“The Good, Bad & the Ugly!”
Reviewed July 15, 2014

The Good
Location is very good, we did hire a car during our stay of the first week in July and thought we had chosen the best location for us. Helen, the Thomson rep was very helpful with any questions we had during our stay and on the welcome meeting handed out cards to request any changes for our room - we requested extra pillows which we received without extra cost ( I had noticed that a previous reviewer had to pay for this).
The food was good, not exceptional but we did see some show cooking. The omelette lady was very good and the lady who did the smoothies. The flambé chef in the evening was very good too.
Our room was very clean.
All the staff we had contact with were very pleasant.

The Bad
It was my birthday on the day we arrived and usually previous hotels have noticed this but not this time, the car hire people did however!
We booked a sea view room, number 202, in our view it was a side sea view, we could see the channel where the sea ran into the bay but most of the view was obscured by trees, not worth the extra we paid for it. I think a higher floor would provide a better view.
Getting a sun lounger was a complete nightmare and we never used one in all of the time we were there, it was ridiculous. Sun beds & umbrella at the beach are 15 euros but at least you can get one!
As mentioned before, the beds were very hard and the pool very small.
The hotel towels really need replacing and to have to give a deposit of 20 euros per pool towel seemed extreme to us, we did leave a deposit but never used the hotels towels as we never managed to obtain a sun bed!

The Ugly
There isn't anything ugly in this hotel and location! We had a pleasant stay and really liked the quietness of Cala Llonga!

Room Tip: We booked a sea view room, number 202, in our view it was a side sea view, we could see the channel...

This hotel is in a lovely position, with beautiful walk to the beach, Nice terraces for sunbathing. Views from dining room great, and all hotel staff very pleasant and friendly. Cala Llonga Beach one of the nicest we have been on. Would definitely return here!

Room Tip: choose a high floor for a good view. we stayed on 6th floor.

We stayed here for a week at the end of June and had a relaxing time. After reading the majority of the reviews I was a little disappointed with a few things. Firstly the room and the bathroom were very small although the sea view was wonderful - room 401. The shower cubicle was a bit strange as over the course of the week the shower tray turned pink not due to anything we were using as we used the soap supplied - which leadds me to another point - the soap was not replaced during the week.
The pool was very small and there was a shortage of sunbeds so unless you were up at the crack of dawn it was almost impossible to secure one - it didn't help that some guests not only occupied the loungers but the Balinese beds as well. Please note that you have to leave a deposit of 20 euros per pool towel and although you get it back at the end of your stay - 40 euros may not be of much use to you at the end of your holiday if you don't live in a country that has the euro as currency - so you may need to budget for this. Also if you want to put your food and drink on your credit card this has to be set up at reception beforehand. Going back to the pool towels the ones we were given were so threadbare there were holes beginning to form so we soon got those changed.
The food was OK - nothing spectacular - we went to dinner at about 8.30 each evening and seldom saw any show cooking - food was quite repetitive although the smoothies at breakfast were a nice touch. You can leave your wine over to the next night if you don't finish it all but on our last night we were told our bottle could not be found and I was given a glass of wine instead - the unfinished bottles of red are stored at the side of the restaurant and when I went to the buffet our bottle was at the front of the shelf and easy to locate so don't know what happened there.
The entertainment wasn't bad except for one night when the animation staff thought it might be fun to watch 3 grown- up couples make fools of themselves.
The hotel is in a lovely position and all the staff we met were very friendly.

Room Tip: best to go for a sea view room

Dear Guest,
First at all we want to thank you for taking the time to let us know how did you spend your holidays with us, and Thank you for highlighting the high and low points of your stay, which help us to improve,
Concernig the shower tray turned pink, some time and while the guest were still staying, we check what happen, in that ocassion where a certain tan mixed with cleaning products.
Regarding leave a deposit of 20€ per pool towel, one option could be. Deliver credit card details at reception desk, in this way guest do not need to leave deposit.
We are sorry if your experience in some points was no up to your standard, We are grateful for your comments regarding our friendly staff and the wonderful sea view from the room.
We look forward to hearing from you,
Best regards

My husband and I went to Fiesta Cala Llonga under recommendation of our travel agent and the fact that it was for couples only. We got a jacouzi room and it was well worth it, the views are amazing and it was great to have our own romantic balcony extending our own space enormously.
The hotel was clean, staff were fabulous and friendly, the public areas to sunbathe and swim we're great, the restaurants were good.
A tip would be that the hotel should have some traditional Spanish tapas available, the music in the public areas could be a bit more updated with some cool chilled music also, the beds are hard and could be made softer.
But, saying this we had the best stay and met some great people.

