“Shame that we could not stay longer”
Reviewed July 8, 2012

First of all there was parking on the road outside Monfa, or you could use their car park if you preferred. Check in was smooth and we were given fresh milk for our tea and coffee in the room. The bedroom was spotless with dressing gowns and plenty of towels. The bathrooms were upstairs with more towels and shampoo etc if you wished to use them. When we returned from being out for a meal, the room was lovely and warm and a sound night's sleep was had on the comfortable mattress. Breakfast the following morning was one of the best cooked breakfast we have ever been presented with whilst on holiday. The service was most certainly the best. This is an excellent find and an ideal place to use as a base if you are walking in the area. I would most certainly visit Bala again, if only to stay here.

Stayed here for two nights. Arriving late on a bus Helen informed us where we could get food.

We had the twin room on the ground floor. Room was spacious and very clean. Only thing was room was not en-suite and bathroom was upstairs. However congestion was not a problem as there are two bathrooms next to each other.

Breakfast very goodn with a choice of either smoked fish or a cooked breakfast with decent quality meat from the butchers. Rate was also very reasonable. Wifi available, just ask for passcode.

The rooms and bathrooms are extremely clean with good facilities. The shower was powerful. The hosts Ron and Helen are very friendly and attentive. Though it was not very cold in May, the heating was on till mid-night to keep the whole house warm. Every piece of the food, including the tea biscuits in the room, is at very top quality. The experience at Monfa was more like staying at a friend's home but not a B&B. I think it was the best B&B that I have stayed in over the past few years.

Pet friendly b&b in Bala, Snowdonia, Wales. My wife and I took our Bichon Frise pup, Poppy who was made to feel as welcome as we were. Small b&b with just two rooms but immacullately clean with very friendly owners and I must say the cooked breakfast was just out of this world!!!

Thank you for being so welcoming to me, my wife and the dog! See you again I'm sure.

Room Tip: Make sure you visit Bala Lake which is a 2 minute walk down the road. Wonderful views and really ver...

Spent the New Year weekend walking in the hills surrounding Bala and stayed at the Monfa for 3 nights.
Ron and Helen are excellent hosts, providing clean and very comfortable accommodation and excellent breakfasts. There is a seperate lounge provided for guests and we spent a couple of evenings 'home from home' watching t.v. on a set that is better then the one we have!
Nothing seemed to be too much trouble, from drying our wet waterproofs overnight (and they were very wet); providing us with cake and fresh milk on our return each day and so many more considerate touches; making for a perfect stay.
The weekend was with our walking group, with about 20 of us staying in different b&bs and hotels in Bala( plus 30+ more in the hostel). The friends I spoke to about the Monfa, were amazed about all the 'extras' we were getting, compared to their b&b/ hotel accommodation.
My partner and I consider it overall the best b&b we have stayed in.

Decided to have a mini break in Wales. Then decided to base myself at Bala as it was central to places like Snowdonia, Portmeirion, etc. As I was not overly blessed with spare cash, took a chance and booked a room at Monfa. It was reasonably priced and seemed to have the things I like to have(e.g.internet access). I did wonder if it would be a bit basic as it was at the cheaper end of the market. I need not have worried! Monfa is clean, modern and well kept. Mr and Mrs Hotson are attentive and accommodating. The rooms are comfy and plenty of choice for breakfast. They try to make your stay as comfortable as possible. I have stayed in cheap B and B's and regretted it but this one is a cut above the rest. Thoroughly recommend.
