Firstly the location was good for us, overlooking the sea and 15 minute walk to San Blas by road, the Irish bar directly across the road from the hotel is ok for a drink at the start of the night or a nightcap but I wouldn't have spent the night there, Los Christianos is 20 minutes in a taxi and costs 21 Euro, worth a visit and plenty of bars and restaurants.
The rooms in the hotel are spacious and kept clean and tidy by cleaning staff who come every day except Sundays and Thursdays, no kettle, iron, limited utensils but our safety deposit box was free, there is free air con as we'll, it's 10 euro for the remote for TV and there are two English channels, Sky News and True Movies, rooms on left hand side as you enter hotel are directly above the nightclub, I believe they are numbered 24-32 preceded by the floor number i e 224, 324, 424 and so on, the nightclub being directly below floor 2, the pool is on floor 2 and has plenty of sunbeds but not enough mattresses to go on the sunbeds, some of the mattresses were in a bit of a state and needed replacing, didn't eat in hotel so can't comment on taste but appearance looked ok.
I would stay here again for the right money but there are better hotels in the area, it's all about getting it for the right price, there's nothing really bad about it apart from if you are in a room above the nightclub but if you can avoid that I'm sure you'll enjoy your stay.

Room Tip: Stay away from left side where nightclub is, ask for Marina view.

Aguamarina Golf Apartment is a fairly modern purpose built holiday attraction on the south coast of Tenerife. Sandwiched between The Aguamarina Hotel and the Aguamarina residential apartments, it’s situated in the Amarilla Golf/Golf del Sur area, close to the flight path of the Riena Sofia airport so that aircraft spotters will be delighted with the opportunity to see, for most of the day, much of Europe’s twin engine short haul fleet and the rare 4 engined Illushin 96 landing or taking off. The noise is barely noticeable. This is very much a sparsely developed and quiet area, hugely contrasting with the bedlam of Los Cristianos or Playa Americas about 15 minutes further up the coast. The small beach is black sand, often used for snorkelling but not likely to be child friendly. Alongside is a plush Marina which operates a tourist sightseeing submarine. The area is rich with golfing opportunities only a short distance in every direction and seems extraordinarily popular with aged puffing walkers.

The complex is somewhat “U”shaped and faces south so that the sun blesses many of the apartments during the day. The central void of the “U” is mainly empty, overlooked by apartments above, the restaurant from the west and a dive school and launderette from the east. This extends seawards to the pool on the first floor level, confusingly 3 floors down from the street and still one level above a marine parade of shops and restaurants.
The pool is nicely situated for all day sun, rarely stirred by the ripple of exercise and surrounded by an array of incredibly stout elderly women overflowing their sunbeds, challenging the technology of Lycra and reeking of sun cream. We called it the walrus pond. Adjacent is a smaller children’s pool though mercifully deserted of irritating spawn at this time of the year. A life guard is on watch from pool opening to closure. There is a handy pool bar in case you get the munchies or need liquid refreshment. Residents are encouraged to enjoy the additional facilities of the neighbouring Aguamarina hotel next door which has tennis and badminton court as well as a children’s play area.

Access the apartments, after the foyer, is via a confusing arrangements of corridors and elevators to transit the various levels. Some elevators and some stairs miss some floors.

The apartments are generously roomy, with kitchen facilities adequate for modest self catering, including fridge/freezer, microwave, two-place ceramic hob and a selection of crockery and cutlery/utensils. Kettles and toasters are barely known in Spanish culture so if you want tea and toast, take your own, £12 each from Tesco. Bedrooms are good sized, modestly appointed with generous hanging space. Beds are twin, pushed together so deep cuddles with a partner will likely require the legs to be tied together...the bed legs of course. Air-con is installed in both bedroom and sitting room, bathrooms are of adequate provision with bath/shower, shower, WC and bidet. Some rooms have a razor-sharp stainless toilet roll holder carefully positioned alongside the WC which will discourage much sitting down. Take a screwdriver. If you insist on a very close shave or meticulous make-up then do so in the elevator because the lighting and mirror are better.

All apartments have balcony or terrace with sliding doors to both sitting room and bedroom, mainly facing the sea but not always in sight of it. In common with many foreign hotels the balcony rails are not resistant to adventurous climbing children. For peace of mind in this regard room numbers 101-114, 321-324 and 325-326 may prevent the fruit of your loins crashing to a bloody death below. The sliding patio doors have nasty, clumsy locking devices which will injure the unprepared or those without Pirate-type hooks for hands, so best to have that screwdriver or something similar to lever the catches up and down. Some rooms are better than others but the only way you would be able to determine this is by the price since the apartment website describes every room the same......and tour companies such as "On The Beach" do likewise. The best rooms are 218, 334, and 434 as they enjoy the sun all day long. The worst are 108-116 because they are on the pool terrace and have little privacy with the curtains open. Rooms 105,205,305,405,505 have unusually large “L” shaped balconies which can get sun all day. Rooms 525,526,610,611,704,705 have larger than usual balconies, 322-324 and 325, 326, have huge terraces on to which you can drag your living-room couch.... and probably play tennis. The couches double as the extra beds. Rooms 324,424,524,609,703 are slightly larger than standard, room 101 is slightly smaller, in each case for structural reasons. The unfit and lazy will prefer rooms in the 400 range as they involve no stairs or elevators from the street level unless descending to the pool (level 1) or restaurant (level 2) Be aware that these are my subjective opinions, open to challenge.

