We have just spent nine nights at Villa Madnis, and everything was fantastic.
Area around Padul:
Padul offers easy access to Granada, taking a maximum of 30 mins on the motorway with underground parking in the centre. There’s a bus-stop 5 mins walk from the Villa with a regular 30 mins service into the centre of Granada. It takes approx. 1½ hrs (max) to drive to the Alpujarras villages. We hired a car and went to many places: Priego de Cordoba, Monachil & high up to the ski-lifts in Sierra Nevada, Pampaneira & Trevelez in the Alpujarras region, Parque Natural el Torcal near Antequera. We didn’t visit Cordoba or Seville as it was hot, but it’s all within reach. There’s plenty to do, and as we like walking we were happy taking it fairly easily and strolling around some of the local villages – Niguelas is tiny and very pretty, and of course, there’s Granada, which is beautiful.
Philippe & Evelyne gave us a lovely welcome to their home, and made us feel completely relaxed and free to come and go as we pleased. The accommodation is very spacious, beautifully furnished, spotlessly clean, the bed made every day with bed linen and towels changed regularly. We could use their swimming pool and garden if we wanted (we didn’t have time!), and their basement offered a gym, comfortable settees, TV, refreshments where you could help yourself, and e-mail/web access.
When we arrived they gave us homemade lemonade (and it’s these little touches which make such a difference to your stay), and the four of us sat down together and chatted about where we wanted to visit. They were extremely helpful and a fountain of knowledge eg which junction to get off for wherever you wanted to visit, where to park, etc. They had loads of printed information, and were very informative. This helps so much when you’re in an area you don’t know, and gives you that extra bit of confidence when you know where to park, which exit to take on a roundabout, etc. Throughout our stay they were very, very helpful and genuinely interested in making sure we had a good time.
Breakfasts were excellent and we ate out on the terrace. There was plenty to eat with homemade cakes, yoghurts, fruit, and homemade jams. All beautifully laid out and a real treat.
We would thoroughly recommend staying with Philippe & Evelyne. Their English is good, and they are a lovely couple who gave us everything we could possibly want to ensure we had a good stay in sunny Spain!
