Small resto with fairly limited menu. Average food prices. Cheap for wine which was OK. Run by an older couple. Friendly and functional. I would certainly eat there again.

My wife and I are currently living in Rome for employment for a few years. We took the metro/train from Rome to Ostia Antica and after spending a few hours looking at the Ruins we wandered to the small town near the castle and dropped in to this restaurant looking for lunch at about 2:50PM on a Saturday. When you first walk in it appears that it is only a bar serving drinks and coffee but keep walking back and down the steps to their restaurant. Very cozy and medieval with lots of stone. We split an order of Bruschetta consisting of 2 pieces of toasted homemade bread with olive oil and fresh cut tomatoes and basil topping then we ordered one order of Pasta Amatriciana which is a red tomato sauce with bacon/pork and we ordered a plate of fresh grilled calamari that came with fresh greens in a vinagrette dressing. We reassembled our plates so we could split/share both entrees. The food was fresh, well presented and tasted excellent. We washed it down with a half liter of their house red wine and a liter bottle of mineral water. Total tab was 30 Euros or approx $39.00 U.S. All in all a great small restaurant that we will return to often.

Following a wonderful Mediterranean cruise, we spent our last night in the medieval town of Ostia Antica. This small but well preserved site consists of a castle, small church and a few ancient houses. The ruins of the old port of Rome are within walking distance and Rome is only a metro ride away. Besides an overnight visit to history, the airport is a short ride in the morning. Although we knew that Italian dinner time is later than our custom, we went in search of food at 6:00PM. The Piazza Ravenna welcomed us with open arms. The service was warm and friendly. The food was delicious with homemade antipasti, pasta and desserts. This comfort food is served with regional wines and homemade grappa. The locale preserves and enhances the medieval charm of the town. Visit medieval Rome, stay overnight in the old town, and head for the tasty treat of Piazza Ravenna.
