Frieldly staff, excellent food and facilities. For my husband birthday, the staff left a bottle, a card and a cake in the room! The all inclusive choice was the best as our nephew was attending the on site diving centre so we did not need to go out to search for restaurants. The archery and carabine rifle kept him also busy.
Overall, I can only but recommend it!

We returned on Sunday 15th September after a 2 week stay.
We paid almost £2,000 (not including flights) and was very much looking forward to two weeks relaxing at a "5* hotel"
The only thing 5* about this hotel was the staff - all very friendly and very helpful, a special mention to Elle at the piano bar!
The food was nice, although I didnt like the 3 cats roaming around the chairs whilst eating at the outside part of the restaurant and chose to eat inside because of this (They also roam around the sunbeds at the pool area)
Our room (which we paid an extra 140 euros upgrade for a sea-view) was very tired and the furniture chipped, the bed linen was very poor and the towels were flat, hard and frayed!
The most annoying part of our 2 week stay unlike what the hotel states that guests cannot secure sun beds until 9am - WRONG! ! I watched people in the pool floodlights from our balcony running 'round from as early as 0630 every day placing towels on beds and saw a lot of those beds somtimes empty until 2pm in the afternoon!
There wasnt enough sunbeds and 90% of these were in very poor condition, sagging and torn and it was very sad to see people coming down and "settling" for broken beds that were empty.
The hotel had even brought out even older blue plastic sagging sunbeds and placed 'round the various pools!
On our last night just before midnight someone actually came into our room obviously woke us both up, my husband got out of bed and went to the corridor and was told by a member of staff who was with some late check-in guests "they had the wrong room"!
No apology was offered when we checked out the following morning about that incident or when the housekeeper came into our room (539) a few days earlier without knocking to clean the floor (which had been dirty for two days) whilst I was naked on the bed after just getting out of the shower!
(I have pictures of the room/furniture/linen and the terrible condition of the sunbeds/pool area)

Just got back from this lovely hotel and I'm already planning my next trip back. Me and my sister stayed for a week and couldn't fault anything major. Most of the staff were friendly and efficient especially the young waitress in the piano bar she was an absolute joy and did everything professionally and always had a smile. The food was always fresh and varied so I can't understand why people find fault, they must go the Ritz , the Savoy or the Dorchester for all there other holidays, and the all inclusive drinks I was amazed to find all branded spirits and proper mixers in bottles Eg , coke, tonic etc. Cava and good wine also available all through the day. We met lots of lovely different people there who made our holiday all the more enjoyable Elaine and Gary especially but everyone else was fantastic. Only downside was travelling with Ryanair NEVER AGAIN. Could go on forever praising this hotel but would recommend you go and see for yourself.

Room Tip: Choose a higher floor for a better view.

Just returned from a weeks stay on a bed and breakfast basis. Firstly we had no problems whatsoever checking in, be aware there is a lot of paperwork to go through prior to getting your room key. We were given a room on the 4th floor with a sea view. Pleasantly surprised at standard of the room. The beds were a bit hard but comfortable enough, the air conditioning was quiet and effective. The bathroom was a little bit dated but spotlessly clean. We had a room which had two sinks which is a bonus and also had toiletries which were of good quality. The towels (which were brilliant white and very thick) were changed daily and the sheets changed every three days. Rooms were also cleaned and mopped daily. The only gripes with the room was there was dust underneath the dressing table in the room which looked like it had been there for a while and also we were given a room which had an adjoining door to the next room, which I assume is normally allocated to families? It wasn't very sound proof and we could hear most of the conversations going on. There was a lot of storage space for your clothes and suitcases and enough hangers in the wardrobes. Also the safe in the room was free and we felt confident enough to leave our valuables in there, we have never used safes abroad before as we have never felt they were secure enough.

The gardens and pool areas were very well maintained and I agree with some reviewers that having those areas swept more regularly to get rid of the leaves etc would make it an even nicer environment. We only used the bottom pool area and on occasion there was a horrible smell coming from the drains. There is an issue with flies due to this. We never had any problems getting served for drinks at the pool bar, all the staff were friendly and happy to help. There is an issue with the sunloungers and as we had a good view of the main pool area we could see people putting towels on the loungers from 7am if not earlier. We never used the main pool as we preferred the lower pool. I agree with some reviewers that for a 5* hotel the sunbeds are tired and dated and there are far too many that are ripped and this is something that can be easily resolved by just buying better quality beds. We never used the gym/spa as we felt the prices were a little dear and we were not aware of the special offers available.

The walk down to Puerto Calero is only 10 mins and is on a wide paved pathway, the only problem is that it isn't very well lit. The marina is lovely and there are some lovely restaurants which are good value for money.

We cannot give an opinion on the evening entertainment at the hotel as we didn't stay for it but as far as we could see it had enough variety for just sitting back in nice surroundings and just to chill out and have a quiet drink in the evening.

For breakfast in both restaurants, we have no complaints at all as the staff were attentive and friendly. The food was excellent, especially the cakes! Very wide variety of foods to cater for all tastes and all freshly made in front of you.

The location of the hotel is right on the waterfront and there are some terrific views of the mountains. You can walk down to the water but beware the rocks are very slippy. You can book an excursion to the volcano through the hotel and it is well worth the money, we did the half day trip that cost 20 euros and it was very informative. The staff in the hotel are very friendly and English is widely spoken and they will do anything for you, we had a leak in our bathroom and within an hour it was fixed. Also we forgot the code we had put into the safe and we had to call someone out to unlock it and that was also within the hour. Staff also said hello and smiled when you saw them. On the day of our departure we were given a courtesy room free of charge for half an hour to change and shower before we were picked up to go to the airport, a very nice touch and much appreciated.

