Our first time here it won't be the last...just a great family holiday with so much to offer.

Arrival was dealt with very quickly; I had followed others who have reviewed on here and emailed the hotel to ask for a room on level 5 so we could appreciate the sea view we had booked through Thomas Cook. This paid off as we had rooms 533 and 534, perfect centre view over the port and sea. We received our room cards, no bangle here, and paid a deposit on the towels and picked our safe key up.

Food: Everyone I spoke to said the food was amazing and such choices. Whether its the splendid Breakfast and Dinner served in the main restuarant or the slightly lighter lunch served down near the pool bar area, it was all really good both in quality and quantity, I think my three boys (12,13 and 15) where more than impressed... now get used to toast and something a lot lighter!!

Rooms: I can only comment on ours and they were very good, if the shower had a bit more power and a light within the bath/shower area I would say brilliant. The views were excellent, no noise, great bed and we slept like logs (alcohol may have helped!)

Pools: There are 4, the main one, which is where all the fuss about the sun beds comes from and then one below that which is surrounded by grass, which personally I don't like as when the earth below that gets wet you end up with dirt on your feet and it inevitably gets to the edge of the pool no matter if you have showered first as the kids won't! Then you have the salt water pool which has lanes for those who want to keep active and a toddler pool next to that as well.

Sunbeds: I will cover this here as its linked to the pools, firstly the sunbeds are comfortable but if you want one by the main pool maybe because you have young children who you need to keep an eye on while you sunbathe then yes you will have to be up at about 6.30 to guarantee one or six!
Personally I couldnt think of anything worse than having one there, so I let those who decided to come out at night or very early and reserve a row. I got up at my normal time around 7.30 and trotted down to find a quieter alcove away from the main pool and I didn't have a problem even when some days I wasnt down until 8.30. So it comes down to where you want to be, if grass is your thing you won't have a problem down in the lower pool as they never get taken until about 10 am.

Entertainment: Lots of it, so be aware if you are around the main pool there are games going on with the kids and about 3 times a week the inflatables come out and the main pool beomes very active. In the evening there is something on every night other than Mondays, that the day off for the animation team.

Spa: You will get a free session, use it, ths is a brilliant place. We not only used our free session but paid the 6 or 7 euros to have a nother session. The Spa has a steam room, sauna, plunge pool, music water room and lots of pool areas with relaxing bubble massage systems.

We booked with Thomas Cook and the rep got everything right, she kept the welcome to about 20 minutes and left us with the information to come back anytime when she was there to book the trips. We did the Yellow Submarine and Glass bottom Boat, both were good and for something different the Submarine is a must.

Staff: All the staff were brilliant, the service in the restuarants is fast and efficient. The cooks are brilliant flipping between so many meals cooking in different pans. The waiters are brilliant too despite the fact that few people gave them tips. Tips are not expected but they are appreciated and I believe they are pooled and divided up later amoungst them all as some of the staff just spend their night mixing and pouring drinks which the waiters then distribute.

All Inclusive: I probably should have said at the start we were on a Thomas Cook all inclusive and with this you get a card on arrival which has to be presented on all occasions of ordering whether it food or drinks. On departure you have to vacate your room by mid day but your card keeps working until 6.00 pm so you can drink and eat until then. As your flight was not until 9.20 pm we paid 20 euros for a complemintary room which was really useful.

In summary I cannot imagine anyone would be disappointed with this hotel. Remember though if you havent paid for a sea view dont expect to get one and at the peak seasons you might not get the place you want around the pools but you will find a sunbed. Dont let sunbed moaners put you off its a great place with excellent food.

Room Tip: High rooms for sea view so 5xx but only if you have paid for a sea view and not a garden view.

This was our first foreign trip with our daughter, and our first resort holiday ever.

The plan was: Find a nice quiet resort with good food and run our daughter around all day until she falls asleep, then drink wine. Costa Calero is the the place to do this!

The location is at a small village built around a marina, developed in the 80s and 90s I believe. It's pretty, sleepy, and doesn't have much going on other than a small strip of nice cafes and restaurants at the front, and one overpriced mini-mart. But this worked in its favor having visited Puerto Del Carmen just up the road (busy, a bit tacky). No beach here, but nice cliff walks and it's a very short trip in to Carmen if you want the big beach and more shops.

