“A favourite venue”

Salta Mill has a wonderful book store where you can browse for hours, 2 very nice restaurants (the Diner and the Cafe in the Opera), a wonderful furnishing fabric and rug store and other shopping experiences from kitchenware to antiques. In addition it houses the Hockney gallery with an ever-changing array of original Hockney paintings. Salts Mill is a wonderful place to while away a rainy afternoon, to meet friends or to take the grandchildren. We love it and visit frequently. It is one of the hidden gems of Bradford!

“I love everything about this village”
Reviewed February 26, 2013

The mill is huge with a great history. Lots of interesting and different concessions, with (I think) an on going David Hockney exhibition. Well worth an afternoon visit as is the Village.

“Potential for a proper day out”
Reviewed February 23, 2013

We visited late on a Friday afternoon; when life was slowing down and cafes closing. To me it is a good space to spend time browsing and questioning why you would want to buy anything other than a lunch (food looked good!). The Mill and the countryside are the stars; pologies to Mr Hockney but I could spend more time looking at the shifting shades and moods of the hills from the staircase than getting too serious over the vaguaries of the art on display.

“Diner is poor”
Reviewed February 20, 2013 via mobile

Espresso was served in cold cups, so was tepid. Pizza was sub Pizza Express fare, mushroom burger was a mushroom in a bun for £9. Tables and chairs felt cheap, staff were slow and disinterested. Shame, the setting is nice, and the bookshop is great. Guess they don't need to try.

“Heritage experience”
Reviewed February 20, 2013

Fabulous use of the very impressive Victorian mill building. Good and interesting shops within it, unusual book selection in the book shop. Very interesting history boards of the mill and DVD to watch. Very disappointed to find that parts, including the exhibition of the Hockney trees were closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
