Description: Enoteca Properzio 2 is set in a very specific context, specifically in a place dating in 1550, part of the famous palazzo dei Canonici , next to the Cathedral of Santa Maria Maggiore in Spello. Legend says that here Pinturicchio lived and worked in this environment for a long time , (considered the most celebrated artist in the area). Enoteca Properzio 2 , also protected by the Fine Arts, comes from the requeirement to offer customers a greater and more impressive space compared to the original Properzio 1. The restaurant is divided into several areas, designed for the maximum comfort of guests: outdoor area with umbrellas, indoor dining rooms , rooms for private tastings and a large interior courtyard for summer. Why do people choose Enoteca Properzio 2? It is the ideal place for breakfasts, lunches and exclusive dinners with tasting menus or a la carte or even to enjoy amazing aperitivi at any time during your day.

“A Most Memorable Afternoon!”
Reviewed January 21, 2013

A long overdue review of a place I can't forget that we visited in Sept, 2012 - we spent a wonderful afternoon dining and tasting with our friends and Roberto and Luca the most amazing hosts - the wines were exquisite, the olive oil (you MUST have the olive oil, like none other) and the fresh, elegant and simply prepared food was delightful. Now many months later we uncork a bottle of that wine and I'm back in Spello for the loveliest of afternoons - if you go to Umbria, you must go to Enoteca Properzio!

Reviewed January 13, 2013

It was just great finding Roberto helping us to find something to eat after 4PM.. Everything was closed and he just called for the "chefs" and they prepared a very delicious Menu for us... The happy and very sympatic Roberto make the menu even better.. Thank you for the great experience... We will always remeber this day!!
It is really a great place to visit... if you want to buy the best wine of Italy, for sure you will find there.. If you just want to have a great chat, do not think twice...

“Still the best”
Reviewed January 13, 2013

After our annual visit(s) to Enoteca Properzio, I can't help but confirm my previous review (Jan 2012). This is a unique and special experience, especially for those who enjoy and are interested in wine (which, let's face it, is most of us). Whether you are a novice or an expert, Roberto and his staff will ensure that you taste some excellent wines and will provide you with interesting information as you go. His cellar is extensive and his knowledge and enthusiasm mean that our visits are always a highlight of our annual visit. We go for lunch, which is a tasting experience of the best local produce, matched with a range of excellent wines. In winter, we eat in a charming, evocative indoor space, and in summer either in the piazza at the front or in the internal courtyard. It is not a formal dining experience but a charming, friendly place to enjoy first class food and wine and the best Umbrian hospitality. We always take visiting friends and can't count the number of people we have recommended to go - and without exception, we have had rave reviews. Enoteca Properzio will ship wines and in our experience this has always occurred promptly and without problem. Its reputation at the forefront of Italian enoteche is well-deserved.

“American student wine tasting”
Reviewed January 13, 2013

Group of 4 American graduate students arranged wile tasting luncheon ahead of time. Great service and atmosphere, a friend of the owner translated into English so we did not lose out on his advice. Great meal and wine parings, sent a half case of wine/ olive oil back to the states for gifts.

“Disappointing”
Reviewed December 28, 2012

After reading many positive reviews here on tripadvisor, we were extremely disappointed by this place. We called in advance to know if we could have dinner and were informed that they have a reduced menu at the moment but that all their food is of good quality. Upon arrival, we were neither asked what we wanted, nor handed a menu or wine list. It was the owner taking charge here, not leaving us any choices. We were served a big dish of bruschette each and a glass of Grechetto followed by two red wines. The wines were undoubtedly very good but the food was extremely poor. We were given very little choice of dishes (soup and two kinds of pasta to choose from). When we saw that the soup was coming from the microwave, we skipped that one. Where the Michelin Star Chef was the owner mentioned - we don't know. We took the tagliatelle al tartufo that were nothing special at all. Roberto the owner was very pushy trying to sell us some expensive wines and he was rude enough to mention that as we are from Switzerland we should have enough money to order a couple of boxes. After that, all we wanted was leave. If in Spello, ignore this place if you want really good food. Try La Cantina instead, a place with great atmosphere, real chefs and authentic food.
