“Must see...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 20, 2013

A visit to Mardin is not complete without seeing this Monastery. It is located about 5km from oldtown. Easy to find if you are driving yourself.
The price is 6TL (about $3.00) and there is a guide who walks you through the different rooms and provides background information.

“so beautiful and interesting”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 13, 2013

one of the oldest monasteries of the area built upon a temple of Sin. Don't miss it, if you are in the area. Definitely try and buy the specialities made and sold by the munks, like their date cookies and the safran tea.

“If you like old churches.....”

Although the tour is short, it was interesting to see what was built in the earliest years of Christianity.

Take a taxi and let the driver wait for 1 hour. The guided tour was very interesting - the guide spoke good English.