Notable is the surly and unwelcoming reception staff, not at all keen to make you stay as pleasant as possible. By contrast, the housekeeping crew are delightfully helpful , friendly and accommodating. They should swap roles. The hotel has WiFi which is extortionately priced at 20 Euros per week (Fercrisake! I’ve bought cars for less!) but the Broadband speed is little better than dial-up (January 2014). Safety deposit boxes installed in the room can be hired for your valuables.
The restaurant serves buffet meals at attractively pitched prices if you are too idle to cook for yourself. Nearby the apartments there are at least a dozen restaurants, cafes and bars serving an international range of cuisine. Immediately across the road is a small supermarket, well stocked with homely and familiar comforts, frequently staffed by British. Prices reflect the “Corner Shop” status but a large supermarket with better value is 5 minutes drive or half hour walk away, the same distance to join the TF1 motorway.
Free car parking is available about 400 yards away either in the Hotel car park (which doubles as a market on Fridays) or at the kerbside. Plenty of space on the road down to the Marina.

This was my second visit and I’m happy to recommend the place for it’s laid back and quietish amenities.

We travelled with a group of friends (5 apartments). Check in was easy and efficient, all our apartments were spacious, clean and had good views. We stayed bed and breakfast, there was a very good choice at breakfast (apart from the weak orange squash). The pool is large and the area around it has plenty of sun loungers, with lovely sea views. These apartments are very reasonably price and good value for money. There is a good selection of places to eat and drink very close by plus San Blas centre just 15 minutes walk away.

We can not complain about this holiday, we didn't pay a fortune and got in our opinion more than what we thought!
Positives - big apartment kept very clean, in fact the whole complex was extremely clean, excellent balconies, the reception staff were extremely helpful, we figured out after the first day exactly were to sun bathe to get sun all day, we never struggled to get a sun bed, we booked bed and breakfast, it suited us, we ate one night in the restaurant and the food and service was great, the free wine wasn't to our taste!
People were complaining about no kettle and only 3 tv channels so what, we used a pan to boil water and didn't come on holiday to watch tv!!!!
Negatives - the curtsey bus, ha ha it drops you on the outskirts but its still cheaper than a taxi, but I think they need to make it clearer, I also think charging 2 euros to use the iron is a bit naughty, yes I agree to leaving a deposit but think this was out of order.
We would come back here again without a doubt, but without our teenage sons as this is a very quiet resort and there is nothing for them to do

We booked the apartments for a weeks holiday over New Year. Was first time we used Travel Republic and the price seemed very low (less than 300E), especially compared to what we had paid the year before and advertised costs of other nearby locations. That definitely made us wary and wondered what the location and clientele might be like. But I must say we were pleasantly surprised. apartments were fine and hotel clientele was mostly families and older couples.
We knew the area before as we stayed in Golf del Sur but had found aircraft noise a problem, it in landing flight path for Tenerife Sur airport. Regarding the location of the apartments them selves, its a bit confusing as entrance to apartments is just down the road from the Hotel itself. Check in was hassle free, Room was right at back of complex thus easier to access via rear (sort of promenade with bar/restaurants on beach side of hotel). One negative for us privacy wise was that it was on ground floor so right at pool, but kids loved that they could step over ‘balcony’ straight into pool area. Relatively modern set up for kitchen/bathroom (done up in yr 2000’s I’d guess). One big negative was that balcony doors would not lock, complained to Reception expecting no fast resolution but with 5 minutes there was someone at the door and 15 minutes later both doors were fixed! Similarly door handle on inside of room door was loose, within 5 minutes of contacting reception there was someone there to fix it. Towels and sheets refreshed almost daily (only 4 towels so that a bit mean for 4 people). Facilities were fine and you could make use of the 4 star hotels facilities next door (second pool area/kids play area etc in between them).
Location – We had stayed nearby before and thus worried about flight noise but has no issues with it, maybe if on top floor facing the planes (we were on bottom opposite side facing sea) it might be a bit annoying but I don’t think anyone really had any issues with it. The boardwalk behind to hotel has a few bars/restaurants, nothing to write home about but passable for the price. It’s a quiet area of town so if that’s what you are looking for its fine, when we were there it was mostly families and retirees, guessing the twenty somethings hang out in Los Cris. or P.d. Americas, to which there is a free shuttle bus from the hotel. We rented a car and could park it in the public car park beside the hotel for free.
Cant comment on food, never ate there but from looking thru window it looked ok (taking the car we preferred nearby El Medano, nice beach and a bigger range of eateries).

Overall a perfectly reasonable hotel for a very reasonable price.

