“NO MORE!”
Reviewed March 3, 2012

Vilanova Park Camping is the "place to be" during the low season and during the week.
On feast-days the peaceful camping enWE transformed into a chaos. Young people and Spanish families put a lot of noise late into the night. The disco playing until midnight.
The quiet moments are the exception for work in / out (timber company) the camp, barking dogs and night patrols. Wifi system is not free, but for years Not suitable: pure theft!
The workforce decreased with age. What is striking is that many Romanian (non-qualified) employees are employed in various activities.
The indoor pool is unattended and fitness room too small.
Suggestions and complaints will be ignored!

Room Tip: Find a sunny place.

We stayed in our own folding camper in Aug 2011. The site was very large compared to what we are normally used to. Unfortunately we didn't feel able to let our two children (age 10 & 8) go off exploring and making friends on their own due to the size of the site. There were no play areas near our pitch.
We were quiet close to the evening entertainment and had to listen to that every evening. Very busy up by the bar area with few seats. We did enjoy the Michael Jackson act very much. The kiddies disco played the same songs every night. urgh.
The toilet blocks were kept fairly clean. There were constantly ladies stood around with cleaning trollies chatting to eachother
We occasionally got food from the site shop, which did sell nice bread. We had our own car and were able to visit the local town and supermarket. The campsite was too far to walk anywhere. The swimming pools were nice.
The local beaches were nice. Free parking, golden sand, safe seas. We caught the bus one day into Barcelona, but it was a long trip going a very convoluted trip and quiet expensive. Spent a very nice day at Barcelona Zoo which is well worth a visit.
All in all we had an enjoyable stay here, but were ready to go on to somewhere a bit quieter and smaller.

This was our third visit to Vilanova Park, the previous times were during the summer and it was lovely to visit during the Winter (26th Dec for a week). It was mostly 18c during the day, bright and sunny but a jacket/fleece needed for the evening. It was a pleasure to visit Barcelona without the hot summer sun and be able to enjoy the sights (as with many large cities, please be VERY aware of pick pockets). On the site itself, we enjoyed the indoor pool - swim cap required - also the sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. The spa treatments weren't on during the time we were there but that was fine with us. Just a tip re the wi-fi, it's free if you visit the fast food restaurant with the big 'M' in Vilanova town. The campsite was clean and our mobile was immaculate, yet again, thanks to Dave & Karen, the reps with Lifestyle Holidays (thank you). We have never heard dogs barking, as has been commented in previous posts, but it is a large site and the position of the accommodation would obviously have an impact if it were beside kennels. We didn't visit the restaurant this time and I assume there was no entertainment it was a holiday to go and spend time with family and relax.

We visited this site in October 2011 and loved it. We stayed in basic Keycamp accommodation and we were happy with what we got for the very little price that we paid.

We used the outdoor pool which isn't heated and was a little bit cool in October so we decided that we would use the indoor pool - you will need to use swimming caps in the indoor pool - thankfully we realised this before we arrived and took some with us otherwise they cost 4€ on site. The pools areas are beautifully kept and clean. Should you wish to have a spa treatment, this is available at an extra price.

There is a launderette on site which is 5€ a wash, a bit steep I thought, but we were desperate as we were there for 2 weeks with 2 small children.

There is a bar, restaurant, internet room, shop and supermarket. The supermarket is reasonably priced. We didn't use the bar or restaurant as we were happy staying at our accommodation in the evenings with the children being so young and we did a lot of barbequing as there was a gas barbeque provided at the accommodation.

The children's play area was great for our children although we did have a problem with some older children who were Spanish and didn't understand our children and started to pick on them and push them around but we were there to help out!!

There is a bus stop right outside the park that goes right to Barcelona and it takes 1 hour 30 minutes and takes about 45 minutes to drive in and then about another 3 hours to find a parking space. We never took the bus however and prefered to drive. The bus also takes you to the local town. The town is not within walking distance and hiring a car is preferable if you want to see the area. It is worth getting a car so that you are able to do a supermarket shop from the local town. Having said that, the supermarket on site is well stocked and compared to the town supermarkets the price difference is only 20 - 30 centimos more per item.

We loved the area and managed to fit in Barcelona (twice), Monserrat, Sitges, Taragona, Torres Vineyard, Codornui Cava Vineyard.

Vilanova Park was just a base for us, we didn't intend on spending much time there but if you do intend on holidaying there, it's a lovely place. We were aware that we were visitng the holiday park out of season and so realised before we went that there would be no or little entertainment for the children, but they were happy making friends of their own and playing outside in the warm evenings.

There are barking dogs through the night though and hundreds of ferral cats, but apart from that, a great time was had by all and we would return.

I have just returned from the worst holiday of my life. Upon entering the park i thought it looked lovely but it was all down hill from there. I was met by a woman ( I say that term loosely) called Carol Welsh who was flustered to begin with, she demanded £50 cash for a cleaning deposit. As i was in the holiday spirit i was taken a back but paid it. she then preceded to tell me that i would be provided with cleaning materials and would have to clean the whole caravan before i get my deposit back. I was also informed that if i used the blankets provided i would also loose my deposit. we were then left with no information about this ridiculously big site. to say i felt stranded was a understatement. the whole site was over run with Spanish. the children were so rude, they would not move out of the way to let you down steps. there was no entertainment for the kids at all in the nights so they were roaming round the site in gangs. the restaurant was a absolute disgrace. I ordered one meal and sent it back. its meant to be a family site and they don't even have a kids menu. the onsite supermarket was overpriced. The staff were rude and lazy. In the end I could not take it anymore and booked myself into a hotel. When i phoned the rep CAROL to tell her i was checking out early and wanted my deposit back she turned up at my caravan DRUNK with her husband. This only ended in a heated exchange in words and carol screeching off uncontrollably in her car highly intoxicated. Again please remember this is a meant to be a family site and the rep is drink driving around like a mad woman. I was then visited by a " superior member of staff" who gave me a complaint form and tried to mediate the situation. There are dogs barking all night. My daughter was attacked by a dog and I stepped in dog excrement twice. It truly was that bad it was laughable. Please please please save yourself the disappointment and do not visit this site.

Room Tip: none. You could not pay me to stay again!!!!

Having been here several times before - see previous reviews, we were really excited to come back after 7 years. The park is still, undoubtedly a nice park very clean, functional and a good bet for seeing more of the costs dorada than just Barcelona. However there is no doubt it has lost some of its magic that led to me giving previous 5 star reviews. Whilst it is out of season now one of the saddest things was the restaraunt, on past visits it was a special treat to go there and sit eating a nice meal with a jug of sangria bursting with fruit - now its a glass of sangria with a thin slice of lemon and a meal consisting of fries, salt and a lot of grease visible on the plate - such a shame! Anyway if you are happy to self cater and want to explore using great public transport links and aren't too fussed about that special sparkle then this now functional park is for you, however if like me you want that sparkle look elsewhere ...
