We wanted to visit Cercis Murat Konagi because years ago Ebru Baybara Demir had been our guide in this area and expressed her desire to open a restaurant featuring traditional recipes of Mardin. We ordered a sampler of appetizers, which, along with a bowl of soup, was almost more than enough for both of us. The Swedish couple next to us ordered this appetizer plus a lamb dish, and it was too much food. The staff gave us a piquant cold tea tasting of mysterious herbs, and we tried the local wine as well. The building is a stone mansion overlooking the vast Mesopotamian plains; you feel as if you are looking at the sea. The tablecloths and all decorations appear to be traditional to the area, and you can purchase a tablecloth. Ebru has wildly succeeded in her dreams.
