“Beautiful little hideaway with great amenities”

My partner and I stayed at Ghillie's Cottage for a long weekend in February 2015. After looking at all the holiday rental reviews in Wales that we could find on Trip Advisor, we decided that this idyllic little cottage would be the one for us.
When we drove up to the group of cottages, we were pleased to see that they were just like the pictures! After a long drive from N. London, we felt right at home as soon as we opened the front door. The cottage was warm, cosy with underwater heating. Massive plus points for the hot tub (amazing after a day of hiking/ climbing Snowdon), comfortable and beautifully decorated living space with log burner, Netflix and Wifi (especially as it is pretty much impossible to get this anywhere else in the area!), brilliant kitchen and welcome basket.
We are really grateful that we were able to bring our puppy with us as well.
The cottages are close (by car) to attractions such as Mount Snowdon and Pistyll Rhaeadr waterfall.
Thanks for a lovely and relaxing stay.

“Brilliant Hideaway”

This was the perfect getaway for a long weekend in January after a very hectic November and December. Every facility was available, including a wonderful hot tub, and the house was meticulously appointed inside and out. The building and the interior design were both to the highest standard and the whole complex was simply a wonderful place to go and unwind. We had the most thoughtful welcome pack awaiting our arrival (including locally sourced fresh eggs!). We will certainly be back and can't recommend the place highly enough.

Just spent 7 wonderful nights at Rivercatchers Gillies cottage. What a fantastic place. The log fire was brilliant. It really made it cosy. The hot tub was a great bonus too. It has everything you need and more. Would absolutely recommend staying here. Thank you for a wonderful holiday. Would love to return.

“A tastefully decorated & furnished little cottage in beautiful surroundings”

I booked this cottage several months ago before it had been completely refurbished so I was unsure what to expect but hoped for the best. Thankfully my trust was rewarded! The cottage was beautifully & tastefully decorated & furnished & the location just stunning. It was a lovely touch to be left the essentials as well as a few goodies upon our arrival.

Jen & her family should feel very proud of all they have achieved as the other cottages on the Rivercatcher site are equally of a very high standard. Thanks also to Aled twho does a great job at maintaining the grounds & cottages in a friendly manner! I hope we will be back!!!

“Best cottage ever!”

Our daughter told us about her stay at Rivercatcher in those words that we as her parents could not wait to make the earliest booking possible. Her feedback was an understatement. Although the pictures on the site are not bad, the actual experience of staying her yourself is far better. Everything is taken care of. Being an amateur chef I was delighted that see that even all the kitchenware available was far more than you normally have including a proper set of cooking knives!
Views form the house are amazing including the parts of un unmantled railway which make you dream of earlier times.
Who can say that the neighbors run a Michelin restaurant. Excellent, excellent food although quality has its price.
Do not forget to use the Explorer Map in the cottage and plan your walks; some are exhausting but the pint at the pub afterwards tastes even better. A nice walk can be found on "walking Britain" walk number 1256.
In what phase of your life you are, you always find here what you need to re energize!

“What a place”

We stayed in the beautiful little cottage the first week in September,we arrived a bit early and expected to hang around the wonderful grounds but as the owner was cleaning one of the other magnificent cottages she allowed us in early.
And what a delight as we entered a tastefully decorated well appointed beautiful cottage, the attention to detail was amazing the welcome pack a surprise with bread, eggs, apples, butter, milk and a bottle of wine.
Nice white fluffy towels and bathrobes, lovley crisp bed linen I could go on....... the garden looks out on to the river Dee we were the only couple staying there so it was so quite. And I must mention the hot tub a delight to sit in and look out over the garden and the river it is checked every day by the site manager.
Our first time to Wales but now we have found this cottage it will not be our last.

“The best self catering cottage we have ever stayed at”

We were met by the Owners on our arrival who welcomed us and our small dog for our week long stay at Ghillie`s Cottage. A welcome starter pack was laid out on the kitchen table, which was very much appreciated, The local shop/post office is a 2 minute drive down the road, if there was anything we had forgotten to pack, but there was no need as the owners had pretty much thought of everything. The first thing you notice is the peace and quiet on this delightful River Dee setting with only the variety of different birds singing, breaking the silence,we were lucky enough to see a Kingfisher during our stay and spent many an hour sitting in the Garden, and sitting in our very own Hot Tub,wishing the week never to end, The weather was warm and sunny the week we were there, so we never got to light the Logburner but it would be very cosy during a winters stay with an ample log supply to keep you warm set in the original inglenook fireplace. Good size TV`s in the living room and bedroom and Internet which was very easy to log on to All the rooms were tastefully decorated. The cottage is very central with a short car drive to Bala Lake, and Llangollen and about 35miles from Barmouth, If you like fishing the, River Dee is at the bottom of the garden, and has Brown Trout, Sea Trout and Grayling. which the owner would be more than happy to give you more information on. We will be spending many more holiday`s at Rivercatchers, it`s not often you find your perfect holiday but we know we have found our`s.
