“At 18 years old, I STILL loved this holiday!!”
Reviewed August 27, 2013

Me and my mum booked our holiday to Ibiza with Thomsons after my dad and brother decided they wanted to go fishing in France. We got a last minute deal and after booking we were a little unsure about the family aspect of the hotel considering we normally go as a whole family and stay in a villa, in a bit more of a rural area. But we absolutely loved it! We're both quite prudish but still really enjoyed all the entertainment, and the best part was how close the hotel was to the beach! We spent a week at the hotel overall in a Family Suite with a seaview (Violet Block, second floor) and our room was exceptionally quiet. We didn't do any of the daytime activities except the quiz, but you could see how much fun the younger guests were having; it was the perfect distance from San Antonio for us and we spent a few nights there despite how expensive it is! We even got the bus to Ibiza Town for the day which is great if you have older kids or are a couple as there is some great sights and it's amazing for shopping! The food was fine, great variety and always available.
The only fault would be the amount of children around meant that we couldn't really enjoy all the facilities and we felt a bit out of place in the waterpark haha!
All in all we loved our stay, the staff were amazing and we're hoping to be back soon with the whole family!

Room Tip: Violet block, so quiet and a seaview - No crying children during our stay!!

So, depends on what you value on your annual holiday. Bare facts as follows:

This hotel is nowhere near 4 star. Barely 3 star and areas of the hotel more like 2 star. I saw a few of the rooms and they all need a refurb.
It's very clean everywhere as everyone says - even the pool areas get washed every morning
All staff really good
Don't let them try and check you into a rubbish room (there are a lot of these). We weren't allocated the room we had paid for on arrival and had to have a difficult conversation within 20 minutes of getting there to sort it.
Be prepared for someone to get up at 7.30am to 8am every morning to get a sun lounger and allow time to swap all the rubbish broken ones. Seriously, anyone who says you don't need to is deluded & the hotel /tour operator does nothing to deal with the problem. There are nowhere near enough loungers for the number of people staying.
The food is very dull and very repetitive.
The Tepanyaki meal is one of the worst Asian dining experiences I've had.
The pool side is rammed to capacity with sunloungers, of which I would say at least 50 percent are broken, to the point of being really uncomfortable.
The pools are too small for the number of people in the resort.
I hope you're happy with your kids being snapped by by the 'staff photograpers' all day; some of the photos I saw young kids being posed for were, in my view, inappropriate. Each to their own on this one.
The location around the hotel is like a resort that's died.
The waterpark is a good facility; clean, well covered by lifeguards and good fun (but again get up there when it opens if you want a chair!!!!)
The nearby beach is scruffy & don't be fooled by some of the descriptions that say this hotel is beach front. It isn't (unless you're into rocks)
El Gallo Viejo (restaurant at the back of the beach) is really good.
The entertainment, both Thomson and 'professional' was, on the whole, dreadful and by the end of 2 weeks we were camping out in the room, but each to their own.
There is nowhere to go away from the main bar and 'entertainment', unless like us you kick up a fuss when you check in and get a decent sea view room.
The service at the snack bar and drinks bar (the only bar) is excellent - the staff here should be really commended.
Get used to drinking out of plastic cups!!
Our 8 year old absolutely loved the Kids Club and the Thomson staff were brillant with the kids.
Good bus service outside the hotel and water taxi service from the beach.

So, on balance a really mixed holiday. The 8 year old loved it; we hated it. Our holiday was completely saved by some of the people we met whilst we were away (thanks gang from Skipton and Warwick!).

I'm hoping that this experience will mean we learn and that way avoid making the same mistake again.

Got back yesterday and already wish we were back there!! Fantastic resort with a hotel offering everything from kids club, Japanese restaurant , trips, day/evening entertainment etc port des torrent is a little too quiet for me but was nice to be away from the busy San Antonio. Beaches aren't the best but a short boat ride and you ll find a good one !! Thanks Thomson you did it again!!

14 nights all inclusive. About 9 nights too many. Fabulous helpful staff - both Thomsons and Sirenis, but the evening entertainment was just awful. If I ever see Thomson the Dog again I think I will chin him - the nightly "T-Time Live" was just a nightly repetition of the worst kids songs ever. Even our 9 and 6 year old got bored of it after about 3 nights. And if you want to go back to your room for a peaceful evening, forget it. We moved room away from the bar area and evn after moving two blocks away from the entertainment stage and bar you could hear every word of whichever naff singer was slaughtering some ropey ballad.

Kids Club was excellent, but only 2 hours per day and both children never had kids club at the same time. We quite like our kids, but a few hours without them would have been nice each day!

The accommodation is very tired and needs a major refurbishment. The hotel does not have a beach (as we were told) but there is one about 5 minute stroll away - but obviously you have to pay for everything. But, it was worth it to spend some time in the very cool beach bar and to get away from the noise and holiday camp feel of the hotel.

We will not be going back and I am unlikely to trust Thomsons with my holiday again.

Room Tip: Choose a different hotel.

