and food served on hot plates, always a bonus and we have to say a more common practice in SA than in England.