The hotel itself was vary nice. Clean, smart, friendly staff. Didn't feel at all busy (we were there in the spring though, so not peak season). Rarely had a problem finding a space at the pools or a sun lounger at any time of day.

Food was excellent. Ok, the lunch buffet got a little bit samey after a week. Dinner had more variety and always something nice to choose from. And plenty of options for our 1YO. The advantage of the all-inclusive buffets being that you can try her on several things until she's happy! For the adults, good selection of drinks and the all-inclusive wine was good too. Never felt a need to 'upgrade' to the supplements.

Costa Calero definitely isn't a party resort. Mainly young families and seniors. But for what we needed, that's great. Our 1YO never felt like a burden, or disturbing anyone, and got a lot of attention from the nans!

I can see Costa Calero being a regular destination for us in future.

Room Tip: If you're looking for a room with space to put a travel cot away from your lounge and bed, the suites work well. There's a door between the lounge and bathroom/bed area. In our room there was a large dressing area separated by a wall between the bed and bathroom which made a good location for the cot, but you can also have it in the bed area too. Lots of options.

Dear guest,

´Thank you for this nice and kind review! We are honoured to have hosted the very first foreign vacation of your young daughter. And what delights us even more is that she has scored us so high! If we fulfilled her requirements, then we have done our job well!

As you have seen, we cater for all ages and tastes and always do our best to please our visitors. The only thing we would like to add is that Costa Calero can be a fun and party place too, depending on needs and preferences, it is not only limited to families or seniors.

We are overwhelmed with joy that our hotel will be a regular destination for you in the future! We are looking forward to your next visit!

Sunny greetings from Lanzarote to Bath!

We read all previous reviews having had the hotel booked for a fragmented family holiday across 3 weeks and prior to arriving kind of knew what to expect !!!

There are so many positives that they far outweigh a couple of negatives.

The main negative was the nightly/early morning panzer movement required to secure a sun bed in the prime location next to the poolside restaurant.....a few yards to then walk for the numerous goodies to eat and drink.

However if you failed miserably you could still find some a little further away near the salt water pool and sand area.

Other negative, do not go in August if you want peace and quiet, it is a family hotel and lots of kids, with loads of energy.

The staff were always friendly and attentive, nothing to much trouble. Food excellent and varied as per other reviews, with options for all tastes.

if you go all inclusive do not miss out on the spa.....it is excellent and rarely gets too busy with lovely area for chilling with sun beds available. The ice cold plunge pool is a must if you over indulged the night before on the branded beers/spirits.

On the day we left rooms have to be vacated by 12 oclock, our flight was not until 7pm so a bit worried about hanging around, no food and drink. Not a bit of it, cases kept in secure area and a card retained for each of us, valid up until 6pm, happy days.

If you are getting a taxi from airport on arrival its no problem and you need to set aside about 23 Euros. Coming back, hotel order taxi and it cost us 20 Euros, seemed a bit quicker (20 mins)

All in all we all had a fantastic time from aunty to a couple of 17 year old's (9 people in total) and would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel, even with the evening/morning hunting. I am 57 and it was a kind of if you can't beat em type scenario. If you go you will not be disappointed.

Room Tip: We had room 311 great view of mountains, pool area and sea to the right. Air Con most efficient on setting 3

Dear guest,

Thank you very much for you nice and kind review. We are very happy to have succeeded in providing a pleasant vacation for all the members of your family, despite of the age difference.

The sun beds are laid out all over the hotel grounds around the pools, divided in sections, some of them smaller and more secluded. The sunbathing areas include grassy terrain, artificial sandy beach and of course the main sector next to the beach bar and restaurant. We can assure you that there are more than enough sun beds for everybody, and just a small hint: the best spots aren’t necessarily around the main pool, on the contrary of the common opinion.

We hope that you will visit us again soon! We are looking forward to it!

