“Good value brunch”
Reviewed September 15, 2013

Went here for brunch and drinks. Upon entering The Terrace it was obvious it was quite popular with quite a few people there but we found a table with no issues. After looking at the menu we ordered the club sandwich (£5.95) and Cheshire cheese baked potato (£5.25). For drinks we ordered the small latte (£1.99), rooibus tea (£1.65) and Saltaire beer (£2.70). These were all ordered with no problems, however none of the staff actually knew what the rooibus tea was upon asking, and whether or not it should be served with milk.

The club sandwich had a good filling that was evenly distributed throughout and came with a coleslaw and salad making it a good value, however we did find some foil still stuck to the bread. The jacket potato also was good value, and came with plenty of cheese and salad including a coleslaw, however the cheese wasn't Cheshire cheese and instead just a mild cheddar which was disappointing.

Overall we enjoyed our brunch here and it had a bustling atmosphere which made it a pleasant spot. Although there were minor issues with our food and service here, it wouldn't put us off visiting again.

“breakfast treat”
Reviewed September 1, 2013

We went to The Terrace on the spur of the moment having had a local appointment a little earlier. The 'feel' of the place was immediately welcoming and we felt comfortable at the small window table. The owner/waiter was friendly and pleasant.
We ordered Egg Benedict and Egg Florentine plus cappuchino coffees.
The coffees were hot, frothy and pleasantly strong.
Both our breakfasts were really tasty and pretty substantial.
Overall it was a very nice experience and we will certainly go back again.
I'm giving it 4 stars only because the service was a bit slow and the café itself could do with a little brightening up

“Well worth a return visit...”
Reviewed August 28, 2013

After many recommendations, I finally made it to The Terrace. My initial concerns that it was small and poky were soon waylaid by lovely food, attentive service and a great atmosphere. Unlike anything else around here. Highly recommended.

“GREAT FOOD AND ATMOSPHERE”
Reviewed August 5, 2013

Went for the first time recently and wasn't sure what to expect. The food was excellent and such good value too. It had a great atmosphere and was extremely busy. My initial impression was that there was not enough staff, however, the staff worked very hard and there was not any delays at all, so excellent service too. It was extrememly busy so booking is recommended. Can't wait to go back and try other dishes although I think I will pass on the pig cheeks.

“Let down by carelessly cooked food.”
Reviewed August 3, 2013

Faultless service let down by badly cooked food. You cannot argue with raw sardines for starters and a main of very over cooked tiny mussels with soggy chips. Having said that when the sardines were sent back to the kitchen, the 2nd attempt were good. However when you are looking forward to big fat juicy mussels and tiny little ones appear it is disappointing. I really hope their food soon matches the same standard as service which was excellent.
