“Understaffed at Peak Times”
Reviewed September 12, 2012

Arriving at 5pm, there was a queue to check in due to there being only a single receptionist, and going for my evening meal at 7pm there was still a queue and still only one receptionist.

Evening meal was taken in the tiny in-house dining room which is very cramped. The food isn't Gordon Ramsay but then again, the meal deal at £22 is decent value. The two waitresses were hard pressed to cope but did so admirably.

The staff were lovely (Stefanie is great at customer service and waitressing), parking is free, wi-fi is still charged - £3 for 24 hours, and for a change I found a Premier Inn with a strong wi-fi signal.

As we were travelling to see the para olympics we were dreading trying to find a hotal within budget that wasn't awful. Elstree premier inn was brilliant on all accounts, the staff were friendly and professional, always asking if we were enjoying our stay. The food was lovely with a good variety available in a small but well presented restaurant. Rooms were clean and comfortable only small complaint would be the racket from the toilet every time we flushed it! The hotel was only five minutes from the train station with a twenty minute train ride to london at £8.50 for a day travel pass... bargain!

Very nice welcome on arrival, very clean. Breakfast also very good. Bed was a bit springy felt like I was on a water bed at times, but it makes a change from the usual hard beds. A touch noisy in the early hours but thats not the hotel fault just the bad manners of some guests.
Staff were very friendly and polite. I would stay here again.

Really good value for money hotel, clean rooms, staff fantastic (especially Stephanie and Thomas in the restaurant- they couldn't do enough for us). Recommend the meal deal they have- three course dinner each with a drink and a massive breakfast for the next day- lovely.

To get there seemed daunting at first- but is really easy! From St Pancras its a 20 minute train journey with national rail, and a taxi from the station to the hotel is £4 (or you can walk which is a good half hour but some nice cafes you can stop off at on the way). A taxi from London City centre to the hotel is £35- not bad when you just want to get into a comfy bed after a nights drinking!

Stayed for two nights, and we would go back as we had a great, hassle free stay- just what you want from a budget hotel.

Very clean, everything in good working order, although the air con was a bit noisey and the bathroom got a bit stuffy because you're advised to keep the bathroom door closed when using the bath or shower so that you dont set off the alarm. close but not too close to town centre and there are plenty of places for a breakfast or meal at prices cheaper than those of the hotel.

The staff at this particular location were so helpful and friendly they really made our three night stay more enjoyable. Our first night, we ate supper in the hotel. My meal of chicken was gorgeous, and my daughter just about picked up her plate of chicken and licked it clean. I don't recommend the steak (which my husband had) it was very chewy (but then we are used to Alberta beef). The location was wonderful as well, the High Street (main street) was a pleasant walk away, and consisted of a Tesco, and loads of restaurants, shops and a few pubs (where if you want a full English breakfast you could get one for £2 rather than the £8.95 at the hotel. Although the pub doesn't offer all you can eat, you could order 4 of the pub versions for the price of one breakfast at the hotel). There is a pool and exercise facility just down the road as well, where my husband went swimming 2 of our 3 days there. There is also a movie theatre down the road. I preferred to walk to all these locations, because parking is always a hassle. The hotel is a bit of a distance from central London, but no worries you can either drive or take a cab to the tube station (if travelling with more than one person, the cab to the tube is cheaper than the bus to the tube I was told by the super helpful staff) and then London and all its sites are just a train stop (or 10) away.