Room Tip: Get the deluxe rooms with jacouzi

Reviewed July 13, 2014

Stayed here with my husband for 1 week between 5th and 12th July 2014. We booked this trip to celebrate my birthday, and upgraded to a suite. I contacted the hotel by e-mail twice, before our holiday, to request a further upgrade to a Deluxe Room, when we realised that this room category looked better. The first time, they replied to say that they had taken a note of our request and would try their best to allocate this type of room to us. However, the second time I
e-mailed (to ask how much we would have to pay on arrival for this further upgrade), my e-mail was ignored completely. When we arrived, we were allocated a suite on the 3rd floor and our request was not mentioned at all. The suite was disappointing, to say the least. Anyway, here goes with my review ...
Excellent
* The only thing about this hotel, in all honesty, that we rated as 'excellent' was the location. The views from the front of the hotel, over the bay, are really lovely and the situation of the hotel right on the waterside is stunning.
Very good
* Each evening, during the evening turn down service, we got 2 chocolates left for us at the side of the bed. They were the nicest chocolates I have had provided by a hotel!
* Cleanliness was very good. The public areas including the swimming pool area were all kept very clean, and our room was cleaned nicely every day. Having said that, we did watch a member of bar staff walk past litter on the floor 2 or 3 times, and he didn't think to bend down and pick it up!
* The drinks in the All Inclusive package were good, but a little strange. You could have Amaretto di Saronno and Tia Maria (large measures) as part of All Inclusive, but if you wanted Baileys or Drambuie there was an extra charge. We couldn't quite work this out. However, the house wines were good, and the barmen at the pool bar made a very good Hot Lamumba so overall, the drinks were very good.
Average
* The food was very average. In fact, I'd go as far as saying it was often bland, under seasoned and quite tasteless. They seemed to have a knack of taking good quality ingredients and cooking all the flavour out of them! After a couple of days eating in the buffet restaurant, we were bored with the predictability of the food. Lunch and dinner each day were almost identical. The food was certainly all edible and didn't ever upset our stomachs, but it wasn't delicious. We very quickly got to the stage where we didn't really look forward to our dinner at all. The restaurant seemed to appeal to the older guests - they were able to write their room number on their bottle of wine, and keep it for the following night. We ate in the 2 'speciality a la carte' restaurants too (you can book each one for one visit during your stay). The Sushi / Japanese Restaurant was good, if a little quirky. We were asked to order our food 24 hours in advance, but when we asked for a mixed sushi platter to share, we were told initially that this would not be possible and we had to choose only one type of sushi each. However, when our starters were served, they did bring us a really beautiful mixed platter, and the sushi was very good. The prawn tempura main course was also good, but consisted mainly of vegetables with 4 small prawns on top. However, overall, the Sushi Restaurant was our best meal of the week. The Italian Restaurant also required us to order our food 24 hours in advance (in fact, they even reminded us with a note under our door that we hadn't ordered yet). The location of the Italian Restaurant was really beautiful was lovely views over the bay. The salmon carpaccio starter we both had was bland and tasteless (only a flavour of vinaigrette). I was delighted to see a dish called Rasta Pasta on the menu, described as 'spicy dish', and got quite excited at the thought of a meal with some spicy flavour! However, it turned out to be pasta in a bland creamy sauce with red and yellow peppers and courgette, - not a hint of spice anywhere - I had to add a lot of black pepper to give it any taste at all. Desserts were equally disappointing ... the crème brulee did not have a crunchy top, and the panna cotta was actually a crème custard (like crème caramel) but without the caramel (it was yellow when it should have been white). I make better panna cotta myself. As you have probably gathered, food is a huge passion of ours and one of the main things we enjoy about a holiday. In this case, Fiesta Cala Llonga didn't come up to scratch. The best things I ate all week, were the fresh pineapple and the watermelon.
* The staff have often been praised in other reviews. I agree that they did their job well, and were never rude or offhand. Overall, they were friendly and courteous. However, compared to other places we have stayed, they had very little conversation with the guests and didn't exceed our expectations. They did their job - nothing more, (and one man on Reception was definitely grumpy! We got a big sigh every time we asked for anything).
Poor
* We were disappointed that although our suite had 2 balconies (as promised) they faced the back and side of the hotel where the views were non existent. The tiny balcony facing the back, looked into trees and bushes on the hill. The other balcony at the side was tucked behind a fire escape and looked into more bushes and a water tank. This was room 324. Avoid it if you possibly can. Our suite was small and was very dark and oppressive most of the time.
* The air conditioning was very poor, especially in our bedroom. The suite consisted of a very small bedroom leading through to a very small lounge with a sofa bed and a small coffee table. The air conditioning in the lounge made it down to 20 degrees which was OK but the bedroom didn't drop below 25 degrees during the whole week. We did report this, but it didn't change. It was quite hard to sleep at night because the bedroom was so warm.
* The bed was very firm. I couldn't describe it as comfortable. We both got up in the morning with aching bodies because of this.
* Another strange arrangement was in place with obtaining towels for the swimming pool. When we checked in, no-one told us about this. Basically, you have to pay 40 Euros to Reception, as a deposit to get 2 towels. In exchange for your money, Reception will give you 2 cards. You then need to take your cards to the Pool Attendant and swap them for 2 towels. However, the Pool Attendant is not always there and also finishes work at 5pm each day. When we were leaving and handed our towels back, the Pool Attendant didn't have any cards to give us, so we had to take the wet towels back to Reception to get our deposit back. Not a big deal, but just another little 'annoyance'.
* The swimming pool was quite difficult to access, especially for the elderly or infirm. There were 3 sets of ladders - all quite steep. The hotel obviously recognised this, as they had provided a chair lift to lower people into the pool, if required. Actually, on this topic, the shower in our room was over the bath, and the bath had very high sides (it was a whirlpool bath), so it wasn't very easy to get in and out of either.
* As mentioned by other reviewers, the sun loungers around the pool were all booked by 7.30am each day, so unless you were up VERY early to join in the booking frenzy, there was nowhere for you to lie. The hotel didn't really provide enough beds. Other guests were being very inconsiderate of others, booking 2 loungers AND a cabana, when they could obviously only use one of these at a time. They were also booking beds and leaving them unattended - sometimes for 5 or 6 hours at a time. Very irritating for others who couldn't find a free lounger.
* I celebrated my birthday during our stay, but the hotel didn't acknowledge it in any way. Other places where we have stayed have kindly delivered a small cake or even a card to our room to wish me a happy birthday, but this hotel didn't. They knew it was my birthday from my earlier
e-mails about upgrading the room; from my passport which we had to hand in on arrival; and from the other birthday cards I had displayed in my room. Again, no big deal, but the nice extra touches we have had in other hotels were just not there.
Terrible
* My husband had a pair of sunglasses stolen. He went to the toilet outside the main buffet restaurant, left them on a ledge, and when he returned to our table he realised immediately that he had left them. He returned to the toilet immediately to retrieve them and they had gone, (it took less than 2 minutes). Although he reported this to Reception, to the Restaurant, and to the Bar, they were never found. We do realise that it was probably another guest who took them and there was little the hotel could do about this. Made us angry never-the-less.
So there you go. A beautiful location for a very average hotel. I doubt that we'd ever go back. I think there are much better places to visit.
For information, we booked with Thomsons; the weather was fantastic during our whole week; it does get cool in the evenings; the town of Cala Llonga has a few restaurants and supermarkets, but it is quite small; it is very easy to walk from the hotel over the beach to the town (5 minute walk); the larger town of Santa Eularia is close by and can be easily reached by bus or by taxi.

