“Our little Oasis”
Reviewed August 26, 2013

The name of the Hotel is a bit misleading as we thought it would be in a garden.

However the Hotel is squeezed into a tiny block in the centre of the little town of Tabernas.
The garden is of course within the hotel courtyard.

But we were pleasantly surprised the whole place is delightful, cool and well decorated and maintained.

Hats of to our Host who runs around keeping everything moving and the guests needs attended to.

We chose to have dinner in the Hotel and it was a delicious local menu produced in the little kitchen, the waiter (again the Host) runs an amazing obstacle course from the kitchen to the table.

Not a lot of English spoken but much better than our Spanish.

We hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did.

My wife and I visited with our three small children. We arrived on a late flight and had trouble with our rental car, so we arrived at 0200 in the morning. The proprietors of the hotel had the door open for us, and they helped us with carrying in our luggage and our sleeping children. The next day, they gave us great advice on local destinations, and we had a great time in their swimming pool (a cool commodity in a hot desert!) We stayed for a few days, and on our final day there, when we announced that we wanted to go to the beach, they advised us on which beach to visit and which to avoid: the beach where the locals went, and the beach that was only visited by tourists. We went to the locals' beach, and it was beautiful. We had a wonderful time, and if we ever visit Tabernas again, we will definitely stay there.

8 of us stayed for 4 nights and couldn't of asked for more. All the rooms were lovely, well kept and clean. Plus the view from the upstairs room balcony was amazing.

Breakfast was great.

The hotel is situated right in the centre of Tabernas with the local shops/bar only a minutes walk.

Tabernas is stunning - a must visit if you're heading to southern Spain. Jardin del Desierto is value for money accommodation, run by a kind owner. The rooms are nicely done with rustic walls, and everything you need is provided, including a little balcony overlooking the street. The place is a little hard to find among the winding lanes of the village, but once you figure it out, the location is pretty central to the rest of the town.

We spoke very little Spanish, but managed to figure out a vegetarian dinner (for me), bus timings and everything else with the owner, who is kind and patient. We spent most of our time hiking in the Tabernas desert and loved it.

We very much enjoyed our stay here as a family of four during the winter season. We especially appreciated being able to stay with our two young kids in the same room, which is rare to find city accommodation in Spain with 4 beds. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful. The dinner was prepared by the owner and of reasonable quality; we didn't have time to try any of the local restaurants. The breakfast was good value (4Euros) and offered a large spread of baguettes, various spreads, and fruit. The town was quiet at night so sleeping was very comfortable. The hotel was hard to find even though the town is quite small so I recommend parking in the town square - or just a bit further along the main road - and walking to the hotel first. Parking is available onsite in the hotel's private garage for an extra 10Euros.

We recently went on a trip around Cabo De Gata and stayed three nights here. It
was a great experience. The owners were really helpful and accomodating and the room we had was beautiful, in fact the whole place was really nicely decorated with thoughtful touches such as a new bottle of water everyday in the room. It was also spotlessly clean. Rooftop pool was a bonus too.
I enjoyed the breakfast, and as we are both Vegetarian, we enjoyed the tomatoe tostada every morning with some fruit. They also made me a pot of hot water every morning too!
i would love to go back and visit again .
Thankyou C and J X

We stayed from Saturday till Tuesday. Very nice people. Large rooms, very clean all with airco. Small pool on the sunroof, nice to refresh. The town was great for us because when we stayed the festivities for August 15th were going on with free food and drinks :)
