“Lovely hotel in a tranquil spot with a good restaurant and very pleasant staff”
Reviewed July 29, 2011

Stayed here twice on this trip. Our favorite room was 19(also the cheapest) The restaurant is extremely good if a bit pricey. The owner and staff are extremely pleasant. We have used this hotel in the past as an overnight stop en-route to the s.w. We stayed a total of4nights this time and even though the weather was not at it's best we still managed to enjoy the pool and gardens

Stayed for 2 nights en route to Atlantic Coast, and will certainly return. Owners and staff were very welcoming, and our room was spacious and comfortable. Our two nights (Mon & Tues) the Gourmet Restaurant is closed, however the meals at the Brasserie were excellent, and good value. We will treat ourselves to the gourmet next time.
The pleasant garden leads to the river, and is a quiet and restful area with a swimming pool if you feel the need for exercise.
Loue is a small typically French town famous for chickens with riverside walks and little night-life but this suited us very well.
Overall a relaxing and comfortable hotel well situated for LeMans and the Northern Loire which I am pleased to recommend.

A little "out of the way" but well worth the trip to a very quiet hotel with an excellent restaurant and very welcoming staff. Delightful garden to wander around and an outdoor pool for those who enjoy swimming. Well recomended and we stay there every time we are in the area.

Just a little west of Le Mans and a gateway to Solemnes and other interesting areas of the Loire. We found this hotel on line and were very happy that we did. The hotel is owned by a hard working young couple, who couldn't have been more charming. We stayed for 3 nights and were fortunate enough to be able to try out both the Bistro and the Gourmet dining room. The Bistro has simple but well made dinners. The ingredients were very fresh and we enjoyed having the local "Loue" chicken. The Gourmet dining room was a real treat!!! We've been to France close to 50 times, and the meal at the Ricordeau ranks right up there. The chef is very inventive and everything was beautifully prepared. The wait staff consists of one of the owners, with the additon of several waiters. The owner was always happy to explain how the food was prepared and make suggestions for the wine. We chose from some excellent local Loire wines, which are very hard to find in the States. We were not dissappointed.

We will definitely stay at this hotel again if we find ourselves in the area!!

Stayed over for one night on route to southern France. Lovely hotel, located in a charming small town. Hotel is under new ownership and the enthusiasm, and commitment to relaunch this hotel is great. We ate in the bistro (restaurant closed on the evening of our stay) and the food was good and a varied menu (including catering for my vegetarian preference!). Comfortable room with good range of facilities.
Restaurant menu looked very tempting and will try on another visit! Lovely gardens and swimming pool leading down to the river - a quiet and relaxing place to stay, really felt in the heart of France!

Just west of Le mans, the nicest hotel - and the best food - in town. Very welcoming staff. Eat alfresco in the garden if you get the chance.

We overnighted at Le Ricordeau in late June. Our room was well appointed with an excellent bathroom but the real pleasure of this hotel is the delightful and welcoming owners and their staff, the beautiful garden, very good restaurant and altogether high quality of service. Dinner was a real treat - high quality cuisine in a lovely dining room looking out over the terrace and garden. We had our drinks on the terrace before dining inside. Breakfast was the same high quality and variety - fresh fruit and juice, home made jams and compotes, cold meats - served by charming staff on the sunny terrace., A terrific start to a holiday. I hope it goes from strength to strength.