Stayed from the 1st-15th August/ travelled has a couple. Reception spoke very good English, were polite and very informative. Allocated a ground floor room looking onto the pool. This was very spacious, beds a little hard but comfortable. Daily maid service, fresh room towels and water left if required. Air con can be left on with one of the cards provided by reception, the another is used for the all inclusive( no bands).Pool towels are provided with a 10 euro deposit( refundable)you can change these at the hotel shop.Money exchange available at reception( we only took english money which was easy to exchange).
Activities and entertainment-- 4 smashing pools, one salt water, one themed like a beach. The main activity pool is by the lunch time dining area. In this pool the animation team play music, water polo, inflatables for the kids and adults and water acrobatics.
Drinks -- were the best we have ever had on all inclusive!!!There is a vast selection of branded drinks , such as Jack D, Baileys etc and the old favourite cocktails but these are slushed!! YUM! In the evening you can have a bottle of wine on the table or to go up the room(again it is good). Drinks are brought by waiter service to the table. Beer, sangria and wine are self serve at lunch time at the pool side restaurant.
Eating-- snacks are available from 12- 6 by the pool bar/ toasted sandwiches/ sandwiches/ cakes/ ice-cream and salted nuts.
Breakfast-- smoothies, full english but not english sausage.Omelettes made on request. Plus all the continental range .
Lunch time meals are also available here the usual chips, burgers , pizza, meats, bread and salads etc.
Evening meals are in the main restaurant ( men have to wear long trousers or smart cargo shorts down to the knee). This seems to be unfair when women wear shorts revealing all their backsides!!!!
Here there are a variety of salads, mussels, smoked salmon, sushi cold meats and two soups to start. For main there are 2 or more different meats and fish together with vegetables, chips etc.( Has always food does get a little repetitive). In addition there is a huge range of desserts to select from including ice-creams.
Entertainment--- 0pen 6- 12In the piano bar there is usually someone playing a musical instrument. ( this is nice and chilled with comfy chairs to relax in.( the only downside is it is rather warm up there).
Showbar. - 9- 1pm mini disco and prizes last until 10. Then the show lasts for an hour. WE seen two which were pretty good .
The only downside to this hotel is the sunbed situation. We were coming from the bar at 1.30 in the morning and people were putting towels down then. If you got up after 7am to get one you'll be lucky to find one!!!

Anyway this would not deter us from rebooking, because apart from that it was fantastic!!! Very friendly, clean hotel and in a good location. A short walk down a steep hill and there is a lovely Marina with a selection of bars and restaurants. Market on a Tuesday and Friday.

Dear guest,

Thank you for the lovely review, it is a very nice description of your stay here, besides the slightly terrifying title. We are hoping that it won’t put off the other Tripadvisor users and they will read it through carefully.

We are very glad to know that you have liked your vacations here so much and that you would not hesitate to come again.

Regarding the sunbeds, their number is sufficient for all our guests and they are divided in sections throughout the property around the four pools. Of course, most people prefer to sit near the lunch restaurant, but may we suggest that these are not necessarily the best spots and the small sandy beach and the grass area also deserve a try.

Once again, we highly appreciate that you have taken your time to leave your opinion here and we are looking forward to your next visit!

Sunny greetings from Lanzarote!

Just got back from a 7 night stay with my husband and 15 yr old daughter, this hotel lives up to all the hype, couldn't fault it in anyway!! beautiful location the marina at bottom of hill is lovely to walk to in the evening, the hotel gardens are lovely and the layout of the hotel is great, I loved the beach area and the four pools are lovely. the hotel is very clean all the staff are so friendly and work hard, the food was great and the omelettes for breakfast were my favourites!! the toasties at lunchtime were great too, I really enjoyed the food and it was the best all inclusive we have been to for choice and quality of the food. I particularly liked that you could have peanuts with your drinks that was nice touch. the bedroom was great with loads of space for three of us and lots of hangers in the wardrobe and bathroom was plenty big enough. the entertainment was really good unlike other all in we have been to and particularly enjoyed the guitar legends and the lion king. the animation team worked so hard and were so friendly. the piano bar was lovely to sit out in the evening and enjoy the view! I wouldn't hesitate to book this hotel it really is a fantastic hotel. oh the spa is amazing too !! it is truly deserving of all the awards it has won, keep up the high standards Costa Calero!! ,
