After driving down a very steep hill, you hit Cala d'Hort, a charming small beach with an absolutely amazing view! Tucked on the side is El Carmen, a traditional Spanish restaurant, specializing in local seafood and paella. We came in a large group, so we ordered gazpacho, a salad, and two paellas. The gazpacho was lovely and tasted of garlic, the salad was mixed and well done, and the two paellas! The first was the 'Paella Mixta' which came with crab, chicken, shellfish, shrimp of all kinds and fish. It was so good! Perfectly cooked, with the crispy/burnt bit at the bottom! The seafood was all extremely fresh and succulent. The second we ordered was 'Paella de Langosta', it was fresh local lobster, crabs, shellfish, shrimp and fish. That one was just as good! We ate everything up and even contemplated ordering another paella to eat on the way home! The service was good and friendly, they were very attentive! Please note: the price of the paella is per person, and it does add up, so come with a bit of money, but the paella portions are so big, it's worth it! (if you are tight on cash or can only splurge once, this is definitely the place!)
