“Early Bird meal is great value”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 27, 2013

The Shama is, and always has been, a fairly cheap and cheerful curry house. It's not the Aagrah and don't pretend to be.

They're us a very small (4 car) car park immediately in front but to be honest it's just as easy to find street parking nearby. Inside its got seating for those wanting takeaway, plus the standard tables and chairs for those dining in. We normally get the early bird which is available at any time! Poppadom to start, a choice of mushroom pakora, mixed kebabs and a couple of others for starters, then a main course from the dopiaza, masala, madras curries etc, with chappatis or rice. All of that for £5.50. It's tasty and well prepared and while its not the absolute best curry out there, it's a good honest local curry. There is a much more extensive selection for those that want more and nothing costs that much. Our waiter this time was a little straight faced but generally everyone is very helpful.

If you want a nice curry, in nice surroundings with pleasant service, that won't break the bank, then the Shama is recommended.

“Complement to Chef !”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 21, 2013

Chicken Tikka Masala and Butter Chicken were the best Indian meals we have ever had. Fresh spices and the made to order meals were complimented by excellent service by their staff. Prices were good value and nice atmosphere. Our relatives from Austria just wish they could take the food and service back with them.

“good value”

Full of people even on a winter weekday evening, all ages - always a good recommendation. Very tasty veg biryani and the best peshwari naan I've had. Staff helpful.
No licence so take your own if you want something stronger than soft drinks.

“Nice”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 3, 2012

I normally went to the vast amount of other curry houses around the Shipley / Bradford area. This one is normally overlooked but it is a fantastic little place, it is cosy inside and the food is cheap and of great quality....they got my order slightly wrong but it was rectified in an instant!!

“Random visit but not random food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 26, 2012

My boyfriend is originally from this neck of the woods so we popped in randomly for some dinner on the way back to the north-east.

Upon entry the restaurant was decorated basically and was pretty quiet. The waiter greeted us promptly and asked if we wanted drinks. When it came to ordering he also offered a curry suggestion for my boyfriend who was a bit lost with all the choice.

The popaddoms and pickles were pretty tasty, but standard I would suggest. We both had Baltis with some pilau rice and 3 chappatis as sides. For drinks we had a jug of water and a coke. The curry's were lovely and just perfect portions - too often you can get too much food in an indians and it is a struggle to finish the scran....but not on this occasion. The food was also served promptly and the 2 waiting staff were polite enough.

After the food we received some mints and hand wipes. The food bill came in at £18.80 which I think was very fair for what was a tasty meal.

We would definetly come back for a quick curry at at reasonable price.....thanks very much.