The first inpressions of the hotel are great! You walk up the marble stairs or ramp outside to get to the entrance which has constant workers who check you in and are at your assitance in a matter of minutes, the lobby is always getting cleaned and is spotless! When you walk down the 4 or 5 stairs there is a desk where one of the reps sit, usually davinia, who will deal with any complaints or issues you may have, to the right of this the buffet restaurant is there which offers a wide range of foods appropriate for even the fussiest eaters! If you go left you can follow the rooms round past the chairs you come to the bar straight ahead which has amazing bar staff who cater for everyone in a few minutes, to the side of the bar is the snack bar where you can order chips, burgers, sandwiches, salads, etc. Throughout the day between 10:30 and 6:30 to take out but if you wish to eat in from here just sit down and a waiter will be with you in seconds.
The japanesse restaurant is truly devine, the food is cooked freshly infront of you while the chefs put on a magnificent show, it is a must visit for all guests.
All kids clubs are great and the reps do an outstanding job
The bar offers a small wifi area where you can use the computers at a small charge of 1 euro for 10 minutes along with a few games or if you go to reception you can pay 25 euro for a weeks worth of internet.
The waterpark is such a good thing to have in the hotel and offers 5 'big' slides along with a pirate ship for younger kids which includes slides and other fun things. It is open throughout the week for people from this hotel and its sister hotel 'the seaview club' next door but on a sunday it is open to everyone causing the queues to be slightly longer
The rooms themselves are quite good, there is a lot of storage space in the wardrobes, a television, a safety deposit box, a reasonably sized balcony, and a newly renovated bathroom.
The pools are always kept very clean and has a lifeguard watching over at all times, there are 4 pools altogether; 2 of varying depths and 2 which are the same all the way round. In the biggest pool, the reps sometimes put on a party in the pool and do daily aqua aerobics. Getting a sun lounger if quite easy as there is enough for everyone and the guards will remove towels if you reserve loungers between 8pm and 8am.
The indoor pool and gym are also very good.
I'd like to give a special mention to the reps abbie and natalie because they are the best reps I have ever came across, they're always full of energy and do everything they can for the kids, they even set up 'the crew' for kids aged between 11 and 16 because they understood there was nothing arranged for them because the hotel has kids clubs for younger children. These two reps set this up off of their own backs and isn't even mentioned in the brochures.
The hotel itself is situated 150m from a small beach with a little reggae bar and water games facilities including snorkelling, scuba diving, banana boats, wakeboarding etc. It is a small bus journey away from san antonio and the notorious west end. Watching the sun set from cafe mambo is a must do! Visiting here will be an enjoyable holiday for all ages and is the perfect destination for kids. Thanks for an unforgettable holiday!

Firstly the Thompson reps at this hotel were outstanding. Very helpful, friendly and worked extremely hard. They put on excellent daytime and evening entertainment and could not have been any better.

We stayed at the end of July / beginning of August 2013. The complex was great, good food, excellent staff, plenty of beds and v hot!!

The family suite which we stayed in was I would say only 3 star, not 4. Twin room, good bathroom and small box room in middle with a kitchen behind a cupboard!! and the additional two beds as single settees, so this was disappointing.

A week we found was ample, but again, big thumbs up for the reps, can remember Natalie and Rachel.

We took our teenager who I have to say was very bored, as they are not catered for and this is mainly a young family hotel so that was a shame for him especially.

We stayed at the Club Aura during the first two weeks in june...we are a family of 4 two with boys aged 4 and 15months. I can't recommend this hotel enough. Initially, we were allocated a room right next to the bar, facing the stage/entertainment so asked to change rooms. There was a little resistence at first but after speaking with a supervisor, we were offered a room in the White block away from the hussle&bussle (I would recommend requesting this in advance if you prefer a quiet room). After that, everything was great. The rooms are a good size with plenty of storage, mini kitchen (no kettle) with fridge etc. The only thing I will say is that the fixed shower screen over the bath makes it a bit awkward to bathe a slippery toddler but baby baths can be provided if requested. The maids tended to the rooms almost every day and will change towels as often as you need them, just leave them by the door. The food was very nice with lots of choice, we particurlarly enjoyed the mexican themed evening, delicious! The staff in the restaurant/bar work tirelessly but are always so friendly and attentive, especially with the children. The bar has a good selection of drinks and was always well staffed. The pool is nice but does get very busy and sunbeds do get 'reserved' very early despite this being against hotel policy. The waterpark is by far the biggest selling feature for this hotel; its brilliant. There is a large selection of slides to suit all ages, there are no deep pools - its all very shallow so it feels safe (the lifeguards are excellent) with younger children. There is also a dry playground (shaded by trees) which my 4 year old loved. The park is very clean with plenty of seating/parasols and has a refreshing feeling of space so we tended to go there instead of the pool. There are a few shops across the road (food/snacks and general seaside tat) and the beach is lovely. We spent a few evenings sat at the beach bar with a cocktail, watching the sunset and enjoying the ibiza vibe - most evenings they'll have a fire juggler down there. It made a nice change to the sometimes cheesy entertainment at the hotel. The Thomson reps were good overall and my 4 year old enjoyed the kids club which he went to a handful of times during our stay. Overall, we had a fantastic 2 weeks at the hotel and would definitely consider returning at some point in the future.
