Stayed at this hotel as part of the first and last night of a cycling holiday. Coincidentally we had the same room each time. On the first visit half of the shower door was missing, meaning water went everywhere when showering. We didn't say anything as we were only staying for the one night. On our return a week later we were allocated the same room to find that the shower door was still not replaced. On reporting it to reception, the lady told us that this had just broken and been removed yesterday and not to worry! We knew this wasn't true but put up with it, feeling disappointed. We also asked the same lady how much approximately for a taxi to the station? Her reply was a straight- "I don't know!" Not a very helpful response. Otherwise, view from our room was beautiful, the food was lovely, and other staff were very nice.

We stayed at La Bastiglia for 2 nights including dining in the hotel restaurant.
A beautiful setting on the slopes of southern section of Monte Subasio with a view over hills and villages.
The hotel is well run and provides guests with the usual facilities.
It provides a welcome respite after journey in a truly tranquil setting of Umbrian countryside.
Well recommended.

While the views surrounding the hotel were amazing, the room air conditioners were worthless. It was hot during out visit and coming back to a warm room was not ideal. The pool was nice but we had to use our room towels and new towels for our room were not available until later in the evening. The staff was somewhat pleasant but not entirely professional. The town of Spello was beautiful but the hotel could use some new air conditioners.

The hotel is situated on the right side of Spello, which is the calm "back side" with the wonderful view to the fields and not to the highway. Easy to fin by car if you follow the signs. Easy to find free parking nearby (we were there in the end of June). Beautiful interior. Very nice terrace with the best view. Beautiful pool, though small. Good food, but not stunning. We had a standard room one floor down from the reception, with a small terrace outside. It was described as a garden, which is not real. The room had medium standard, needed refurbishment. The AC did hardly work, and the air was rather damp - bathwear did not dry at all. If they do not fix this, the hotel will decay. The staff was very helpful, especially when we missed a thing that had fallen down behind the TV, they willingly sent it to us by post.

La Bastiglia is located at the upper end of Spello, with a beautiful view over the valley and mountains beyond. There is a small pool and a pleasant outdoor dining area. Dinner was excellent, but breakfast was pretty feeble. No fresh fruit or juice, some meagre slices of salami and cheese, mostly packaged pastries and bread.
The room I stayed in was large and clean, although it would be rough on people with limited mobility, since it could only be reached by several long flights of stairs.
Overall, a nice hotel and decent value, but could be great with a bit more effort
