“Enjoyable Stay”
Reviewed June 2, 2013

I have just returned from Las Palmaras and previous reviews tell how good these apartments are. This is true - they are clean, pleasant and the general layout is spacious.and not cramped in any way. There is a large, clean swimming pool and never a shortage of sunbeds. The bar staff and management are friendly and helpful and it's very peaceful and quiet. However, I really felt there was something missing - enough for me not to give it an excellent rating. Somehow it lacked heart - perhaps it could have done with someone playing a piano or guitar of an evening in the lounge, just to have some form of entertainment. Also, for those doing self catering a small shop on site may be a good idea as shops aren't that close. I feel a car is essential because when the weather is unsettled, as was the case for our stay, you definitely need something to do and places to see. The island itself is lovely and we visited some beautiful places. We did enjoy our stay overall and I hope I'm not being too unkind with my comments, but just felt something was lacking - as mentioned, the weather wasn't great, so it could have been the sunshine too!

My partner & I have just returned from a 10 day all inclusive trip to the Las Palmeras Apartments and we cannot recommend them highly enough, as has been said in previous reviews the staff are all so helpful and Juan who works in the bar and in the pizzeria grill is an absolute star! Nothing was too much trouble for Paco the manager and Antonio and the rest of the staff were all very helpful.

The only downside to our stay was the weather, which included gales and thunderstorms, but thankfully the Las Palmeras has a lovely lounge area and free wi-fi so on those days when you couldn't go out at least you had a change of scenery.

We stayed in one of the bungalows and would recommend paying the extra for this, they are an excellent size, very clean and have all the facilities you could require.

The pool area was lovely and the pool itself is very large and clean, there are probably enough sun loungers to allow everyone to have one should the apartments be fully booked which is very unusual.

We were on the all inclusive deal (11am - 11pm) which had a good variety of meals served three times a day, crisps and ice cream were also available as snacks between meal times. It's worth noting that the Cava and glasses of Sangria are also included on AI.

The resort is very quiet and peaceful and the apartments are in a fantastic setting and if you like walking you could ask for nothing more, also having the San Luis Hotel and the Los Naranchos bar only 10/15 minutes walk or train ride away was very handy as you could also use the bar (and wi-fi) there on AI.

The bus service though infrequent (approximately every 2 hours) was very efficient and the bus stop is right outside reception.

If I had one suggestion to make it would be that perhaps the maids could make more trips, we were there for 10 days but only had maid service twice, but other than that it was faultless and we will definitely be returning.

Room Tip: Pay a little extra and have one of the bungalows - we were in no. 33 and if you were on your terrace...

It was first proper holiday for our 18 month old daughter so we checked carefully the reviews of different places before we decided to book our stay at Las Palmeras. I can already say it was the best decision we could have made! We stayed there for a week mid-May and although the weather wasn't great plus our little one got poorly the day before we arrived, it was still a very enjoyable stay. As many people stated before, the Las Palmeras apartments are very clean, spacious and are located in a very picturesque and peaceful surroundings. Room had well equipped kitchen (we were on all inclusive so didn't have to use it really), big balcony, TV with few English, Spanish, Italian and German channels, etc. Outside space is massive as well but well thought out so our little daughter was able to run around and we didn't have to worry about loosing her out of our sight because we could see her from wherever we were sitting.
As to the food this was absolutely gorgeous! There were many dishes to choose from so everyone could find something for themselves and most importantly, the food was a true reflection of the local culture and cuisine.
Finally, staff at Las Palmeras is second to none. Nothing was too much to ask for! When we urgently needed batteries for the thermometer (our daughter had high fever for few days), the Manager sent one of the staff members to town and we had the batteries within minutes (plus they did not want to take any money from us when we wanted to pay). There is much more that can be said about this place (positive things that is) so I give this place 5 out of 5.

A friend and I spent a long weekend here in May. We were really impressed with the accommodation - we were on an all inclusive package but had a large apartment with a balcony overlooking the sea. The room and hotel were very clean and well looked after. The resort itself is very small but it's quite a pleasant walk down to the other hotels along the sea road. On the all inclusive package you also get drinks included at the San Luis hotel about 10 mins walk which is nice for a change of scenery.
The food at Las Palmeras was good although I think if we'd stayed any longer we would have been bored as the buffet was quite similar each evening.
We went out of season and it was quiet. This suited us but those looking for nightlife and more bars and restaurants would be better off going to one of the larger resorts.
Overall we had a really lovely stay and it was excellent value for money.

We have just returned from a two week trip to Las Palmeras Apartments in S'Algar.
Whilst there my father was not well and this resulted in him having a trip to hospital and also forced him to have to have the use of a wheelchair for several days.
The help I recieved from Paco the manager was above and beyond the call of duty.
He rang to arrange for a wheelchair to be delivered and also arranged for my father to have his meals in the apartment on the occasions he did not feel up to a trip to the restaurant.
The bar manager Juan was also very helpful and went about his work in a pleasant and jovial manner, even though he was under the constant bombardment of ice cream and drinks demands of some very challenging children!!
Antonio and the kitchen staff also deserve praise for the way they coped with the demands that meal times brought upon them. They served drinks and cleared away used crockery with no fuss and always had time for a quick chat or comment to make you feel welcome.
Our apartment was clean and tidy and the kitchen facilities were more than adequate should you be going self catering.
I would say that the all inclusive package was great value. The choices would not be perfect for everyone but we always found something from the menu to suit our requirements.
All in all a great complex in a truly stunning location.
Thanks again Paco and staff for all your help and thanks for putting up with my not so perfect Spanish!!

we have just returned home from two weeks here,it is spotlessly clean, very friendly manager paco, juan the barman is a great character and antonio is also great, the only downside for me was the maid service wasnt up to much and they left my room pretty much untouched on most occasions, the all inclusive is very good and there is a great choice of food so hats off to the chef, also the pizzeria and grill is worth a try as the food is great and you save 25% off the price of the meals,it is a very friendly resort and mostly english guests,we met some great people and had a good laugh, there is a couple of local supermarkets ect and a few places to eat out, great views over the rocks and sea,i would recomend everyone try this place for a stay, there is a bus stop right outside hotel to san louis and mahon and you can get connecting buses from mahon to other parts of the island,we had a great holiday and would return again, many thanks one and all

Room Tip: very quite all round the hotel but you can upgrade to pool view rooms from 84 euros per week
