“Enjoyable stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2012

We stayed here for one night and enjoyed our time at the lodge.

On arrival we were upgraded from a garden room to a straw chalet which was lovely: a spacious room and good sized ensuite, sympathetically furnished with comfortable bed, an effective air con unit, a fridge to re-cool the ice block from our cool-box...and possibly the softest towels we have encountered anywhere!

The food was good- dinner was a barbecue buffet with plenty of salads and veg on the side; breakfast was also a good selection of fruits, cereals, yogurts and cooked items on request.

The staff were very smiley and friendly and the service was good.

The highlight of our brief stay was the afternoon game drive- costing N$400pp including a sundowner drink. We were out for about three hours and saw a variety of game...and finished off with sundowners atop a bright red Kalahari dune.

We would recommend this lodge for a short stay.

Strawbale rooms comfortable and clean.
Staff pleasant.
These are the only 2 good points. Very overpriced to the point that I feel we were completely ripped off.
Although the rooms were comfortable there was no view, could not use the fan because of the loud vibration noise, coffee supplied was Ricoffey, no milk in room even though I pointed this out to staff.
Staff were pleasant but had to be asked everything - no service or information offered voluntarily.
Dinner was poor boarding house. - Starters - 1 prawn - if prawns are too expensive why serve them?? 100g or less of tenderised sinewy steak smothered in barbeque spice and salt that it was inedible. Vegetables boarding house style, dessert orinary cake.
Breakfast ok.
Packed lunch a complete rip off at R70. - 1 stale bread sandwich, small juice, 1 boiled egg, banana and small pack of peanuts.
I stayed here some years back and it was fabulous but I think today they are relying on the overseas tourists who do not realise how overpriced it is.
I have travelled often and extensively through Namibia and can truly say this is the worst value for money - should not be more than half of what we paid!

Room Tip: Don't bother going here unless you have a dune chalet with magnificent views which may compensat...

The ranch itself is ok. We had a garden room. It had no view, but was comfortable with all the creature comforts we needed. The evening meal is held around a fire. The setting is really lovely. The food was average. We where drawn by the on-line marketing to the ranch by the "friends". The springbuck and the oryx. It was great to interact so closely with these animals. They also have cheetah on the ranch, but we did not visit them.

We did stay at the campsite.
There are only a few pitches, all far away from each other.
Each pitch as its own little house that includes toilets and shower (hot water).
There is also water and basin on the outside with light.
Each place is well shaded.
There is a braai place and wood is provided.
The lodge includes a reception with a bar/restaurant (we did not try) and has a small swimming pool with sun chairs.
Free WIFI in the reception building.

We had a warm welcome with fresh drinks even staying at the campsite.

The lodge has 3 cheetahs. We did the cheetah feeding tour (160NAM$ pp) that includes cheetah feeding tour and sunset drinks on a small dune nearby. Very nice tour and not so pricey.

Overall, this was the best camping we had in Namibia and the best value for money!

We stayed at one of the five camp sites which was beautifully situated, very private, with our own facilities, free firewood, a braai and everything. The welcome was very warm and friendly. Dinner was great. The staff is extremely helpful and hospitable. The cheetah drive was great fun as well. We would definitely recommend this place and will surely return one day!

Nice ranch but not what we expected. Big rooms, dark, and communal areas quite desolates. The “domestic” springbok beautiful and very interesting the drive through the Kalahari Desert, even though the private reserve doesn’t allow you to see much animals, apart from plenty of different “boks”, 5 giraffes, ostriches, but no big cats or elephants or rhinos. Very nice the sundowner on the red dunes. Food for lunch and dinner not bad, while the cakes at tea time delicious.

It was our first night after Windhoek, and we were extremely happy with our stay. The service was excellent, our dune chalet was amazing with a fantastic view on the desert. We also appreciated the food (dinner and breakfast). Would we ever travel back to Namibia, we would stay there again!
