When you arrive in the small square of Puligny Montrachet there is the Le Montrachet Restaurant and hotel. This restaurant makes their escargot in a bit of a unique manor. All throughout Beaune the escargot is delicious, but at Le Montrachet they first prepare a small piece of bread that is full of heavenly garlic and oil and place it inside the shell before inserting the escargot. Therefore; when you pull our the escargot along comes this extra gift of a small piece of fresh French bread that has been cooked to perfection with the escargot. It is a dream!!
Their wine list is superb. The best of the small producers including Meo Camuzet and Roger Belland!! During the warm months the outside terrace is the place to be

You just can not fault Le Montrachet. I confess I returned just for the Lemon Souffle.
Everything else was perfect, with knowledgable well trained staff who time their appearances to perfection.Appetiser, fresh cheese sorbet. first course Butternut Creme soup, Charlotte/Balsamic mousse. Veloute de Champignons paysanne de Legumes. Creme fraishe sorbet with caramel oil.
Main. Filet de Merlu et crevettes, creme de Brocoli et Cresson. (Hake/prawns in a white fish sauce & broccoli creme).Citron souffle.
Wines:Gaillac Mauzac Doux 2006. Robert & Bernarnd Plageois. (Demi).
65 Euros for the 5 course set menu including Wine.

we stayed at Le Chouette and Le Montrachet is a small walk into town, I pre booked as I had read reviews thru Trip Advisor and didn't want to miss out on dining at a Michelin star restaurant . we were not disappointing, it was one of the best meals we had so far in our trip thru the Rhone valley. we had the 5 course set menu along with my wine selection of Clavoillons,Puligny and Chassange Morgeot. beautifully presented restaurant in white and stone,a warm atmosphere where the staff were pleasant ,attentive and explained the menus and food selections.this is a must see/eat destination if you are in the region.some of the great white wines come from this region and if you are into wine its a must visit town.

This restaurant has been a favorite for many years...15+/-. It had been 6 or 7 years since our last visit and so much has changed. The restaurant and hotel have been re-modeled and done well to say the least. Food, wine, service area certainly of 1-Star quality. We certainly recommend that if you are traveling in this area of Burgundy...you should make this a stop to remember!

We were recommended this restaurant by the gracious couple at Domaine des Anges and we were amazed. My wife and I chose the set dinner menu and accompanied it with wines-by-the-glass selected by the sommelier (highly recommend doing this). Both the food and wine-pairings were amazing and I recommend the the set menu, you will not be disappointed. The proportions are substantial and flavors are expertly combined. The service seemed effortless and was always perfect. If you are in the area, don't pass on this restaurant, you will be served a meal that exceeds its Michelin 1-star rating.