Downsides – Have to pay for internet, Back door (to beach) sometimes locked at random times, awkward walk around to front entrance, some noise from service room doors slamming/lower tunnely/echoey corridors (not a problem for upper openair corridors).
Upsides – Large double (adults/kids) heated outdoor pools, with great ocean view. Right beside beach even if its small and mainly stony (kids loved throwing stones into the sea!) – Very fast response to service issues

Room Tip: Extended V shape thus end tips of v have good ocean views, inner part looks mainly across to the oth...

The resort was only 10 mins away from airport which was a bit frustrating that it took two hours for the bus to finally depart to drop us off. Think we'd get a taxi next time.
Arrived at the apartments to be very impressed. The staff were friendly and the rooms were clean and spacious and set out perfectly. We had a big balcony that faced the sea and pool.
The area was very quiet but this suited us as we wanted a quiet break before Christmas.
The free bus into Los Cristianos and Las Americas was a nice touch.
We had 4 nights there and really enjoyed the sound of the waves each night!

We stayed here for two weeks over Christmas and were delighted with our choice. we are late 40s with two sons aged 12 and 15. Our main criteria is very clean, good sized apartments with sea view in a quiet location. Aguamarina ticked every box for us. We were in apartment 509, which had a fantastic sea view, but no evening sun. There is however a roof terrace, which you can take your balcony chair up to and sit until sunset!. There is so much space in these apartments, and another big plus is having patio doors off both the living area and bedroom, on to a very large balcony. The apartments were quiet for the first week we were there, but full over Christmas. We heard no noise either week and also had no trouble securing four sunbeds with cushions when we needed them. Sometimes that would be at 10am after breakfast, but other times we went out and came back mid day or in the afternoon. There is so much space that you never feel crowded at the pool area. There was always a life guard on duty and they did pay attention particularly when wee ones were playing in the pool. There is no music by the pool, which again suited us, but the hotel next door had a busier vibe if that was what you were looking for. All facilities of the hotel are available for apartment guests. We played tennis French boules, volleyball, putting, table tennis and crazy golf. There is also an indoor pool and a gym at the hotel. All of this is free, but you need to pay a 5euro deposit for the equipment. There is entertainment in the hotel every evening. There is even a large auditorium which is used some nights. Fram (which I take to be a sort of French Thomsons type company) seem to run the entertainment so it is mostly in French, with a smattering of English thrown in.

Let's put the kettle issue to bed. There is no kettle, but there is a filter coffee machine, which you can use just to heat water. It is very quick to heat up. The microwave will also heat water very quickly and there are two halogen hob rings which can also be used. The microwave is also a grill, but as we had breakfast in the hotel we didn't try it for making toast. We felt the apartments had everything we needed for self catering assuming you can live without an proper oven. Decent sized pots, frying pan and utensil etc were all provided. No dish towel, but we just bought a three pack of kitchen towels and used that to dry anything left after sitting on the draining board. The fridge and freezer are nice and big and actully worked! Sky News, CNN and for us the True Christmas channel were about all the TV channels we had in English, which was great as the boys couldn't sit box watching for hours on end. No need for a remote unless you can't be bothered to use the buttons on the side of the TV!!! There was a hair drier in the bathroom, and two showers, which was great. The boys found the sofas quite comfortable to lie on, but they were not terribly comfortable to sit on as the mattresses were quite big and therefore too wide for my short legs! I sat on one of the seats from the balcony or one of the dining chairs instead. The apartments were cleaned every day apart from Thursday and Saturday. I felt the whole complex was cleaned to quite a high standard.

Food - We had breakfast each morning and felt it was good. There is a wee woman who manages to make fried eggs, omelettes, pancakes etc to order, and also manages to keep the rest of the not buffet supplied. She is run off her feet and lovely! The rest of the staff are also good, but less busy. I have Coeliac disease and they managed to provide me with a basket of gluten free bread and cakes etc each morning, which I felt was very good service. Lots of fresh and tinned fruit, hams, cheese etc, so plenty to eat and reasonable quality. WE ate here at night once, but it was not great. It was however very cheap at 36 euros for four including a bottle of wine (which was very drinkable) and coke for the kids. It was actually well worth that, but lacked atmosphere and we do enjoy eating out, so decided not to go back. They did make me some specially fried potatoes as the chips were not gluten free, and they were great. Again good service.

I agree with the recent comments about the reception staff. It was mostly a guy on when I was there. He was not rude, but also not too helpful. I ended up in hospital for three days during my holiday with gastroenteritis. This could have been picked up anywhere, and I am in no way blaming the hotel for that. However, my husband had to call an ambulance via reception, The guy knew I was taken to hospital, but nobody enquired about how I was or what was wrong either while I was in hospital or after I came out. I am not particularly precious, but feel that if one of my guests had been blue lighted to hospital I would want to know if they were ok.

All in all a great holiday, and I have no doubt that we will return again. In the last four years we have stayed in the Santa Barbara apartments also in Golf Del Sur, Tropicla Park in Callao Salvaje, and the Bahia Princess Hotel in Adeje. Aguamarina beats them all, particularly Santa Barbara, which had dreadful apartments and extremely crowded pool area. We walked past there many times this holidays and the smell from the sewage plant was unbearable. We were so glad we chose Aguamarina instead.

.

Room Tip: Most rooms will have some sort f view of the sea. Don't think there is a really bad room.