The hotel public areas, reception, bar, lounge and entrance are kept spotlessly clean and we would definitely stay here again but maybe on an All Inclusive basis as the drinks and snacks can be expensive. We had a wonderful stay and really didn't want to come home.

Thanks to all at the Hesperia for a lovely relaxing holiday! We will be back!

Room Tip: Try and get a higher floor as you will get a nice view of the sea.

I have made many contributions re hotels all over the world and I credit myself with telling what I think is good and what is bad honestly.

I have visited the Costa Calero hotel which is in the same resort as the Hesperia 10 times and have given it excellent reviews.

Seeing that Hesperia was now doing all inclusive we decided to give it a try, but on booking we then were worried as the reviews were not at all good. At one point we thought about changing to the Costa Calero but some recent reviews were good and even the Costa Calero has had bad reviews so we went with an open mind, 3 couples for 10 days.

Arrival was smooth and very pleasant with a welcoming drink and a really helpful lad who delivered our luggage.

The sea view room on the 5th floor was nice and well appointed. The Air Con was good and very quiet. Bathroom is good and lots of toiletries replenished daily. Certainly no threadbare towels.

Food was really good with lots of choice and always fresh. Yes there is a lot of pork and sausages but there is also lots of other things like fish, salad and chicken.

Lots of the dishes are cooked in front of you and the wine is very good.

The bars are well stocked and most of the staff are great. Yes you have to sign for drinks but never a problem. In many of the bars if you sit down a member of staff will come over and take your order.

We always find that a few tips to staff early in your stay ensures good service throughout the holiday. !!!!!

Entertainment at night is fine with some good and some ok

The pools are very nice and the water is cold but very refreshing. Beds were a bit of a problem which could be easily remedied if the hotel brought in some more as there is plenty space. The old blue ones spoil the pool, area and need replaced.

This is a great hotel and I would recommend it for a relaxing holiday.

Yes there are things that could be better but is it value for money yes it is

Room Tip: Get a sea view as high as possible

My girlfriend and I spent our first holiday together here in the Hesperia Lanzarote on the week commencing 29th August 2013. Check-in was swift and the reception staff explained everything we needed to know superbly.

THE ROOM
We stayed in a standard double room, this consisted of two reasonably sized single beds pushed together. We were on the ground floor and only a very short walk from the pool and the main restaurant. The facilities in the room were suitable, however, the sinks are placed inside the room, and the toilet, bath/shower in an en suite which was separated by a fogged glass sliding door. The hairdryer was powerful! There was also big flat screen tv, although this didn't have many English channels other than the news.

THE FOOD
The main restaurant, 'The Botavara', served a buffet style breakfast, lunch and dinner option. Each night had a different themed menu, e.g. Mexican, so there was plenty of choice for everyone!
There were also 3 other restaurant options which were available once per stay on certain days. The BBQ night, we unfortunately weren't able to attend as you could only go on a Friday and arrived too late to book.
We went to 'La Caleta' the Saturday night, and it is definitely worth paying the extra 15euros. The service and meals were sublime, it was a wonderful evening with amazing scenery, and company. I had the steak, and would definitely recommend as it was absolutely perfect!
'El Risco', was the third restaurant which was included in the all inclusive, once again, we could not fault the staff or Italian themed food.
There was a menu which showed you which drinks were all inclusive, and this contained a great selection, however you must be aware as some drinks / snacks do cost!

THE FACILITIES
The hotel has 4 pools of various sizes and shapes. The top pool was on the main floor of the hotel and was located directly next to the pool bar. This was the pool we spent the majority of our time by, as it was only yards from our room. While the water was not the warmest, it was very refreshing after lounging in the sun and hilarious to see people's faces as they enter the pool!
There were 3 other pools: a kiddies pool; an island pool, that was good for dipping your feet in; and the bottom pool by the Drago Bar, which was similar to the top pool except that it had a poolside bar.
There was also a private black stone beach attached to the hotel, which was quiet, secluded and very relaxing.
Additional facilities included a spa, gym, several pool tables and a games room.

THE ENTERTAINMENT
During our stay the entertainment rep was Alicia, she was fantastic and really helped us overcome the language barrier during several of the activities as the majority of the other people were Spanish. The variety of activities were great, we did everything from archery, rifle-shooting and volleyball to aquagym, pilates and Zumba! Additionally, the reps were never in your face, trying to get you to participate. However, the evening entertainment wasn't as good, so we usually ended up getting a drink after dinner, playing pool or went into the local town.

OVERALL
An amazing and very memorable first holiday, we would definitely return and recommend this hotel to any young family or couple. It was very relaxing and enjoyable, with something for everyone.
Also when reading through other peoples reviews, we noticed that a lot of the complaints are easily avoidable, for example, one stated they were charged for food despite being all inclusive, yet this could have been avoided by simply reading the receipts you sign after each transaction, checking the menu, or asking the friendly bar staff.

We just stayed here for a weeks holiday and went all inclusive. The rooms are fairly nice, and spacious, the shower was poor without any real pressure. the food was hit and miss, some nights it was quite nice and other nights much of the food had gone cold. The italian restuarant that you can only visit once, is not worth visitng at all, the menu is very basic, and the quality is poor. The service is also hit and miss, a few of the staff are very friendly and helpful, where as there are a few who were miserable and and not very interactive at all. personally i would never visit this hotel again and regret booking there, i was expecting 5 star facilites and 5 star service unfortuantly this Hotel was far from delivering either. everything from checking in and to getting a coffee, or going into breakfast resulted in standing in a long and slow moving queue.