Room Tip: Don't stay in room 324 (suite). It is very dark and has rubbish views. The air con isn't g...

Lovely location right by the waters edge in a beautiful bay. We had room 508 with view of the beach and sea with sun on balcony all afternoon. Room was nice and clean with a great double shower cubicle(hair drier good also (as most females will know this is not always the case). Beds a bit too firm for us better if it was a proper double and not two twin beds as is mainly adult couples type hotel.

Restaurant food good with plenty of choice nice salad bar. I am a Coeliac (can't have gluten or wheat) but this hotel has gluten free crusty bread and a seperate menu for coeliacs if you want it.Staff friendly and efficient special thanks to Connie. As a member of Coeliac UK I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel I was there for 2 weeks and did not have any diet problems.

Reception Staff: Very helpful Isador was always informative and polite

Entertainment. Better than other hotels we have been to even if it was tribute bands we also had acrobats etc still very enjoyable. Laura was so enthusiastic and worked hard

I don't know how anyone can be disappointed with this hotel its great for relaxing and buses easy to get around to Ibiza town and Santa Eularlia

I have no hesitation in recommending it was 29C whilst we were there but can be a bit windy at times

Room Tip: We were in room 508 on 5th floor with view of beach and sea above reception with sun on balcony all...

My husband and I returned a few days ago from a two week holiday at this hotel, it was our second visit and can honestly say that it was as good the second time around. I don't know where Elaine F
stayed but it can't have been the same hotel! As for an earlier review saying that the staff are unfriendly this just not true. They are all professional and work very hard and as with most service industry people respond to politeness and courtesy given to them. The hotel is wonderfully clean, bed linen changed every couple of days and the bathroom spotless. The food is just great, it caters for all tastes and it is varied and I am one of the pickiest foodies around. Location is fantastic and as for the resort being very quiet, it does say in all the reports we have read this is the case. Occasionally getting a sun bed with a parasol can be a problem and it would be a good idea if the lower terraces could be given the astro turf makeover or tiled as it can get a bit dusty. Rooms above the kitchen fans can be a little bit noisy but not too intrusive. Fantastic holiday and we will definitely return.

Room Tip: Higher rooms have less noise from the A/C and book the Italian and Sushi when you arrive.
