We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Casanita in Es Pujols. We went with the specific intent of having flavorful pasta dishes, and our expectations were absolutely exceeded. We started by sharing a plate of grilled local prawns. Perfectly cooked, fresh and tasty. Our pastas were the "Strozzapreti casarechi" and "Pacherri Mancini" with fish sauce. Simply wow. Dessert was a wonderfully light tiramisu topped with crunchy bits. We ended with an after dinner digestive of homemade meloncello. A perfect evening! Reservations are a must.

We lucked out and were able to find a reservation last minute and we were so glad we did as the food and service were amazing. The special for the evening was a price fixe menu but the waiter suggested the grouper to share and it was amazing. I would, highly recommend going here if you can get a reservation.

This really is a very nice restaurant - and very popular - we had to book after a first abortive visit. This is a class act. Meticulously pleasant and helpful staff (not some thing to be taken for granted in Formentera) who made us feel welcome as soon as our feet crossed the threshold. We had a vegetarian in our party and they were able to produce a veggie pasta off menu for her. For starters, we had exquisitely fresh grilled veg (including tiny, teeny, tasty baby carrots, asparagus, aubergine, courgette and onion) all in a delicate broccoli sauce - fab. And 'baby squids' fried in a very delicate, light batter. For the main course I had scallops and local veg- very, good large scallops. My daughter's steak was nice but a bit TOO medium even for her. Son's homemade pasta barely hit the sides and my husband's sea bass got an enthusiastic thumbs up. We drank a local rose - E30 - light and tasty and ideal accompiant to fish. We had two chocolate bombs with hot chocolate sauce for the chocolate lovers and I had a gently frozen yoghurt confection with forest fruits with carmelised pine nuts which was inventive and delicious. It was a pricy evening - E230 for the five of us with only two starters and three puddings in addition to the main course - but this was a cut above the local repast and the (unusual) unanimous family agreement was that it was excellent value!

My only criticism was that our window-side table was next to the smokers' seat immediately outside the restaurant & we had to shut the window to stop the smoke coming in which made the atmosphere a bit stuffy. Come on Cantina - that is pretty poor and easy to fix........

I have been to Formentera every year in the last 10 years and this is always a must. Il gambero rosso crudo (raw red gambas) is amazing. Much better than the sister restaurant bocasalina which is good but not as outstanding. Love it!

Well what a shame. Last year I wrote a review saying this was the best restaurant on the island. This year I'm thinking 'what went wrong?'

We were very excited about coming back to Casanita and booked a table for our first night. My thinking was if it is as good as it was last year we'll be back several times.

It wasn't - so we won't.

There are several things that gave me concern.

1. The food is ok but (now) not brilliant. Lobster and pasta for €24 where you need a magnifying glass to find the lobster.

2. The service is very rushed. We ordered 3 courses at 8.30 and by 9.15 all three had been served. Fine if you are in a hurry but we told the waiters several times to slow down. Apparently that message didn't get through to the kitchen.

3. We were evicted. Yes this the first time in years we were asked to leave our table after 1 hour and 50 minutes.

My conclusion is this restaurant has become all about the money and less about the food and the service.

What a shame. Makes me sad.
