I have been to this chateau three times now and have always found the staff friendly, the rooms are clean, airconditioned and well appointed. The food is terrific ,if a little pricey. The swimming pool is really nice and there is a tennis court as well. We cycled in the morning and cooled down in the pool in the afternoon. The Chateau itself is really lovelly and the whole experience was very relaxing. If you want full on tourism, forget it but if you want to mix with the locals and meet people from all over Europe then this is the place. If you want english breakfasts then go to Spain!

This is a hotel to avoid. Our room was fairly large and basic but had one small window that made it dingy. Well overpriced
The staff were a real nightmare. Never available and we got moaned at because we didn't say we were having breakfast. he had put out a table with some bread on for 14E. Sorry we caused so much hardship!!!
There is a good Auberge down the raon whihc did great food and reasonable prices. Wish we had stayed there

Beautiful building and garden with Tennis court and swimmingpool which we used a lot. Very noisy with rail and big roads close by. Terrible old, dark, dusty rooms and awful bathrooms, massivly overpriced and extremely unfriendly owner. We cannot recommend anyone to go there.

Nothing particularly romantic or generally outstanding, small and very ordinary furnishing, no fire place at night (end-october), confortable and clean, no more. The food is good, but again nothing to write home about. And of course, way too expensive, with a night including dinner at EUR250. Not really worth it...

This is probably the most romantic castle hotel we had ever stayed in - and we know a lot of castle hotels. The hotel is rated three stars, and this is appropriate. The food is, as often in France, better than the rooms.

Location: Fleurville is located in the southern part of Bourgogne, in the Maconnais. Cluny and Taize are close, and the village of Chardonnay (!) too. To Beaune it is a short drive, because Fleurville is near the autoroute. The small village of Fleurville is not interesting, but picturesque villages are nearby and can easily be reached by bicycles which are provided by the hotel. The castle is surrounded by a small park, where some sounds from the road can be heard. But the rooms are silent, even if the windows are open.

Building: Chateau de Fleurville is a modest castle, more romantic than gorgeous. It is one of those buildings which could easily be home of a ghost.

Rooms: The rooms are three-star-level. The decoration is romantic and colorful. Each room is in a different color. The rooms are rather spacious. They are equipped with brand new air condition systems (we did not use). One of our rooms was a suite which consisted of two bedrooms and a bathroom.

Amenities: The hotel has a quite large pool which was heated up to 23C (although it was early October). There is a tennis court, table tennis, fussball, a sauna, a mini-gym and bikes.

Food: The restaurant is very good. The seared foie gras (sprinkeled with fleur de sel) is to die for! The filet of charolais is also excellent.

  • Liked — Food, ambiance, pool
  • Disliked — simple bathrooms, sounds from the road
